Embossed Background & Color Stamp Layering

July 3, 2019

Hi there! I’m on the blog A Blog Named Hero for another card with the June Challenge 2019! Have you already joined the challenge with your sympathy cards? If you don’t, you have some time to do so! Join us uploading your cards until July 10th, 2019 for a chance to win a voucher with 50$ or 25$ on Hero Arts online store!

I made two cards because I was experimenting with some colors. The processes on the two cards are the same, except for the colors.

I started stamping the Venetian Fleur-de-Lis Bold Prints on top of a black piece cardstock, using Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

On a piece of white cardstock, I used the mini MISTI stamping tool in order to double stamping the image. I stamped the flower from the Color Layering Calla Lily stamp set with blueish inks. First, I stamped the first layer with Soft Pool ink, then I stamped the second layer with Summer Sky ink, and I stamped the fine lines of the last layer with Navy Mid-tone Shadow Ink. Later, I followed the same process for stamping the leaves. As the leaves had two layers, I stamped the first one with Moss Bold ink and the second one with Forever Green Mid-Tone Shadow ink. I die cut all the pieces with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the sentiment from the Color Layering Calle Lily stamp set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment on a strip.

I assembled this card in a very simple way. I first glued a piece of Arctic cardstock on top of a white notecard and over this, I attached the embossed background. I glued the flowers and the leaves together and adhered over the background. I also added the sentiment strip above the flowers and the leaves with some foam tape.

To finish the card, I added some Nuvo Drops English Mustard at the center of each flower. Also, I added different types of sequins to the background – black confetti and blue bubbles sequins. I added some green bubbles sequins on top of the leaves, too. These bubbles sequins came with a past kit, so they are not available anymore but you can find some similar options HERE, HERE and HERE. Finally, I added some gold shimmer to the flowers and leaves.

I also made another card with the same products but different colors. I heat embossed the background with Gold embossing powder. Also, I stamped the flower with Soft Yellow Shadow ink, Butter Bar Mid-Tone Shadow ink, and Orange Soda Shadow ink. For embellishing this card, I just added some gold and black confetti here and there. These confetti embellishments came with the My Monthly Hero February 2019 and it is still available.

I hope you like these cards! Join us to this June Challenge 2019! Thank you!

See you the next time!

Sending My Love

March 8, 2019

Hey there, it’s Juhi with my post for the month. Today, I’m sharing a floral watercolor card, it features one of my favorite floral stamps – the gorgeous flowering magnolia stamp from Hero Arts.

I started off by stamping the magnolia flower on a watercolor cardstock panel with black ink, masking it and stamping a few more flowers in the background with grey ink. I then watercolored the focal image with zig clean color real brush markers. Everything was going great until now but I managed to spoil it (as I usually tend to do when things are going great!) by splattering some purple distress oxide ink. I tried to salvage the piece by spraying water and dabbing with a paper towel which made it worse. I then added lots of green watercolor paint to camouflage the purple splatters.

I finally finished off the card by cutting the watercolor panel in two around the flower and mounting the two pieces with a little gap in between on a pink cardstock base.

I hope you like how my card finally turned out. Do you also mess up perfectly beautiful projects while trying to add something extra or is it just me?

Magnolia Congratulations

February 8, 2019

Hello everyone, it’s Juhi here sharing a floral card for our ‘Crafter’s Choice’ Challenge.

I don’t know about you but I am already dreaming about spring. Even though we were lucky enough not to have a very cold winter here in California, the last few days have been really cold. I live on a street lined with Magnolia trees and I can’t wait for them to bloom!

I’ve tried some no line coloring with Prisma Color pencils on kraft card stock. On hindsight, I feel I should’ve used shades of yellow and cream color to shade the flowers.

I hope you like my card. There’s still a couple of days left to play along the Crafter’s Choice Challenge. We love to see what you create.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Warm Wishes

January 8, 2019

Hello everyone, it’s Juhi here with my first post for 2019. I hope you enjoyed the holidays with friends and family. I certainly did and now I’m charged up for the new year! I made today’s card for the ‘Winter’ Challenge, there’s still a couple of days left for you to play along.

I’ve used the Color Layering Cardinal which is one of my favorite winter stampsets.

I began by stamping the bird onto watercolor paper. I wanted to add a watercolor wash background around it so I covered the stamped bird with masking fluid and let it dry. I also splaterred some masking fluid with a brush on the rest of the watercolor panel. Once the masking fluid was dry I painted the watercolor background and peeled off the masking fluid once the paint was dry. I finally stamped the branch and added snow with a white gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you get a chance to play along with us in our Winter Challenge, we’d love to see what you create!

Fall Color Inspiration

November 8, 2018

Hello everyone, it’s Juhi here with a card for this month’s Color Inspiration Challenge. I hope you are enjoying beautiful fall weather. Even though we don’t get to see too much of the gorgeous fall colors where I stay but the weather is still lovely.

I’ve used My Monthly Hero September 2018 kit for my card.

I colored the stamped images with the Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors that came with the kit. The colors on the sampler go perfectly with this month’s color inspiration challenge.

I finished off the card by adding highlights with a white gel pen to the colored images.

You still have some time to play along in the Color Palette Challenge! We love to see what you create!
I hope you enjoyed my card today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
