Feel better soon

October 9, 2017

Hello! Michelle here today to share a clean and simple get well card, featuring a cute Lawn Fawn critter, and a fun surprise!

I created the background with the Rain Dance Pattern stencil from Hero Arts, and some Broken China Distress Oxide ink. The little tortoise is from Lawn Fawn‘s “On the Mend” stamp set, and I coloured him with Copics before fussy-cutting him out. The sentiment is a wood mount stamp from Hero Arts, which I white embossed onto black cardstock.

The surprise is that the cute little tortoise is popped up on an action wobbler, which gives lots of dimension and an interactive element to an otherwise simple card.

Have you entered our October challenge yet?

There’s a prize up for grabs!

Thanks for visiting 🙂

Happy Birthday

June 28, 2017

Hi Friends.. Swapna here with an interactive card to share today.

This month we are collaborating with an amazing company called ChibiTronics, they make cool LED lights to use in paper crafting. If you have not checked their site then please do it.

You can take your paper crafting and card making to another level. Our theme this month is Interactive so make an interactive card and enter the challenge as few days are left.

Now coming to my card. I made a shaker card today.

  • I secured my white panel on work surface, placed stencil over it.
  • Mixed embossing paste with distress stain spray till it blends nicely.
  • Applied through stencil evenly, removed stencil and left it to dry naturally.

  • Once it dried I die cut the panel using rectangle dies.
  • I didn’t use the frame in this card. Created well so that it can hold shaker elements.
  • Mounted it on white top folding card base.
  • Heat embossed sentiment and backed it with vellum strip.
  • Foam mounted it on the shaker card

  • I am totally in love how these tiny beads move around.

  • Couldn’t make justice with picture but the subtle shimmer on the embossing paste is so nice.

Hero Arts Geometric Arrows

October 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun geometric challenge. I adore this Hero Arts stencil of arrows; I use it ALL. THE. TIME.!! And then I may have gotten a wee bit distracted and added lots of other things to my card. 😉

I actually started the card by sponging Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick with the HA delicate petals stencil (lower right hand corner). Then I used the HA arrow stencil and added 3 lines of arrows with whipped spackle, each at varying lengths. Once dry I added gray, black and a wee bit of red distress crayons and rubbed those in with my finger.

I recommend waiting till the whipped spackling dries completely…just stating for a friend, I wouldn’t really know first-hand. HA!

I took a separate piece of water color paper and stamped the layering flower in Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, and Fired Brick; once stamped, I spritzed with water and let them run. I stamped the leaves in Black Soot, 3rd and 2nd generation stamping, also spritzing with water, then cut with matching dies.

I adhered all the images, cut the panel down slightly and added a strip of black glitter paper and MFT gray and white striped paper; the entire panel was adhered to a Neenah 110 lb. white card base. Finished it off with lots of splattering and a handful of sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join our geometric challenge; we love seeing your creations!

Ellen Hutson Sock Monkey

September 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another collab post from Hero Arts and Ellen Hutson!

Seriously – this sock monkey!!! Did you have one growing up? I know we did and they are just adorable. I had a ton of fun making this card, it’s very simple…and I even got some subtle, very subtle, texture going on!

http://www.ellenhutson.com

I stamped the image on the front of the card and colored with Copics, I also outlined it with a sharpie as I didn’t get the best impression. I cut an additional piece of white card stock and added a circle and circle border to allow the monkey to peek through. I stamped the balloon on designer paper and adhered it to the very top panel which was added using foam dimensional adhesive tape. I added a Hero Arts sentiment to the bottom of the main panel, then embellished with a Hero Arts stencil and matte transparent embossing paste – such a subtle hint of texture. Final touch was the fun red and white twine and enamel dots!

Thanks for stopping by; we can wait to see YOUR creations using TEXTURE; link ’em up HERE for your chance to win!

Thinking of You Peonies!

September 7, 2016

Good evening, Jess here!  I am so excited to be collaborating with Ellen Hutson this month and getting the opportunity to play with some of her gorgeous new Essentials by Ellen stamps!  I received the lovely Mondo Peony in the mail and couldn’t wait to color that gorgeous bloom!  Here’s what I created!

abnhsep2
I started by taping the Hero Arts stencil to a piece of white cardstock.  Then I applied a thin layer of metallic gold embossing paste, removed the stencil, and set it aside to dry.  While it was drying I stamped the peony onto watercolor paper with versafine and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I colored it with a combination of zig clean color real brush markers and blended the colors with a damp paintbrush.  Then I used the coordinating dies to die-cut the flower and leaves.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Mondo Hydrangea onto vellum with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I adhered the flower to the stenciled panel and then wrapped the vellum sentiment around the panel on an angle.  I adhered the vellum to the back of the stenciled panel so no adhesive would show.  Finally I mounted the stenciled panel to a white card base.
Thanks so much to our very generous sponsor for September, Ellen Hutson!

Our challenge theme this month is Texture. I created literal texture with the use of the embossing paste and I love the subtle shine the metallic paste gives to the card.  I hope you’ll play along with our challenge for a chance to win a prize from Ellen Hutson!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
