Have a Wonderful Birthday

August 11, 2017

Lisa here today to wish you a wonderful weekend, and also to share this fun card I made using alcohol inks and WOW embossing powder and glitter.

This card sort of makes itself, honestly. Have you ever used alcohol inks? You basically keep messing around with them until you’ve made something amazing, or some pretty trash. This did not make it into the trash pile.

I used the “wonderful” die cut from the new Hero Arts Wonderful Stamp and Cut set. Using some double sided adhesive, I applied WOW Pumpkin Spice glitter on top of it. Add some sentiment rectangles, and you’ve got yourself an easy, yet impactful card. I sure hope if you’ve got some alcohol inks laying around that you’ll dust them off and give them a try. They are so much fun, and slightly addictive.

Don’t forget to join us in our embossing challenge this month. Up for grabs is a prize from WOW Embossing Powder.

You Are The Best

July 14, 2017

Good morning! Lisa here with my solo post for this month’s challenge with Winnie & Walter. The theme is Florals, which makes so much sense when you see what Winnie & Walter have to offer. So many pretty images, it’s a bit hard to choose.

I have a bit of a love affair with laurels, so I decided to make my own using stamps from Anna’s Flora. There’s a leafy branchy image that I used to stamp in a semi-circle sort of arc, and then I used the two roses and a leaf image as well. This is a wonderful stamp set, so many uses for it. I highly recommend all of the florals from Winnie & Walter, ha.

I used Zig markers to color in my image, and I tried to do some no line watercoloring. Except, yeah, there’s a line. For some reason my ink wasn’t cooperating with me, but I just went with it, this is all part of what makes a card handmade.

For the sentiment, I used this die from Hero Arts, and a sentiment from one of the stamp sets from a My Monthly Hero kit from last year. I just thought it made a nice combination, and would work well when I need a card in a pinch. That gold foil paper is from a Tim Holtz foil paper pad. It cuts beautifully, and I used a bone folder to smooth out the marks that the die left in the paper from going through the die cutting machine. Definitely recommend this paper pad. It’s half gold and half silver, and will last a very long time.

Oh! I almost forgot one last thing. I took a Zig marker and haphazardly drew some diagonal stripes on the card base to create a subtle pattern. And that card front is die cut with a Winnie & Walter die, the Audrey cutaways.

I do hope you join us this month for our challenge. Great prize up for grabs, and I know you have some florals hanging around that could use some inking.

Challenge: Interactive with Chibitronics, Part One

June 5, 2017

Happy Monday to each and every one of you. Today we are so happy to announce that we are collaborating this month with Chibitronics! What is Chibitronics? They’re a great company that make electronic stickers that have lights on them that allow you to incorporate technology into your cards and crafts. They are very easy to use, come with wonderful instructions, and they have amazing tutorials to help guide you to use their products.

Our challenge theme this month is “Interactive”, which seems logical, right? So, for those of us with Chibitronics kits, that might mean a light up card. If you don’t have this product, yet, you might make a shaker card, or a slider. As long as it’s interactive, and uses Hero Arts, it qualifies to win a prize from Chibitronics.

Here is the first group of cards from our Design Team. Click on the picture to be taken to their blog post with more details.
