Have a Wonderful Holiday

December 22, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa, back with a final post for 2017!  How the year flew by!

Our Winter Holiday challenge is still going on until December 30th, so I used a combination of Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamps sets to create a clean and simple holiday design.

I stamped one of the snowflakes from the Simon Says Stamp Frozen Fractoids set in black off the edge of the white card base.  I then stamped and die cut the large, colored sentiment using the Hero Arts Wonderful set and coordinating dies.  The die cut word was then adhered directly to the card base.  I then stamped the smaller words above & below the die cut.  To finish things off, I applied a little layer of sparkle to the die cut word using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  So simple and perfect for those last minute holiday cards!

Have a wonderful holiday and don’t forget to link up your own card by December 30th!

Happy Stamping!

Thinking of You

November 24, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back today with more clean & simple inspiration as I play along with this month’s challenge to CASE one of the A Blog Named Hero designers!

I made a simple Thinking of You design, taking inspiration from a poodle card by Emily Midgett (seen below my card).

I just loved the classic red, white and black color scheme and polka dotted background on her card and wanted to create a similar design.  I used the adorable bunny from Neat & Tangled’s Holiday Baking set as my main image, adding just a touch of color to its cheek.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set.  The little candy cane is from the same set and is colored with a red Copic marker.  I changed the color arrangement ever so slightly, using a black polka dot decorative paper instead of red as the base.  I then used red cardstock as the matte behind the main panel.  The black polka dot paper was glued directly to the white cardstock card base.  Once assembled, the main panel was attached to the card using foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the overall design.  I then added just a touch of sparkle to the candy cane using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  Here is Emily’s original design:

You have a few more days to join us in this challenge!  We’ve collaborated with Neat & Tangled this month and are using their images as inspiration on our designs!

Until next time, happy stamping!

Challenge: Copy a Designer with Neat & Tangled, Part One

November 6, 2017

Good morning and Happy November to you. Fall is definitely in the air here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I’ll just assume that Spring is in the air down in the Southern Hemisphere. I just hope the season suits you, Autumn is definitely my favorite. The leaves, the crisp air, the apples, they all just call my name.

This month we are lucky enough to be collaborating with Neat & Tangled and we are just thrilled. Not only are their designs just lovely, the owner, Danielle Walls, is a sweet woman, and we are so happy to call her our friend.

The theme for our challenge this month is Copy a Designer. What do we mean by that? Well, find a card design from one of the A Blog Name Hero Design Team members that speaks to you, and use it for inspiration. Easy, right?

Here are some projects from our Design Team to help you get started. Click on the picture to go to their blog post and see what card inspired them.

Our challenge this month runs until November 29th, so make sure to join us. Up for grabs is a gift certificate to Neat & Tangled.

Bunny Love

October 27, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back with more clean and simple inspiration for using critters for this month’s Calling All Critters Challenge.

Lawn Fawn is our sponsor and I used their Snow Day stamp set along with the Hero Arts Totally set (geometric) to create this design.

I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Journaling Die to create the main panel.  The geometric line was stamped in black ink.  I then stamped and cut out the two bunnies, popping them up with foam adhesive.  I then stamped a heart in Hero Arts Crimson Ink and cut it out before popping it up with foam adhesive.  A little white Wink of Stella was added to the heart to create a little more shine.  The assembled main panel was then attached to the card base using foam adhesive.
