How About A Giveaway?! Oh, and a bit of business ;)

April 20, 2012

First of all a couple of bits and pieces 🙂

1.Thank you to everyone who sent us a DT Application email, we were thrilled with the response and overwhelmed by the amount of talent that came pouring in! Our decision has been made, and we will be contacting everyone within the next few days (we will be replying to both successful and unsuccessful applicants). The announcement will come soon after that!

2. If you enter any of our challenges (via the inlinkz tool) and link us to a photo that is in a Splitcoast Stampers forum, we will not be able to comment on your project. (We don’t have an account in order to log in). Your project will still be included in the draw for any prizes etc, but there will just not be any comment from us.

3. When entering giveaways etc, please ALWAYS be sure to include your email address otherwise we can’t contact you!

4. To the winners of the Celebration Week giveaways, prizes will be mailed out in the next week. Sorry for the delay 🙂

We still have not heard from 5 people who were lucky enough to win a giveaway prize. We have emailed the two who included their email addresses (thank you!) but the following three need to contact us at ablognamedhero@gmail.com within the next 3 days (so, by midnight USA EST Monday 23rd April) or we will do a re-draw and offer the prizes to someone else 🙂 (so please reply to us!!)

Once again three stunning cards, yet all so different.
I love the layout of the first one and what a great way to use up scraps – but like you say, it doesn’t look like it.
The second one is so cute and I love the paper piecing.
The Hydranga looks stunning. What a clever idea to create the background with it too.
Thanks again for such inspiration!

Distress Watercoloring Tutorial with Chari

April 18, 2012

Hi Everyone, Chari here today to share with you a little tutorial about watercoloring with your distress inks & markers.  Distress inks are one of my favorite supplies but I only recently started watercoloring with them. In this video I will use the inks as well as the markers so no matter which you have in your stash you can use these techniques too.

I will apologize now for the beginning of my video, my phone did some funny stuff to the first few minutes of my recording…but we’re just going to call it super cool effects! 🙂

Here is a shot of the finished card.  I only colored 2 flowers because I knew I would be cutting them off and wanted to waste as little as possible. The thing I like best about watercoloring is it leaves room for imperfections, and being the perfectionist that I am I need a medium that can be forgiving of my mistakes at times. It’s also easy to add and take away color with watercolor which is a nice feature as well (more wiggle room for correcting mistakes).

FloralHooray

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and it has inspired you to get out your favorite distress inks and some water and play!

Congratulations to you all!!

Winners, please email us on ablognamedhero@gmail.com to claim your prize! (Please include your home address and be sure to use the email address you used when commenting, so we can confirm we’ve got the right people!)

All winners were chosen by random.org (I have the fifteen screenshots to prove it! lol). Prizes will be sent out randomly to each of the winners. The prizes are a Hero Arts Newspaper Eiffel Tower cling background stamp (offered by Jennifer) and a Hero Arts ‘Goodie-bag’ to the value of $20 (offered by Heidi)!!

(Please note we will not be able to send specific prizes out to specific people if they request it, as the prizes are already packaged up and we have no way of knowing what is in each envelope/parcel).

Thank you so much to everyone for your amazing support and really lovely comments, and of course to the fifteen incredible crafters we featured!

Take care and we’ll be back SOON!
