Sparkling Happy Holidays

December 15, 2017

Hello there!   Kimberly here today with another bit of holiday inspiration for you!   Can you believe how fast the holidays are approaching?!   I can’t!   I am super glad this month’s challenge theme is Winter Holiday  – it encouraged me to get a few more holiday cards finished and mailed!   This month’s collaboration partner is Simon Says Stamp – a big thank you to Simon for joining us this month!

I used one of my favorite Hero Arts holiday sets, Color Layering Snowy Tree, for this card.   Paired with the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s ‘Happy’, this card is such a pretty and traditional card!

For the focal point, I stamped and heat embossed the tree & deer with Wow! gold glitter embossing powder on vellum. Next, I stamped and heat embossed the snowy layer over the top of the previously embossed tree, and added the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.  I love that you can double emboss for such an elegant look!

I die cut the stamped & embossed scene with a Hero Arts Nesting Postage Stamp Infinity die, and adhered the vellum piece onto some patterned paper.   A tiny triple layered gold bow finished off the card!

Thanks for stopping by today!   I can’t wait to see what you create for our holiday themed challenge!

I Miss You!

November 17, 2017

Hello there!  Kimberly here today to share another bit of inspiration for this month’s challenge, ‘Copy A Designer‘!   I CAS’d Swapna’s card from March 2017!

Below is Swapna’s original card.   I really like the outline images stamped around the edge of the card and the colorful & shiny sentiment!

I wanted to work with the Maple Thanks stamp set from this month’s amazing collaboration partner, Neat & Tangled.   I stamped the image around the edge of my kraft paper with brown ink.   I added some Festive Fall sequins, also from Neat & Tangled here and there around the stamped leaves.

I was so excited that the ink colors in Hero Arts‘ Ombre Autumn Ink Pad matched the sequins perfectly!   I die cut the ‘Hello’ sentiment from Hero Arts Hello Stamp & Cut and used ink blending tools and the Ombre Ink Pad to get a gradient look on the die cut.   To finish it off, I added a heavy layer of Glossy Accents.   I stamped the supporting sentiment, also from the Hello Stamp & Cut set, on a strip of wine colored cardstock and heat embossed it in white.

What do you think?   It’s a fall version of the original….so fun!

I hope you all get a chance to play along with this month’s challenge!   All you need to do is use at least one Hero Arts product on your project and follow this month’s theme, ‘Copy A Designer’.   Link up your card for a chance to win a great prize from Neat & Tangled!    Can’t wait to see what you create!!

Challenge: Copy a Designer with Neat & Tangled, Part One

November 6, 2017

Good morning and Happy November to you. Fall is definitely in the air here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I’ll just assume that Spring is in the air down in the Southern Hemisphere. I just hope the season suits you, Autumn is definitely my favorite. The leaves, the crisp air, the apples, they all just call my name.

This month we are lucky enough to be collaborating with Neat & Tangled and we are just thrilled. Not only are their designs just lovely, the owner, Danielle Walls, is a sweet woman, and we are so happy to call her our friend.

The theme for our challenge this month is Copy a Designer. What do we mean by that? Well, find a card design from one of the A Blog Name Hero Design Team members that speaks to you, and use it for inspiration. Easy, right?

Here are some projects from our Design Team to help you get started. Click on the picture to go to their blog post and see what card inspired them.

Our challenge this month runs until November 29th, so make sure to join us. Up for grabs is a gift certificate to Neat & Tangled.

Thanks a Bushel!

October 22, 2017

Hi there, friends!   Kimberly stopping by today with a cute card for our Calling All Critters challenge!    I couldn’t wait to combine Hero Arts and this month’s collaboration partner, Lawn Fawn, for my card!

I created a Magic Color Slider card using the die from Lawn Fawn, as well as the Thanks a Bushel stamp set.   The adorable kitty is from the Hero Arts Purr stamp set.  I did some masking so that the cat would be standing in front of the basket of apples.   I stamped the ‘Meow’ (also from Hero Arts’ Purr) on just the colored portion for even more of a surprise when the tab is pulled!

I added a few colored apple die cuts to the front of the card so it didn’t look quite so plain before being pulled out.  To finish the card,  I added the Pull Here stamp to the tab from Lawn Fawn’s Push Here stamp set, and heat embossed the sentiment, from Bushels of Thanks.

That’s all from me today – hope you’ve enjoyed my card and that you have a chance to play along with us this month!    The only requirements to enter the challenge are to follow the theme and use at least one Hero Arts product on your card.    Can’t wait to see what you create!!
