Simple CAS Faux Watercoloring

April 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back to another Clean and Simple (CAS) post for Hero Arts and Newton’s Nook! If you haven’t already, you still have a few days to join our challenge; link up your CAS cards HERE!

http://www.newtonsnookdesigns.com/

Thank you to Newton’s Nook for the treasures to play with; we have ALL so enjoyed your great products!
I took some Ranger watercolor paper and used MFT Blueprints to cut two small ‘canvases’ for my faux watercoloring. The stamp set is Hero Arts For You layering flowers – so simple to create a watercolor look. I used the Misti to line up the layers of the flower, the leaves were stamped individually using an acrylic block. Once I had all the stamping done, I misted the watercolor paper with water and let it run as much as it wanted! Once the flowers/leaves were dry, I added a soft wash of Peacock Feathers, and again once totally dry, I stamped the Newton’s Nook sentiment from Beautiful Wings in Hero Arts Black.

can you see the sparkle?

You think being CAS, I’d just pop those canvases on some cards and be done huh? Silly thought! HA! I cut two base cards (4″ x 4″) splattered on some distress ink then sprayed with shimmer mist – can you see the shimmer in the close up? I finished each card off with some vellum, washi tape (cut down to a smaller size) and some MFT designer paper. The focal point was popped up with fun foam.

Thanks for stopping by; we hope you’ll join our CAS challenge! Take care!
Hugs,

Playing with butterflies from Newton’s Nook

April 16, 2016

Hello! Michelle here with you today to share a card using the Beautiful Wings stamp set from Newton’s Nook’s latest stamp release.

I stamped and white embossed three butterflies, then painted over them in Distress Inks. After making sure this was dry, I then stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx black and clear embossed.  I stamped the diagonal stripes in Versafine as well on my card base and clear embossed them, too, before adhering my watercolour panel over the top. A sprinkling of sequins was the finishing touch.

Many thanks to our generous sponsor for April, Newton’s Nook.

Jennifer sent us some stamps to play with this month, and she is offering a prize to one lucky entrant in our challenge for this month, so make sure you get your entry in!

Hero Arts + Newton’s Nook Collab in pastel

April 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for a CAS (clean and simple) collaboration with Newton’s Nook! Thank you so much to Newton’s Nook; they have so many fabulous stamp sets but this one, this Beautiful Wings – OH GOODNESS, so delicate and so gorgeous! And if you haven’t yet; please be sure to play along and link up your CAS creation HERE; we love seeing your work!

http://www.newtonsnookdesigns.com/
I took a piece of Strathmore watercolor paper, stamped 3 of the butterflies randomly in Versamark and embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder, I sprayed the paper heavily with water, dropped in some distress inks and spread them around – easy peasy – and so soft and delicate. Once the panel was completely dry, I added some washi tape from my hoard stash, sentiment from Hero Arts Hello Stamp and Cut set also embossed in white and a few sequins, also from my hoard stash. 😀

sorry for the wacked lighting…does my Ott Lite need a new bulb? 🙁

I outlined each of the butterflies with a T1 Copic marker and mounted the entire panel on a white card base, adhering a decorative panel to the inside from the same water color paper.

Entire card inspired by Kelly; see the inspiration HERE.

Thanks for stopping by; don’t forget to join along with your CAS creation by linking your card up HERE! Take care!

May Your Dreams Take Flight!

April 5, 2016

cas
Hello fellow Hero Art’s Friends!
Kathy, The Crafty Nurse here with you today for my take on a this month’s “Clean & Simple” challenge going on all month at A Blog Named Hero.  This month we are collaborating with Newton’s Nook so you’ll definitely want to join.
I am not typically a Clean & Simple designer so my interpretation may be a little less Clean and Simple but that’s okay because what is important is your expression of the challenge.
For my card I began by creating a background with Candied Apple Distress Ink then lifted the design with a Dylusions Stencil and water.  I then stamped the Hero Arts Leafy Vine over the panel and included the Newton’s Nook sentiment.  The butterflies are colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and glittered with Wink of Stella Clear.
April Hero
For your connivence, we’ve added the current challenge to the side-bar on the right over at A Blog Named Hero so you can find it quickly to enter. We can’t wait to see your “Clean & Simple” cards this month.  Have fun!

Butterfly thanks to welcome April

April 2, 2016

Hello! Michelle here to welcome in a new month and a new challenge!

Our wonderful sponsor for April is Newton’s Nook – I just adore their
clean and cute images!  Jennifer at Newton’s Nook has generously provided our design team with goodies to play with, and has
offered a prize for this month’s winner, so be sure to join in with
your own creations.

http://www.newtonsnookdesigns.com/

I will have a card using Newton’s Nook designs stamps later in the month, but today, I have a card using Hero Arts stamps and a stencil for you.

I started with the “swirl stencil” from Hero Arts, and added some Wilted Violet and Spun Sugar Distress Inks to a white card base. I then stamped the “thanks” from the Hero Arts “thanks stamp & cut” set and clear embossed it (I actually added more embossing powder while it was still hot to get an extra-glossy look). I then stamped the rest of the sentiment.
The butterfly (from “color layering butterflies”) was stamped in the same inks as the background, then die cut and adhered to the card (I stamped the antennae to the card base because I didn’t have a die for that particular stamp, and I didn’t think fussy-cutting the antennae was something I really wanted to do! I added a coat of Wink of Stella to the butterfly, and I was done!

The latest challenge is Clean and Simple – we’d love it if you would link up your CAS creation using the Inlinkz below. You have until 5pm on April 29th to join in!
