Hey Sunshine!

September 4, 2016

Hi Stampers!
Ilina’s here today with a simple but effective card using a new set, Sock Monkey Surprise, from our wonderful and so generous sponsor this month, Ellen Hutson!

This month’s challenge is Texture, so using the Sunshine word die I created the background. Instead of cutting, I used the die to dry emboss my background. Then I trimmed it. Next using the Hero Arts Intense black ink I stamped the sentiment(from Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages which paired perfectly with the Sunshine word die), monkey and balloon and colored using Chameleon Pens. Next I die cut them, but then I trimmed around them to remove the white edge with little paper snips.
I assembled my card by adhering all elements together and adhering my panel to white top folding card.

Thanks for visiting and hope you play along  with our challenge this month!

Mine mine mine

September 2, 2016

As soon as I saw the new “Stay Salty” stamp set from Ellen Hutson, the thing that popped into my mind was the seagulls in the Disney/Pixar movie, “Finding Nemo” – do you remember them? Let me refresh your memory:

I used an older Hero Arts set, “Small Variety Alphabet” to create the “mine mine mine” sentiment. (you have to say it in the right voice – maybe go and watch “Finding Nemo” to check exactly how to do it. I’ll wait.)

The sentiment inside says, “may you be happier than a seagull with a stolen chip”.  Makes me smile! (this stamp set was designed by Julie Ebersole, so the fact that it makes me smile is no surprise at all!)

Thanks so much to our very generous sponsor for September, Ellen Hutson!

Our challenge theme this month is Texture. I tried to create some texture on the sand on my card with some stippling with my Copic markers – this gives the look of texture, on a perfectly smooth one-layer card.

Thanks for visiting!

Thank You Foliage

August 29, 2016

I was so excited to finally get my hands on this Hero Arts stamp set, it’s called For You Flowers. And then the first thing I use is the leaves. Ha! The fun thing about this particular card is the ink colors I used. The base layer is Hero Arts Neon Green and the top layer is the Hero Arts Ombre Neon Chartreuse to Blue.

I used a filler image from one of last year’s Christmas sets, which I love, because I want to use every single stamp in a set. It is Hero Arts Color Layering Wreath. And then an awesome sentiment from a Julie Ebersole stamp set, which is why I invoked Julie and ran a bead of stickles along the edge of my card!
You’ve got just a couple hours left to join us in this month’s challenge. Click here!
