Hello there! It’s me, Cha! Today I’m at the blog A Blog Named Hero showing you my card for this challenge that is going to end in a few days. I encourage you to post your cards with a nature theme in order to win some prizes! Good luck!

For this card, I used an acrylic block in order to stamp images from the Tropical Flowers stamp set on the background here and there. I stamped the images with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and used white cardstock. Then, I masked the center of the card using one of the dies from the Rectangle Infinity Dies set.

For coloring the piece, I used Copics. I colored the whole piece except for the area just in the center of the card with the masking piece.

I removed the masking piece and traced the lines for the rectangle in the center of the card, using a black pen and a ruler so that I could trace straight lines. I traced these lines several times to make them a little bit wider.

I used one of the sentiment from the same stamp set (Tropical Flowers stamp set). As I wanted to heat embossed the sentiment, I used the mini MISTI to stamp the phrase twice even three times. I used black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink after using an anti-static powder tool. Then, I added some White Embossing Powder and heat it with my heat tool*. I heat embossed the sentiment several times. I cut the sentiment in one strip, and also, I cut the word “sweetest” separately.

I adhered the panel to a white card base and glued the sentiment in the center just in the area that is no colored with foam squares.

I gave some highlights to the flowers using a White Gel Pen and added some small dots to the background with a Gold Gel Pen.

To embellish this card, I added some shimmer to the flowers in the center. Also, I added some iridescent sequins to the background and two little hearts around the sentiment. What’s more, I added dots in the center of the flowers with a Gold Gel Pen and the Mustard English NUVO Drops.

I hope you like this card and… don’t forget to participate in this challenge! We are waiting for your cards! Thank you so much!

Dragonfly friend

April 13, 2019

Hello everyone. My name is Lise Mariann and let me tell you how excited I am to be on the new design team here at A Blog Named Hero. Beyond the moon, I tell you. First I would like to introduce myself and then tell you about my project.

I live in Trondheim, Norway with my husband, two children and two cats, but I originally come from the cold and far north of Norway. I have been scrapbooking since 2004, but have been gravitating more and more to cardmaking the last couple of years. Today I am mostly making cards, but love creating pages for my scrapbooks as well. When I am not crafting I work as an archaeologist and museum educator and I also like reading, embroidering, drawing and singing as well as hanging out with my family of course. You can also find me at my blog and on Instagram.

For my first project on the team I made the dragonfly card below using the “Color layering dragonfly” stamp set.

Embossing_3

I decided to only use the image edge stamps to create the water lilies and the dragonfly since I wanted to color them using my Copic markers, so I stamped it using a Versamark stamp pad and embossed it using gold embossing powder. After stamping and coloring the images I cut them from the paper using the matching frame cuts.

For the background I used patterned papers from my stash to suggest water and sky and cut them to size with a stitched rectangle die. I attatched the water lilies in layers raising the top one up using foam tape. I also glued the dragonfly using foam tape. I wanted to have the dragonfly “flying” off the page to create some extra movement in the card.

I then stamped and embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set as the images.

When all of the images and sentiment was placed I found a piece of white embroidery thread and hand stitched a flying trail from the dragonfly through the sentiment and behind the flowers.

To finish the card I glued the panel on a white card base raising it up on foam tape.

And before I leave you today I am hoping you will take a look at the A Blog Named Hero Facebook group where we also have lots of lovely makes by our Facebook design team. if you haven’t been there already I urge you to find it.

Make yourself a wonderful day.

Hello There!

March 7, 2018

Hey folks!

My name is Cynde Whitlow and I’m so excited to be a part of the A Blog Named Hero Design Team! Today I’m sharing some cards I made using the lovely Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia Stamp. Before I do that, I’d like to take a moment and tell you a little bit about myself.

I live in Montana with my husband and four kids. We are outdoorsy folks so we spend our winters on our snowmobiles and our summers riding our wave runners. I’ve always been creative, but I discovered card making several years ago and fell in love. Especially anything I can color. I’m a huge fan of Hero Arts. From the amazing products they offer, to the wonderful people in the company. I love them! My favorite style of card making is one layer cards with alcohol markers and ink blending.

You can also find me on my blog The Pink Envelope and my YouTube Channel.

Okey dokey. Let’s take a look at my cards. If you would like so see how I made these you can see that HERE.

I don’t use wood mount stamps very often, but the Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia was a must. I knew I would be using alcohol markers on these cards so I used Hero Arts Intense Black Ink on both of my 4.25″ x 5.5″ card panels. The stamp lends well to lots of different mediums and you also have the option of using the coordinating Flowering Magnolia Frame Cuts Die.

Although I stamped them both with the same layout, I wanted to take two slightly different approaches. On the card (pictured above), I went with bolder, darker colors. I added a faux frame with a ruler and black pen, but otherwise kept it clean. For my other card, I colored them to look like they were white magnolia’s, but I masked off the flowers as well as the panel and ink blended Hero Arts Tide Pool and Mint Julep inks onto the panel. This created a faux frame. Check out the VIDEO to see how I did this.

The sentiment on both cards is part of a sentiment from the Hero Arts For You Stamp Set. The sentiment actually reads “hello beautiful”, but I masked off the beautiful because I wanted a simple hello on both cards. I’m pretty sure this stamp set lives on my desk. I never put it away and I use it a ton.

I frequently add my own embellishments by hand with pens or other mediums, but you could totally finish these off with sequins or gemstones. Hero Arts Clear Gemstones would be a perfect finish for these!

That’s it!

I hope you enjoyed my cards today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time.

Hello – I Appreciate You

November 25, 2016

Hi friends – my very last post for A Blog Named Hero – what an INCREDIBLE journey this has been; thanks for having me!

As my last post, I wanted to combine a few of the companies that have allowed us to use their products this year:

And since I am forever asked to make ‘Thank You’ cards, that’s what I set off to make using 4 different stamp sets, 3 different companies. I was so inspired by THIS card but I don’t own any Dr. Ph Martins so I set about making the same sort of card using various distress ink markers sprayed with water. I even added some black details like Eunji has in her card, but mine are hand drawn.

I die cut the HELLO from water color paper, adhered to some white and black card stock for dimension, sponged with distress ink and coated with glossy accents. A black sentiment flag and some simple black/white graphic paper finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by; don’t forget, EACH team member is giving away a prize – that’s ten prizes up for grab. Leave some love for each and every blog post!

Hugs,

Hero Arts Geometric Arrows

October 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun geometric challenge. I adore this Hero Arts stencil of arrows; I use it ALL. THE. TIME.!! And then I may have gotten a wee bit distracted and added lots of other things to my card. 😉

I actually started the card by sponging Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick with the HA delicate petals stencil (lower right hand corner). Then I used the HA arrow stencil and added 3 lines of arrows with whipped spackle, each at varying lengths. Once dry I added gray, black and a wee bit of red distress crayons and rubbed those in with my finger.

I recommend waiting till the whipped spackling dries completely…just stating for a friend, I wouldn’t really know first-hand. HA!

I took a separate piece of water color paper and stamped the layering flower in Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, and Fired Brick; once stamped, I spritzed with water and let them run. I stamped the leaves in Black Soot, 3rd and 2nd generation stamping, also spritzing with water, then cut with matching dies.

I adhered all the images, cut the panel down slightly and added a strip of black glitter paper and MFT gray and white striped paper; the entire panel was adhered to a Neenah 110 lb. white card base. Finished it off with lots of splattering and a handful of sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join our geometric challenge; we love seeing your creations!
