Special Delivery Tags

February 10, 2017

Hi there! Lisa here, with my fun project using this month’s collaboration partner, Jane’s Doodles. Have you seen their products? Eek. I want to snuggle all of the critters. Seriously. Their expressions just kill me. I want them all. 🙂

Since our challenge theme this month is Clean and Simple, which is right up my alley, I pulled out some paint swatches I’d been saving for just this sort of thing.

I used the Hero Arts infinity tag dies to cut the paint swatches into tags, and made sure to cut two reinforcements as well. For the backs of the tags I cut some remnants from watercolor paper that I had laying around.

I stamped the ridiculously cute bear and bunny twice onto some Bristol paper. I wanted to use my Zig clean color markers and knew that this paper would work best. I stamped them twice thinking I might mess up the coloring, and wanted to be prepared. The coloring went as planned, ha, so I got to make four tags instead of the two that I had planned. Love when that happens.

After coloring the critters, I fussy cut them out and then applied versamark over the entire image and used clear embossing powder to sort of give them more of an embellishment feel and look. Then I stamped the Special Delivery stamp onto a strip of vellum with versafine, and clear embossed it so it would stay. I adhered the critters to the vellum and then used foam tape underneath the critter to adhere the entire piece onto the front of the tag. A few sequins and gems, the reinforcement, and some twine, and these tags are finished.

Here’s the back of the tag, where I used two different Hero Arts sets to get my point across. The To and From are from a holiday wreath set and they are my “go to” for tag sentiments. I just love them. So much, that if I kept them on a small block somewhere, that would not be a bad idea. I also used another Hero Arts set for the bottom image, the Made with Love. These tags will go onto crocheted baby blankets, so I think that sentiment is perfect.

Now, here’s the part where I tell you what to do, vs. what I did. See that little bear on the right? How his ears aren’t very smooth? Well… I am aging. We all are, I know. Yet my eyes appear to be aging at an advanced rate these days. I actually had to take my glasses off to fussy cut the rest of the animals. Ahem. So, make sure you can see properly while fussy cutting. The animals will thank you.

Also, here you can see how they are a bit shiny from the clear embossing treatment.

Please make sure to join us with this month’s challenge. It’s definitely a fun one.

How Have You Bean?

January 11, 2017

Hello everyone!

Coralynn here with my fist post for our “New to Me” challenge. I have to say that I had so much fun with the stamp sets from sponsor Right at Home this month. Even though there is nothing that I have done with this card that is new but this company is new to me. I haven’t had the pleasure until now to enjoy Nicole’s stamps and they are amazing!

For my card today I started out with the Rain Dance Pattern stencil from Hero Arts and used HA charcoal ink and added it to the lower right hand side of the front panel.

I then cut out the scalloped frame from white card stock and added foam tape and popped it up on to the front panel.  The I stamped the coffee cup with Intense black ink and coloured it in with copics and added the heart to the coffee sleeve with a copic safe black pen.  I then adhered the cup to the panel with liquid adhesive and foam tape.

For the sentiment I took a piece of vellum from my stash and stamped it with Versafine Onyx black in and the added clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun.

To finish off the card I added a couple of black dots with Nuvo Crystal drops.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  We hope you’ll head over to the link up and play along with us.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon.

Coralynn 🙂

Pineapple Love

September 16, 2016

We are so excited to be collaborating with Ellen Hutson this month. Have you seen their new release? Have you seen their old releases? Have you shopped with them? The most excellent customer service, fast shipping, great selection. Just love them. And I am lucky enough to have met Ellen Hutson at CHA a few years ago. Wow. She’s even nicer in person than you can possibly imagine. 🙂
I wasn’t sure of my crafty plan when I sat down to create, I let the stamp set speak to me. Grabbed a sheet of heavyweight Neenah cardstock and just started stamping. Once I realized I was making a background, I decided to just make a full sheet, and hopefully get four cards out of it.
I stamped the pineapple itself randomly in small sections of the paper. I kept the crown in mind so I could stamp that later. I ended up gold embossing the crown, and I love that pop of glam that the embossing adds to the pattern. I filled in some white spaces with two of the smaller flowers from the same stamp set.

After the pattern was complete, I die cut the pineapple from some scrap paper. Then I used the negative as a mask so that I could color the pineapples with two shades of distress ink. I love the way they came out, sort of a retro funky wallpaper.

I wanted to keep the rest of the cards simple, so I die cut them with a rectangle stitched die, just for a finished edge. I gathered some word dies from the Essentials by Ellen line and layered up three pieces of black cardstock for each. Then used versamark and clear embossing powder to make them sturdier.

Since I’d stamped the sentiments on vellum, I layered them on white cardstock to make them stand out a bit more. I wanted to use my sewing machine with gold thread, but realized too late that my gold thread isn’t meant for sewing machines. Ahem. I ended up using my tiny attacher to make this work, and to make it a bit more rustic. Now, here’s a hot tip for you.
You can see that where I stapled the die cuts to the vellum, the staple went into my many layers of clear embossing powder and cracked it. This did not make me happy. Then I had a lightbulb moment and thought “hey, run your heat gun over that and see if it goes away”. And it does! So, if you ever have that issue, you now have a solution.
Thank you so much Ellen, and Ellen Hutson for working with us this month. We are having so much fun, and my wallet is getting a workout.
Be sure to join us in our challenge this month, the prize is sponsored by Ellen Hutson, and I know you’ll love it.

Sent With Love….

June 28, 2016

Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with a collaboration project with Lil’ Inkers for our Vellum challenge at A Blog Named Hero.
The Modern Mehndi set from Lil’ Inkers is stunning when white heat embossed on vellum.  I colored the back of the vellum with Copic Markers and created a frame with the Lawn Fawn Stitched dies.  The background was embossed on vellum using sparkly powder and I popped up the flowers with foam tape.
