Bokeh Background

October 6, 2017

Hello!  Kelly here with a card for the October theme.  I’m excited to be collaborating with one of my favorite companies this month, Lawn Fawn.

I am a huge animal lover and animal themed stamps are my favorite.  I find Distress Ink blends well for me on bristol cardstock, so I used a piece of bristol for the background.  I blended two shades of Distress Oxide ink using a sponge applicator.  I was getting finger prints on the wet ink so I put a piece of post it note on the bristol card to hold it while blending the ink.  I then splattered some water on the blended background let it sit for a little while and blotted it with paper towel to make white blotches.  I used my Hero Arts heat tool to dry the ink then stamped the Lawn Fawn “Lets Bokeh” circles with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink.  On a piece of watercolor paper I used a pencil to lightly draw a snow bank then stamped the tree, deer and rabbit from Hero Arts set Winter Time Fun.  I watercolored the images using Inktense pencils.  I then fussy cut it out and adhered it to the bokeh background.  The die cut sentiment is a Lawn Fawn die, Merry Christmas Border.  To finish the card I adhered glitter, used a Glaze pen on the critters eyes and added a diecut star.

I’m really looking forward to seeing critters on your cards this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

October 2, 2017

Good morning! Today we are excited to announce that we are collaborating with Lawn Fawn this month, and our challenge is celebrating critters!

Lawn Fawn is known for their critter images, and for good reason. They are just absolutely darling. And sweet. And just make us smile. Let’s get right to the inspiration from our design team. Click on the picture to be taken to their blog for more information.

We do hope you’ll join us in our challenge this month. We’ve got a gift certificate to Lawn Fawn for the winner. And we know you definitely have some critters in your stash that could use some inking!

Hero Arts Geometric CAS You’re So Lovely

October 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another geometric card; have you joined our challenge this month?

I found a card on Pinterest which inspired this quick and totally CAS (clean and simple) card. I cut 3 squares from the Lawn Fawn designer paper, then 3 from chocolate paper and adhered down the side of the base card. I stamped the flower in chocolate ink on to more of the Lawn Fawn paper and coated with clear wink of stella. I die cut two leave stems from the Your’re So Lovely set from scrap vellum, adhered it all together, stamped the sentiment and there you have it!

It’s a wee little card, 3.75″ by 5″; but super quick and easy. Hope you’ll play along this month; we love seeing your creations!

Mini Tone-on-Tone Cards

May 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another collaboration post with Gina K Designs – we have LOVED using their products this month – thank you Gina K!

This month our challenge is tone-on-tone; are you catching all the amazing samples from the design team? Lots of good stuff!
I have two stamp sets from Gina K; one has 4 sentiments so I started out making 4 of these mini cards…yes, I trust you can count and see there are only 3? Uh…it happens. 😀
I stamped the large flower from Doodle Buds on each one in various Hero Arts inks. I added some shading with watercolor pencils then blended with LOTS of clear Wink of Stella – gotta love some sparkle! I stamped various sentiments with VersaMark and embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder; I finished each focal point piece with some white gel dots, distress marker accents and enamel sprinkles.

I couldn’t help but create some watercolor lines for the background and even though the Gina K white paper isn’t watercolor paper, it worked just fine! I also flicked on some gold paint just for fun. These were SO FUN TO MAKE! I can’t wait to make more; they were super quick and easy.
Be sure to show us YOUR tone-on-tone projects this month; link ’em up here please: TONE-ON-TONE!
And thanks for popping in; hope you have a GREAT weekend!
Hugs,
