Joy To You

November 24, 2020

Hello there! Seeka here and today I have a holiday card with tropical vibe. I had different intentions when I started this card, but as the background came together it began to remind me of tropical waters and I found myself choosing a floral ornament with a color combination reminiscent of a Hawaiian shirt.

I started by using Embossing & Watermark Ink and Sparkle embossing powder to heat emboss the Abstract Linocut Bold Print background stamp onto an A2-sized piece of Paradise cardstock.

Next, I used the Poinsettia and Ornament Fancy Die to cut the ornament from white cardstock, and the sentiment die from the Joy Stamp & Cut set to cut “joy” from Papaya cardstock. I stamped a small sentiment from the Joy set in Intens-ified Black ink onto a strip of white cardstock.

To assemble the card, I trimmed the background to about 4″ x 5.25″ and then used foam tape to adhere the ornament and sentiments. To finish, I used more foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Don’t forget to check out this month’s challenge! The theme is Glitter and Sparkle.

Thank you so much for visiting!

Stretch Your Background Stamps

September 6, 2019

Traditional Christmas Card Hero Arts

Hi Everyone, Kristina here today with another project for our Stretch your Stamps challenge. You have a few more days to enter! I decided to turn a tropical foliage background into a Christmas one!

Hero Arts Tropical Florals

The Process

  • I started by heat embossing the Hero Arts Jungle bold print with gold sparkle embossing powder onto some dark green card stock.
  • Next, I used an assortment of red and green gouache paint to color the background in traditional Christmas colors.
  • Once dry, I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to some gold glitter card stock.
  • I die cut my main sentiment with the Hero Arts Christmas fancy die from a pearlized white card stock, and then stamped a coordinating greeting onto white card stock and trimmed to fit above.
  • I couldn’t find a coordinating greeting that I liked to go with the Christmas fancy die, so I mixed and matched pieces from a few sentiments, more stamp stretching at work 🙂

Infinity Shaker Card w/ Hero Arts Christmas Goodies

August 6, 2019

Hi Everyone! Kristina Here with another Christmas in July project. You have a few days left to enter our July challenge, I wen non-traditional for this one.

The Process

  • I started by stamping the Candy Stripe background in versamark ink onto some Bristol Smooth paper, and heat embossing with clear embossing powder
  • Once cooled, I did some ink blending over top, wiping off the excess afterwards to reveal the white strips that resisted the ink.
  • To turn this into an infinity shaker I stuck the card panel into a stamp storage pocket. To close it I trim the storage pocket down so that theres only about an inch and a half on excess past the card. Cut the corners off that flap and use strong double sided tape to fold it over and adhere it down.
  • To make it into a card that will stand up on its own and have somewhere to write a greeting, I use more strong tape to adhere the shaker down to a white a2 notecard trimmed slightly smaller than a2 so that it’s hidden behind the shaker.
  • For the front, I die cut a Hero Arts Infinity Tag out of white glitter cardstock and stuck it down to the front with more strong tape & added some ribbon to embellish
  • For my sentiment, I die cut the Hero Arts Christmas fancy die from foil card stock as well as stamped and heat embossed some secondary sentiments onto black card stock. I adhered all of this down to my tag with strong liquid adhesive.

I hope I’ve been able to give you some last minute inspiration to enter our Christmas in July challenge, I can’t wait to see what you create!!

Christmas in July!

July 24, 2017

Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today… on July 24. I’ve been getting so many “Christmas in July” posts in my feed and email that I just had to pull out my own Christmas supplies and create a project! Luckily, both Hero Arts and our partner for the month of July, Winnie and Walter, have some gorgeous holiday stamps.

I decided to step out of my normal creative box and do something a bit more monochromatic with a chalkboard technique. To start, I heat embossed the two deer from the Hero Arts Deck the Halls mini set by Lia Griffith onto some black card stock. Next, I placed the beautiful sentiment and foliage sprigs from Winnie and Walter’s Merry and Bright with Evelin T Designs in the center, along with some snowflakes from the Snowflakes by Lia mini set from Hero Arts, and white heat embossed them all.

To create my “chalkboard,” I find that a combination of different strengths of white is important. I use white embossing, white pigment ink, white gel pen, and white colored pencil to create different depths on my card front. To my heat embossed panel, I stamped more snowflakes using white pigment ink, then added further little dots of snow using my white gel pen. I also added some little flourishes here and there with my white pencil. Finally, I swiped my white pigment ink pad around the edge of the black panel, then dabbed my finger in the ink and brushed it over the greeting and some of the snowflakes, to give the illusion that I’d erased something.

The final step was to adhere my chalkboard panel to a shimmery white card base using dimensional foam adhesive!
Now, it’s your turn! Simply use your Hero Arts stamps (and hopefully, Winnie and Walter if you have them!) to create your own project! The theme this month is florals, so pull out those pretty flower stamps and add your project to our link up! Be sure to follow all of the rules so that your project is eligible to win the prize from our fantastic sponsor, Winnie and Walter!
