August 18, 2019

2FACA962-552E-4ABE-B0E0-AF391F6BC9DB

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here, this month it’s all about Stretching Your Stamps and today I have a second card using pieces that were on my craft desk as well as You’re Beautiful and Mix & Match Compliments. To join our challenge check out all the details here.

B08E573E-9DC8-4AF8-9FC1-66F85134456E

I started by stamping a flower pattern on a stitched oval using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Next, I coloured in the images using Spectrum Noir TriBlend Markers.

For the sentiments, I heat set white embossing powder on black card stock. For an added detail I fussy cut around the main greeting. To finish off the card I added teal ribbon, 3D foam tape for dimension and coordinating sequins.

Wonder and Magic of Christmas

July 30, 2019

Hi Stamping Friends, Sandi here with a couple more cards for our “Christmas in July” challenge for this month created with the Hero Arts Wonder and Magic of Christmas.

We hope you will join in the challenge and load your cards to our link for this month for a change to win a $50. gift certificate from the awesome folks over at Hero Arts.  You can enter 5 times and the deadline for this challenge is August 10th – Enter Here.

I wanted to keep my design clean and simple so I went with a gold and white theme and Gold Embossed my images for some added interest.

The dotted design in the images provides added interest without adding bulk or work to the cards.

For the first one, I die cut the card front with the Stitched Rectangle die before gold embossed the sentiment in the top right of the card front adding that adorable little bobble.

I also heat embossed two of the “swish” images at the bottom to create a kind of ground for my images.

Next I embossed the tree in Sparkle embossing powder ( very hard to photograph, LOL) and the deer in Gold.

Layering them with foam tape helped to add some depth to the images.

For the second card, I used the small snowflake stamp to create a fun and really simple background.

Matted with a gold background it really pops and coordinates beautifully with my flying reindeer also gold embossed.

If you would like a free PDF download for both of these cards, please visit my blog here.

Thanks so much for stopping in to visit, and wishing you happy stamping

A Little Floral Sympathy

June 21, 2019

Hi, everyone, it’s Lee Ann here. I hope you have had a great week and are ready to spend some time cardmaking this weekend Today I’m sharing another Sympathy card featuring some of the stamps from the Hero Arts Vault along with a great technique using the new Reactive Inks from Hero Arts. These are a hybrid sort of like the Distress Oxides but they do not oxidize so you get creamy watercolor looks but more transparent color.

I wanted to make this one very soft and light feeling so I arranged all of the little flowers stamps from the Little Florals set on some white Tim Holtz watercolor paper and embossed them with white embossing powder as well. leaving room for the sentiment in the bottom third. After the embossing had cooled I pressed some ink directly from the pad onto my glass media mat and very roughly started picking up the colors and painted with the rule of three’s and a visual triangle around my sentiment in mind.

I used the new reactive inks, in  Taffy, Lemon Drop, Creamsicle, Blue Rasberry, Splash and Grape Slush, sort of painting into the areas for specific flowers but not being precise at all.  This is very easy and simple and will turn out great as long as you keep the orange, red and green separate, the rest will mix beautifully. Do not worry about doing this perfectly it is supposed to have an artistic layered look, ethereal and floaty. Definitely not within the lines!

When my piece had dried I colored in all of the flowers with a Versamark pen and then added clear embossing powder over the top.  After that was smooth and melted and had cooled I took the white Sea Salt Ink and pressed it on the card and dragged it all over, I wanted to damp down the background to almost white and get it to look almost painted. I then took a baby wipe and cleaned off all of the flowers where the clear embossing powder was and the brighter watercolor revealed itself.

This is a great technique called Joseph’s Coat, you are simply masking off the color underneath with clear embossing powder and then re-inking the background, so that there is a difference between what is embossed and not. This can be very dramatic with a dark ink over light or bright colors or soft and sweet with a white or lightened background with softer colors showing through as it is here.

After the panel had dried I ran it through my die-cutting machine to flatten it and added some craft foam to the back so it would just be slightly raised off of the card.  I heat embossed the Thinking of you sentiment from the   “Messages with a Flourish” set on a piece of light blue vellum that matched the inky water coloring in silver embossing powder. I wrapped this around the panel to hold it in place with no adhesive and then adhered the panel to a card base of Hero Arts Wood Grain cardstock from one of the MMH Kits.

I hope you like this technique and give it a try. Don’t forget to enter your card in the June challenge, there are a couple of Hero Arts Gift cards for prizes! Click here for all the details.

Thanks so much for stopping by, More details on my blog if you are interested!

Let’s Celebrate!

May 21, 2019

Hi, everyone, it’s Lee Ann here. I hope you are all having a great week! Today I’m sharing another Celebration Birthday card featuring some of the first stamps that I picked up over 5 years ago at the Hero Arts Factory Store. This card for me shows that you can create something completely new even from your older stashed items.

I am loving the current trend of black and white left uncolored with a bright pop of spring colors. This palette in the center of the card is made up of, Hero’s Mid Tone Dye Inks Butter Bar, Bubblegum, Fresh Peach, Pale Tomato, and Soft Vanilla. I used a long paint strip stamp from my stash and over-layed the pretty pinks and yellows, then white heat embossed on top and added white gel pen details. I slipped this strip under the partially cut circles that I stamped in black ink with the top part of the tree stamp. I added some small illustrations copied from the stamp set with a black micron pen to fill in the blanks.

I used white gel pen and some nuvo drops in coordinating color for small embellishments and trimmed the corners for finish.

Be sure to check out our 45 years of Hero Arts celebration and join our May challenge! Click here for all the details.

Thanks so much for stopping by, More details on my blog if you are interested!

You’re My Lucky Star

May 18, 2019

Hi everyone it’s Jessica here. Happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing an out of this world encouragement card featuring Lucky Star.

But first, be sure to check out our 45 years of Hero Arts celebration and join our May challenge! Click here for all the details.

Now on to today’s card, I started by die cutting an A2 sized rectangle with Bristol Smooth Card Stock.

I wanted an emboss resist effect so I treated the card front with an anti-static tool and heat set the constellations with white embossing powder.

41215642-BED2-49C6-8CAA-992800E940FF

Now it’s time to get inky and I blended Distress Inks in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire and Wilted Violet. Once I was happy with the blend,  I added drops of water to activate the ink.

Next, I stamped and coloured the main images using Spectrum Noir TriBlend Markers. To finish off the card I added a sentiment strip, coordinating sequins and 3D foam tape for dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
