Video: ABNH loves Gossamer Blue

March 25, 2014

Hi there,
it’s Christine, bringing you a new video.
As you all know we’re using Gossamer Blue along our loved Hero Arts supplies this month and let me tell you: Their stuff is YUMMY! Gossamer Blue supplies are perfect for scrapbooking AND for cardmaking.
I decided to show you how I like to cut digital files (with my Silhouette) from white cardstock and color it with Hero Arts inks. White cardstock is less expensive and you can color it just like you need it to match your project.

This is the card that I created:

And here’s the video:

And don’t forget to enter you paper piecing project to our current challenge. There’s a pretty fabulous prize to be won 🙂

A Video: Bookmark with dimension

February 25, 2014

Hi everyone!
It’s Christine with a brand new video.

Do you like reading? I wish I had more time to read, but I can’t stop crafting in my free time. 🙂 I still love bookmarks and they also make a nice little gift for friends who love to read.  So I took out some Hero Arts goodies and some of the awesome supplies from Elle’s Studio and created a video on this bookmark:

Don’t you think this makes reading even more fun? So check out the video so see the how-to (and also the beautiful back with paper from Elle’s studio – so sorry I have no photo of that).

I love to play with all kinds of watercolor to create ombre effects or rainbows. Well, this is only a part of a rainbow, but it looks bright and makes me smile.
Remember to get out you stash and play along in our current challenge. It’s all about rainbows! There’s Simon Says Stamp Gift Voucher to be won 😉

Time for a Video: paste on vellum

January 25, 2014

Hi everyone, it’s Christine 🙂

Have you ever used Hero Arts cutting files? I love to use background files to create stencils. I’d like to show you how much fun it is to use embossing paste on vellum – don’t you think this looks gorgeous? I decided to make videos for my posts this year – if you’d prefer photo-tutorials please let me know 🙂

So, this is my card:

And this is the video. (I’m sorry. I sometimes don’t find the right words and it’s even worse if I have a cold or a flu).

Remember to get out you new stash and play along in our current challenge. There’s Simon Says Stamp Gift Voucher to be won 😉

Hope your start of 2014 was fantabulous and kicked your mojo!

Dear Santa: Week 4, Day 4 Christmas Quickies

November 28, 2013

Happy Thursday Crafters, and a very Happy Thanksgiving Day to all of you who are celebrating! This week we are bringing you inspiration (and prizes) in the form of Quickies. Here are even more quick (and super cute) card, gift and treat ideas for your holiday crafting needs.

Our sponsors for this amazing month of inspiration have been Simon Says Stamp, Hero Arts, Avery Elle, Lawn Fawn, Neat & Tangled, Cas-ual Fridays, American Crafts/Amy Tangerine and Kelly Purkey. And we would like to thank them, and Santa, for being so generous.

Look at this wonderful design from our guest designer, Tenia Nelson.  Don’t you just love this adorable gift package idea? I just love the wreath with little sprayed berries…such a beautiful effect. And who wouldn’t be happy to get this little gift bag full of Copic goodness? Tenia, I’ll send you my address!

And now for our second guest designer of the day. Rachel Izakowicz has designed a set of 3 x 3 cards in some of my favorite Hero Arts neon colors…these cards are little but they certainly have a big WOW factor. Who wouldn’t be merry after getting one of these?
Rachel Izakowicz

Sue Mc Rae has made some Triangle Treat Boxes  that are too cute for words. There are so many possibilities with these fantastic treat boxes. I could see them being used to send to a classroom for the holidays, or as party favors on your holiday table! Or maybe you could even fill some with yummy treats for your favorite pets. And with all these fun combinations, there is sure to be one that is perfect for everyone on your list !

Sue had also been sweet enough to share her template to print out to make your own triangle box –Triangle Box Template

This fun altered notebook from Christine Drogt certainly makes me smile! I love how she combined these fun chipboard images with a masked envelope pattern background and the pink and green combo is one of my all time favorites.

What can I say about these tags from Lucy Newton? I love them all!!! Great combo of fonts and backgrounds, and I am just LOVING the snowman tag with the candy cane striped background.  Handmade gift tags are a quickie that makes any present extra special.

Hope you have time for one (well two) last quickie! It’s mine. I have made two quick and simple cards. Lots of white space, 1 image and one sentiment…and a little pop of color. Super easy!

Now that we have looked at all that yummy goodness (please go visit the girls blogs if you have a minute. It means so much to us!) let’s talk prizes. We will be giving away:
$25 Gift Certificate from Avery Elle, $20 Gift Certificate from Lawn Fawn , Simon Says Stamp is offering a big 6×8 sampler set and last but not least Hero Arts will be giving away a prize pack from their 2014 catalogue!

You don’t want to miss a chance to win these goodies so make sure you comment on **this post** for your chance to win. Thanks for stopping by to visit us! We hope you found tons of inspiration!

selfmade stencil and modeling paste

October 25, 2013

Hi everyone!

Paste is everywhere these days, right? Using it with stencils to create gorgeous backgrounds is trendy – and fun!
Well, I don’t have too many stencils by now, so I like to use my dies to create my own “stencils”. I tried to die cut different acetate sheets, but my die-cutting system (called “double do” – I think it’s a German thing) won’t work with acetate. So I use ultrathick cardstock – this works quite fine.
Let’s have a look:
1) Pick a die and take out your ultrathick cardstock:
2) I lined up my Memory Box Piestra Tile die twice to create my stencil.
3) That’s what my stencil looks like.
4) I tape down my stencil on top of my cardbase and carefully spread the modeling paste all over the stencil.
5) Remove the stencil and let everything dry. (You can also use a heatgun to speed this up!)
Ready is your background! Yay – that was easy!
And here is the card I created with this background, using the beautiful flower from CAS-ual Friday Stamps:
