Hello! My name is Melissa Chipperfield and I can’t begin to tell you just how excited I am to be joining the 2017 design team here at A Blog Named Hero! What a thrill and honor!
I’m a wife to a computer/math whiz and a mother to four young children, ages 12, 10, 6 and 3. I graduated from college as a registered dental hygienist, but since starting a family, I have become more of a stay-at-home mom and work only one morning per week at the dental office. In the ever changing world of dentistry, it’s good to keep up-to-date on technology advancements, so I keep my foot in the door at a practice I absolutely love!
As a family, we tend to lean toward activities involving the great outdoors. Before children, my husband and I backpacked a lot, often visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and recent events have touched our hearts! These days, we take our children hiking and biking. My husband and I are runners, so enjoy local running trails as much as the Midwest weather permits.
My creative journey began as a child. I was drawn to all things creative, including doodling, tracing, coloring, creative writing (especially poetry) and used my youngest brother for my earliest attempts at photography. It was in college that some friends introduced me to card making and scrapbooking. I dabbled with both, but it was when my husband and I finished up our college days and relocated to Eastern Iowa that I got a little more serious. It was there that I met a card making gal who was into StampinUp! at the time. My design style evolved from putting everything possible on a card front to being very selective in what elements I chose to include. These days, my card making style is very much clean and simple (CAS) and I absolutely love it! You’ll find me managing the CASology challenge blog, sharing creative work over at Inked Regards, my website, and playing with photography as I venture into a family photography business!
You can follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and my blog. You can also find me over at Splitcoast Stampers. If you’re interested in my photography, you are most welcome to follow me on the corresponding Instagram & Facebook pages as well as my photography website, Emotional Lens Photography.
For today’s post, I wanted to give you an idea of what you’ll see coming from my craft room in the upcoming year. Like I mentioned, I am very much a clean and simple kind of gal!
Simplicity. That’s me. I fell in love with this Hero Arts tree background stamp a while back and inked it up in white before stamping it on a kraft cardstock base. The sentiment is a wood veneer with little foam dots on the back, making it super simple to adhere to the design! I added little clear sequins as embellishments to give the overall design a bit of a wintry feel. As you can see, this is a super simple design with elements carefully selected for overall impact. I hope it inspires you to go ink up those neglected background stamps and create something!
And don’t forget, to celebrate our new home, we have a $20 gift certificate to Hero Arts for one lucky commenter! Have you seen their new Valentine’s release? Definitely something you’ll want to check out. We will draw a random winner from comments on all design team introduction posts (which began yesterday), so the more you comment, the more chances to win!
