Ellen Hutson Sock Monkey

September 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another collab post from Hero Arts and Ellen Hutson!

Seriously – this sock monkey!!! Did you have one growing up? I know we did and they are just adorable. I had a ton of fun making this card, it’s very simple…and I even got some subtle, very subtle, texture going on!

http://www.ellenhutson.com

I stamped the image on the front of the card and colored with Copics, I also outlined it with a sharpie as I didn’t get the best impression. I cut an additional piece of white card stock and added a circle and circle border to allow the monkey to peek through. I stamped the balloon on designer paper and adhered it to the very top panel which was added using foam dimensional adhesive tape. I added a Hero Arts sentiment to the bottom of the main panel, then embellished with a Hero Arts stencil and matte transparent embossing paste – such a subtle hint of texture. Final touch was the fun red and white twine and enamel dots!

Thanks for stopping by; we can wait to see YOUR creations using TEXTURE; link ’em up HERE for your chance to win!

Stay Golden

September 13, 2016

As my daughter commented when she saw this card, “Mom, you finally came out of your flowerbox!”  I did have to sneak a few of them in tho!!  This month our fantastic sponsor is:

and our challenge theme is:

And I am delighted to be designing with Julie Ebersole’s new release stamps, Stay Golden.

My pineapple was stamped repeatedly with Versamark on a scrap of dark yellow cs and gold embossed until there was a nice thick layer.  The top (or crown) was stamped on a scrap of green with Versamark and clear embossed – again until there was a thick layer.  I did the same with the little flowers leaves and sentiment except they were stamped with regular ink.  Even tho there are matching dies for these stamps, I fussy cut them because I didn’t want the white edges.  The base of the card is white with the striped washi tape from Target and the grey stripe from Michaels.  Added a couple of sequins for added texture and done!  All the repeated stamping was done with my MISTI.

This month you can win a prize from Ellen Hutson with your entry in our “Texture” challenge – so many ways to add texture – layering, dry and heat embossing, texture paste, embellishments, fabric, velveteen stamping – just to name a few.  Our ABNH designers will have ideas for you all month long also.  So join in here.

Ellen Hutson / Hero Arts “Bear Ware”

September 10, 2016

Hey Everyone! Kristina here featuring this months collaboration partner, the lovely Ellen Hutson with a new Essentials by Ellen release “Bear Ware”
http://www.ellenhutson.com
There are so many fun elements in this stamp set, but the bunny was really calling out to me.
In keeping with this months “Texture” challenge I started with some translucent embossing paste and a Hero arts stencil to create a subtle floral layer and then added some clouds to the background from the new Ellen Hutson Silver Linings die set. For my main focal point I stamped, colored, and die cut a few images and adhered them to a circle cut layered with vellum.
I decided to leave this card without a sentiment, it’s versatile enough to be a sympathy, get well, or simple Hello card, so I’ll stamp the inside later when the occasion arises.
A big Thank You to Ellen Hutson for collaborating with us this month, and don’t forget to join in on our monthly challenge showing off your “Texture” projects.

Hello there!

September 8, 2016

Hi there stampers, Alisha here to share my creation for our challenge this month using:

For this card, I used the Hero Arts set “Flowers for You” again but this time I used the beautiful blossoms and the sweet little leaves.  It is a three step stamp that lines up so effortlessly!  All the stamps in this set are beautiful and its so hard to choose which one to use.

As you all know, Ellen Hutson is our fabulous sponsor this month so I hope you will join us for our challenge!
Have a great day,

Thinking of You Peonies!

September 7, 2016

Good evening, Jess here!  I am so excited to be collaborating with Ellen Hutson this month and getting the opportunity to play with some of her gorgeous new Essentials by Ellen stamps!  I received the lovely Mondo Peony in the mail and couldn’t wait to color that gorgeous bloom!  Here’s what I created!

abnhsep2
I started by taping the Hero Arts stencil to a piece of white cardstock.  Then I applied a thin layer of metallic gold embossing paste, removed the stencil, and set it aside to dry.  While it was drying I stamped the peony onto watercolor paper with versafine and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I colored it with a combination of zig clean color real brush markers and blended the colors with a damp paintbrush.  Then I used the coordinating dies to die-cut the flower and leaves.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Mondo Hydrangea onto vellum with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I adhered the flower to the stenciled panel and then wrapped the vellum sentiment around the panel on an angle.  I adhered the vellum to the back of the stenciled panel so no adhesive would show.  Finally I mounted the stenciled panel to a white card base.
Thanks so much to our very generous sponsor for September, Ellen Hutson!

Our challenge theme this month is Texture. I created literal texture with the use of the embossing paste and I love the subtle shine the metallic paste gives to the card.  I hope you’ll play along with our challenge for a chance to win a prize from Ellen Hutson!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
