Meet Design Team Member Juhi Khanna

March 10, 2018

Happy Saturday! Juhi Khanna joining you this morning from sunny California. This is my very first post on A Blog Named Hero and I am so excited to be here!

I have been stamping since 2009 and like a lot of other stampers, my stamping journey started with Hero Arts. My very first stamps were from Hero Arts and they still remain my favorite! Needless to say, being a part of the super talented A Blog Named Hero Team is like a dream come true for me.

Now, over to my first project as a part of the A Blog Named Hero Design Team. I’ve made a card featuring the beautiful Layering Peacock Stampset. I love all color layering stampsets by Hero Arts but the Layering Peacock set is my favorite!

I used my MISTI stamping too to stamp the peacock with dye inks in colors, Grape Juice, Ultra Pink, and Antigua. The colors are relatively unusual for a peacock but I love how it turned out. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background circular panel and stamped the peacock feathers randomly with Ultra Pink Dye Ink. Splattered Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink on white textured cardstock to create the white background panel.

The peacock is perching on a hand cut branch, I also added some flowers to finish the card. Here’s a closer look at the gorgeous peacock.

Meet Design Team Member Jeanne Jachna

March 8, 2018

Hi!  I’m Jeanne Jachna.  I’m so excited to be joining A Blog Named Hero as a design team member!  I’m a married, stay at home mom of two young adults, and one very active Akita puppy. I live in Northwest Indiana near Chicago.   I like to read, garden, and cook, but I have been completely captivated by paper crafting.  I can’t resist a new set of stamps, bling, big bows and colorful paper.  I love to layer on lots of die cuts and mix different patterned papers together.   My time crafting is a sweet escape and a fun way to express myself.  I started my blog, A Kept Life, in 2011.  I’m blessed with the many friends I’ve made who share my paper crafting obsession and so excited  to meet you!!
My card today is a good  introduction to my style!  I love bold clean colors and color blocking is one of my favorite techniques.

I started by cutting ombre shades of blue card stock in 1 1/8″ wide strips.  I attached the strips on their reverse side with washi tape and then trimmed the panel slightly smaller than my A2 size card base.
I stamped a sentiment from the Make A Fountain stamp set with  Deep Ocean ink on the lightest shade of card stock.
I attached three die cut Paper Layering Feathers flat on the colorful panel.  I wanted to give the impression that they were floating on the page.

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate the opportunity to share my creations with you and look forward to seeing your style on projects you link to our monthly challenge!

Thinking of You

November 24, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back today with more clean & simple inspiration as I play along with this month’s challenge to CASE one of the A Blog Named Hero designers!

I made a simple Thinking of You design, taking inspiration from a poodle card by Emily Midgett (seen below my card).

I just loved the classic red, white and black color scheme and polka dotted background on her card and wanted to create a similar design.  I used the adorable bunny from Neat & Tangled’s Holiday Baking set as my main image, adding just a touch of color to its cheek.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set.  The little candy cane is from the same set and is colored with a red Copic marker.  I changed the color arrangement ever so slightly, using a black polka dot decorative paper instead of red as the base.  I then used red cardstock as the matte behind the main panel.  The black polka dot paper was glued directly to the white cardstock card base.  Once assembled, the main panel was attached to the card using foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the overall design.  I then added just a touch of sparkle to the candy cane using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  Here is Emily’s original design:

You have a few more days to join us in this challenge!  We’ve collaborated with Neat & Tangled this month and are using their images as inspiration on our designs!

Until next time, happy stamping!

One Layer Thinking of You

September 22, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back with more one layer clean and simple for this month’s collaboration with CAS-ual Fridays!

With fall arriving this week, I went with kraft cardstock and created a monochromatic one layer design.

The background pattern is CAS-ual Friday’s Full on Floral stamp.  The bird is from the Hero Arts Color Layering Bird & Branch set and the sentiment is from the Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set.  Everything was stamped in Versafine black ink.

Come join us as we wrap up another month of challenge fun with one layer card designs!  You can find the current challenge and gallery here.

Until next time, happy stamping!

Sending Love

August 25, 2017

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back with more clean & simple inspiration as I play along with this month’s embossing theme!

Wow! is our sponsor, so I used one of their wonderful embossing glitters to create today’s design.

I used the Hero Arts Luggage Tag Alphabet set, stamping each letter in pink ink and embossing with Wow! Velvet embossing glitter for a fun, sparkly look.  Each letter was popped up with foam adhesive for dimension.

The smaller sentiment is from the Hero Arts Sealed with a Kiss set and was stamped in black.  I added three clear star sequins as embellishments to finish the design.

Until next time, happy stamping!
