Masculine Birthday in Blue

July 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun masculine card – this time a birthday card for someone extra special in my life – MY HUBBY!

This month we’re focusing on masculine cards combined with Hero Arts – hands down, one of my favorite vendors – and not just for their stamps; their stencils, cards, envelopes, papers, inks – swoon; it can hurt your pocketbook, that’s for sure. 😉

Anyway, back to hubby and I – our birthdays are only 5 days apart (with several years included) – HA!! I took a piece of Hero Arts snow white layering paper and sponged on Tumbled Glass distress ink; then taped down the Hero Arts window pane stencil and added Mermaid Lagoon focusing mainly on the middle section but then adding more light sponging towards the edges. I stamped the happy birthday in VersaMark and embossed with black super fine powder, the other images were stamped with Hero Arts Intense Black.

I cut the main panel with a large rectangle die, then cut the remaining pieces into small strips and added to the inside of the card. 😀 Use ALL those scraps.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join our MASCULINE challenge this month; we love seeing your creations!

My oldest Hero Arts stamp

June 15, 2016

Hello, everyone! Michelle Lupton here today to tell you all about a giveaway being hosted by Niki Garcia on the A Blog Named Hero Facebook page this week.

Niki has a $20 gift voucher to a2z Scrapbooking to give away – all you have to do is share your first ever Hero Arts stamp in the comments of her post. So that is what I am doing today!

I combined by first Hero Arts purchase (the Happy Birthday to You stamp), white embossed onto some black cardstock, with one of my most recent Hero Arts purchases (the Bold Floral stencil). Some Distress Ink sponging and a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh make for a simple birthday card!

I hope you will share your first ever Hero Arts stamp with us on our Facebook Page – Niki can’t wait to give away the voucher!

Niki will be choosing the winner on June 20th.

And don’t forget, our challenge theme for June is:

Lil Inkers Vellum Collab

June 14, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun collaboration between Hero Arts and Lil’ Inker Designs – lucky me, I already had some fun things in my stash from Lil’ Inker’s which made this card oh so fun to create!

My vellum looks hidden, but I promise you its there!!
Hubby has a good friend that his wife was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer; she quickly lapsed into coma, never regained consciousness and passed away two weeks later – so incredibly sad. I already had this card in the works and decided to make it into a sympathy card – it’s pretty girly but I know he will appreciate it!
The gorgeous flowers are the Vintage floral set from Lil Inker Designs with matching dies – swoon – they are super gorgeous, yes?
I started with the Stitches and Stripes cover-up die and sponged on Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon distress inks, I removed the inside small pieces and saved those for another card which I’ll show soon. I then colored the flowers and greenery with Copics finishing them off with some white dots, placed them on the card where I liked the arrangement and used the good ole press and seal to pick up the entire bouquet, added adhesive and reapplied – works so well!
I layered the Stitches and Stripes die on a piece of vellum then adhered the entire piece to a white card base. I used Hero Arts Prayer set for the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by; have a great day! And don’t forget to link up and show us YOUR project using vellum; link HERE!

CAS Tone-on-Tone

May 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back to another fun tone-on-tone post for a couple totally CAS (clean and simple) cards! This month we are collaborating with Gina K Designs and I adore these scripty sayings so I easily incorporated one.

http://www.shop.ginakdesigns.com/
I also used some card stock from Gina K, stamped the gorgeous flower from Hero Arts in Versamark and used Hero Arts white embossing powder. This particular floral set was in Hero Arts April monthly card kit and is no longer available, but they have TONS of other options you could use – or ANY floral image will work! Here are a few great options:
Classic Bloom
Antique Rose
Night Flower
Etched Flower

I used distress inks and water to add some shading and even though this isn’t watercolor paper, it did FANTABULOUS with absolutely no warping. Of course, I didn’t use much water either. 😀

Look closely, you can see the stencil dots; they faded and are super soft IRL!

On the yellow card I embossed one of the scripty sentiments from Gina K Designs and on the pink card, I used a stencil and Hero Arts Ombre ink to sponge through the stencil – very subtle. I finished the cards off with sprinkles and sequins.
Thanks for stopping by; you have a few more days to join us for our tone-on-tone celebration; link ’em up HERE.
