Hero Arts Geometric Arrows

October 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun geometric challenge. I adore this Hero Arts stencil of arrows; I use it ALL. THE. TIME.!! And then I may have gotten a wee bit distracted and added lots of other things to my card. 😉

I actually started the card by sponging Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick with the HA delicate petals stencil (lower right hand corner). Then I used the HA arrow stencil and added 3 lines of arrows with whipped spackle, each at varying lengths. Once dry I added gray, black and a wee bit of red distress crayons and rubbed those in with my finger.

I recommend waiting till the whipped spackling dries completely…just stating for a friend, I wouldn’t really know first-hand. HA!

I took a separate piece of water color paper and stamped the layering flower in Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, and Fired Brick; once stamped, I spritzed with water and let them run. I stamped the leaves in Black Soot, 3rd and 2nd generation stamping, also spritzing with water, then cut with matching dies.

I adhered all the images, cut the panel down slightly and added a strip of black glitter paper and MFT gray and white striped paper; the entire panel was adhered to a Neenah 110 lb. white card base. Finished it off with lots of splattering and a handful of sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join our geometric challenge; we love seeing your creations!

A geometric note of thanks

October 2, 2016

Our theme for the month of October is geometric, so I went through my stash of Hero Arts background stamps, and this one jumped into my hands:

I stamped the background onto some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock (mainly because my first thought was to paint some Distress Inks over it, but I changed my mind).  I stamped the background in Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I left a blank area in the middle of the stamp, so that I would have space to stamp my sentiment, using the Thanks stamp & cut set, with Intense Black ink, also from Hero Arts.  I used four Distress Inks in greens and blues to fade into the centre.
I wanted to emphasize the geometric pattern in the background, so I cut some very thin pieces of silver glitter paper, and adhered them to match some of the lines in the background.  I added some sequins as the finishing touch, just to make it slightly asymmetrical.

Make sure you join in with our new challenge – you can find the link in the top right sidebar, or go and visit the first post of the month.

The prize this month is a stamp set from Hero Arts!Yay!

Thanks for visiting 🙂

Ellen Hutson Oh Ship!

September 25, 2016

Hi friends! Welcome back to another collaboration post with our sponsor this month, Ellen Hutson!

http://www.ellenhutson.com

I used this adorable set designed by Julie Ebersole, Stay Salty – so cute with great images and adorable sentiments!

I went completely CAS with a cute little boat, some sparkly waves and puffy clouds – easy peasy!

I stamped the image in Hero Arts intense black and colored with copics. I cut the frame with MFT’s wonky circle dies, adhered to a yellow card base and finished with a few enamel dots. Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join our TEXTURE challenge this month; we enjoy seeing your creations!

Hugs,

Pop of Color – Dahlias

August 14, 2016

http://www.thetonstamps.com/

Hi friends – welcome back for another fun pop of color inspiration piece. This month we are partnering with The Ton – WOW, WOW, WOW – such gorgeous stamps, matching dies and gorgeous sequins/beads – be sure to check them out!

I knew I wanted to go graphic as well as clean and simple (CAS); so I stamped what would be the third stamp in the layering flower down the left hand side of the card; I then added some graphic black and white paper from my hoard stash. I stamped all 3 images from one of the floral layering sets on Hero Arts white layering paper with Worn Lipstick and Barn Door distress inks. That in itself is pretty, but look what happens when I added some shadows with a Barn Door distress marker – now the depth really pops! I stamped several leaves but only used two; sometimes I stamped 2nd generation, sometimes I stamped full strength on full strength of the same color for a deeper/richer color.

I don’t have the matching dies so just cut each piece out and colored the edges with a black marker for a defined edge. I die cut the ‘thanks’ from pink and black card stock and layered them up – I added some sponging to the pink layer for a fun ombre look, finished it off with glossy accents, clear wink of stella and layered all the pieces on to the main panel which was adhered to a Hero Arts black note card (white on the inside).

Thanks for stopping by; hope you take some time to play along with our pop of color challenge this month, another great prize up for grabs!

Masculine thanks

July 19, 2016

Hello, everyone! Michelle Lupton here today, to share a card I have made for this month’s challenge theme, which is “Masculine”.
Now, I am just like a LOT of card makers – I struggle with masculine cards.  But the Triangle pattern stencil from Hero Arts made my job that little bit easier.

I fixed the stencil above my white cardstock, and used an ink blending tool to add some Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink – stronger in the middle, fading towards the edges. I then cleaned my stencil before putting it back exactly in the same spot to add some Versamark ink over the top of the coloured triangles and clear embossed.  I then moved the stencil and added more Versamark and clear embossed again. I then added more Distress Ink in Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch over the top of the embossing. This gave a dimensional, layered look to the pattern.

I then took my “Thanks on a line” die from Simon Says Stamp and cut it out of my patterned piece. I also cut a piece of black card and cut it with the same die and used it to create and inlaid die look.  I affixed it all to a white card base and added a strip of black top and bottom, and I was done!

Have you entered our challenge for July yet?

We are so excited by who our sponsor is this month – it is the one, the only….
