Hello friends! It’s Teri and I am here to present three unique butterfly shaped cards using the Nesting Butterfly Infinity Die set from Hero Arts! The Challenge theme this month is shaped cards! Visit A Blog Named Hero and upload your creations to be in the drawing for a Gift Card from Hero Arts! Too much fun on this one!
I can’t decide which is my favorite, so we’ll start with the shaker card!
Check out the sparkle fun created on this one! The bases of all three cards are the same. Start by cutting the butterfly shape from an A2 White card. When you make the cut, line the tips of the top wing up so they overlap the card fold slightly! For this card, I used the largest butterfly plus the next size down and cut the shape from black cardstock and 2 pieces of black fun foam.
Once you have all the shapes cut, I recommend starting with the base A2 card. Using liquid glue, attach the 2 layers of fun foam, making sure the edges are aligned. Let the glue dry before adding the sequins and sparkle!
You may notice some small pink butterflies mixed in with the sparkle! I smooshed Berry Smoothie Reactive Ink onto watercolor paper and die cut with the Butterfly Confetti Fancy Die. Check out all the cute butterflies! I added sequins and beads from my stash! The top layer is a piece of acetate glued to the black cardstock butterfly frame and attached to the foam base.
The thanks is from the Thanks Stamp and Cut set, cut twice and layered for dimension! Now onto card number two!
Using the A2 base cut with the butterfly die, I ink blended a rainbow of color using the Glorious Petal Stencil after I dry embossed it. Colors used include: Passion Flower, Ultra Pink, Orange Soda, Tide Pool, Lime Green and Lemon Yellow inks.
I started with the Passion flower and moved outwards. I also left the stencil on and spritzed with a Sparkle Spray. The Thanks is from the same die set used on the shaker card! What an easy impactful card to create!
The last card also uses a black frame cut from the largest and second largest butterfly shape. I did some rainbow ink blending using three colors of distress ink Picked Rasberry, Mustard Seed and Tumbled Glass. You may notice some gold sparkle spray I added after completing the card!
I used the coordinating die to cut the antennae from black cardstock. I free hand cut the butterfly body in black cardstock and glued to the center. The Thanks die used on the other two cards appears here again on a sparkle vellum banner!
I hope perhaps I have inspired you to try a shaped card!
