Trio of Tags

November 27, 2020

Hi everyone, Caren here today.  I hope all who celebrated had a great Thanksgiving.

Today I have a trio of tags to share with you today.

I stamped the Graphic Snowflake Bold Prints stamp onto white card stock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

I then used tag dies from my stash to die cut three dies from the stamped image.  I ink blended with three different colors of distress ink.  I colored the images from an older Hero Arts stamp set – Snow Much Joy – with Copic markers.

I stamped my sentiments – from the November 2017 My Monthly Hero kit – onto some banners.  I adhered the images and banners to my tags with dimensional adhesive.  To finish the tags, I added some coordinating twine.

Thanks so much for visiting and don’t forget to visit the challenge to link up your project for a chance to win a Hero Arts gift card!

Happy Holidays

July 27, 2020

Happy Monday everyone.  Has anyone started their Christmas cards yet?  I decided to create a Christmas in July card for today’s post.

I used the November 2019 My Monthly Hero kit stamps and dies to create my card.  I stamped, die cut, and colored my images with Copic markers.

I heat embossed the sentiment with red ink and clear embossing powder.  I also used a Versafine marker on the star and ornaments on the tree with some sparkly embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to join in on this month’s challenge!

Embossing 4 Ways

July 21, 2020

This month’s challenge is Embossing and I have to say that it is by far one of my most favorite things to do in cardmaking, it is just magical the way that embossing powder melts to give you a shiny, raised sentiment, pattern or element to color. This set of cards uses Embossing all of those ways and also adds another which most people do not obviously go to but I will also show you some examples of detail embossing.

ABNH Embossing group.jpg

For these cards, I used two older Hero Arts woodblock background stamps that are so flexible I have used them both over and over, combined with white die-cut backgrounds and the Togetherness Flower Bouquet stamp set and sentiments from one of the first My Monthly Hero Kits that I thought went well with this combo. These projects really show how much fun it is to collect things you like and mix them up with your other favorites. The formula for all these cards was One large floral + stamped and embossed background +Wide layered sentiment strip. I like to make multiples of cards and my process starts with making all of the parts to mix and match, so first I stamped two charcoal grey and two pink backgrounds and 3 bouquets and die cut a couple of panels of the white background die. I also pulled out different sentiments and made matching cardstock strips as well.

ABNHEmbossing_grey1.jpg
ABNHEmbossing_pink2.jpg

For the two cards above I watercolored the Flowers with some Hero Hues Inks and a waterbrush. The top one with the gold embossing I kept the bouquet whole but for the bottom one I cut off the bottom flowers off of it and another for another card shown below. On the other pink card with the bouquet embossed in white on the background I also used selective embossing, where I used an embossing pen and colored over parts of the petals and used white satin pearl embossing powder to them. You can use detail embossing to add gold accents or highlights or give a more continuous look to differently colored items such as the two cards below.

Using the bouquest as a simple background in white embossing makes pulls the bouquet together on the panel.

Here I also usesd White Satin Pearl embossing powder on the petals of the flowers as well as the background. It is hard to see but it looks so pretty and pearly in the light.

So let’s count the embossing ways…  1- Embossing a flower or other for containing your water-coloring, 2- Embossing a background with clear embossing powder for a subtle pattern, 3-Embossing a dark color background with white ink and clear embossing powder and 4- detail embossing using an embossing pen to add selective details to small areas of your cards. with background.

I hope you like these cards and that they gave you some inspiration for other ways to add embossing to your cards. Make sure you join in the challenge. You have until 5pm EST on the 10th of August to enter the challenge via the link tool below!

Embossed Background & Color Stamp Layering

July 3, 2019

Hi there! I’m on the blog A Blog Named Hero for another card with the June Challenge 2019! Have you already joined the challenge with your sympathy cards? If you don’t, you have some time to do so! Join us uploading your cards until July 10th, 2019 for a chance to win a voucher with 50$ or 25$ on Hero Arts online store!

I made two cards because I was experimenting with some colors. The processes on the two cards are the same, except for the colors.

I started stamping the Venetian Fleur-de-Lis Bold Prints on top of a black piece cardstock, using Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

On a piece of white cardstock, I used the mini MISTI stamping tool in order to double stamping the image. I stamped the flower from the Color Layering Calla Lily stamp set with blueish inks. First, I stamped the first layer with Soft Pool ink, then I stamped the second layer with Summer Sky ink, and I stamped the fine lines of the last layer with Navy Mid-tone Shadow Ink. Later, I followed the same process for stamping the leaves. As the leaves had two layers, I stamped the first one with Moss Bold ink and the second one with Forever Green Mid-Tone Shadow ink. I die cut all the pieces with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the sentiment from the Color Layering Calle Lily stamp set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment on a strip.

I assembled this card in a very simple way. I first glued a piece of Arctic cardstock on top of a white notecard and over this, I attached the embossed background. I glued the flowers and the leaves together and adhered over the background. I also added the sentiment strip above the flowers and the leaves with some foam tape.

To finish the card, I added some Nuvo Drops English Mustard at the center of each flower. Also, I added different types of sequins to the background – black confetti and blue bubbles sequins. I added some green bubbles sequins on top of the leaves, too. These bubbles sequins came with a past kit, so they are not available anymore but you can find some similar options HERE, HERE and HERE. Finally, I added some gold shimmer to the flowers and leaves.

I also made another card with the same products but different colors. I heat embossed the background with Gold embossing powder. Also, I stamped the flower with Soft Yellow Shadow ink, Butter Bar Mid-Tone Shadow ink, and Orange Soda Shadow ink. For embellishing this card, I just added some gold and black confetti here and there. These confetti embellishments came with the My Monthly Hero February 2019 and it is still available.

I hope you like these cards! Join us to this June Challenge 2019! Thank you!

See you the next time!

Dragonfly friend

April 13, 2019

Hello everyone. My name is Lise Mariann and let me tell you how excited I am to be on the new design team here at A Blog Named Hero. Beyond the moon, I tell you. First I would like to introduce myself and then tell you about my project.
IMG_5805

I live in Trondheim, Norway with my husband, two children and two cats, but I originally come from the cold and far north of Norway. I have been scrapbooking since 2004, but have been gravitating more and more to cardmaking the last couple of years. Today I am mostly making cards, but love creating pages for my scrapbooks as well. When I am not crafting I work as an archaeologist and museum educator and I also like reading, embroidering, drawing and singing as well as hanging out with my family of course. You can also find me at my blog and on Instagram.

For my first project on the team I made the dragonfly card below using the “Color layering dragonfly” stamp set.

Embossing_3

I decided to only use the image edge stamps to create the water lilies and the dragonfly since I wanted to color them using my Copic markers, so I stamped it using a Versamark stamp pad and embossed it using gold embossing powder. After stamping and coloring the images I cut them from the paper using the matching frame cuts.

For the background I used patterned papers from my stash to suggest water and sky and cut them to size with a stitched rectangle die. I attatched the water lilies in layers raising the top one up using foam tape. I also glued the dragonfly using foam tape. I wanted to have the dragonfly “flying” off the page to create some extra movement in the card.

I then stamped and embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set as the images.

When all of the images and sentiment was placed I found a piece of white embroidery thread and hand stitched a flying trail from the dragonfly through the sentiment and behind the flowers.

To finish the card I glued the panel on a white card base raising it up on foam tape.

And before I leave you today I am hoping you will take a look at the A Blog Named Hero Facebook group where we also have lots of lovely makes by our Facebook design team. if you haven’t been there already I urge you to find it.

Make yourself a wonderful day.
