Joy To You

November 24, 2020

Hello there! Seeka here and today I have a holiday card with tropical vibe. I had different intentions when I started this card, but as the background came together it began to remind me of tropical waters and I found myself choosing a floral ornament with a color combination reminiscent of a Hawaiian shirt.

I started by using Embossing & Watermark Ink and Sparkle embossing powder to heat emboss the Abstract Linocut Bold Print background stamp onto an A2-sized piece of Paradise cardstock.

Next, I used the Poinsettia and Ornament Fancy Die to cut the ornament from white cardstock, and the sentiment die from the Joy Stamp & Cut set to cut “joy” from Papaya cardstock. I stamped a small sentiment from the Joy set in Intens-ified Black ink onto a strip of white cardstock.

To assemble the card, I trimmed the background to about 4″ x 5.25″ and then used foam tape to adhere the ornament and sentiments. To finish, I used more foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Don’t forget to check out this month’s challenge! The theme is Glitter and Sparkle.

Thank you so much for visiting!

Holiday Joy

October 24, 2020

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Seeka here and today I have a shaker card to share. Shaker cards are a perfect fit for this month’s challenge theme, “A See-Through Element.”

I started off by heat embossing the Hand Drawn Snowflakes background stamp, with Ultra Fine clear embossing powder, onto an A2-sized panel of Lavender cardstock. Then, I used a http://ablognamedhero.com/2020/10/challenge-time-for-october/blending brush to blend a bit of Orchid ink over the corners of the panel.

Next, I used the Joy Ornament die to cut a circle out of the panel. I also used the die on a piece of white cardstock and set that piece aside while I worked on the shaker.

To create the shaker, I used double-sided tape to adhere a piece of acetate to the back of the lavender panel. Then I adhered a double-layer of foam tape around the back side of the round opening, to contain the sequins, and along the perimeter of the panel. With the panel facing down, I poured a bit of Icicle Sequins mix into the area behind the round opening and then I removed the release tape from the foam tape and adhered another panel of Lavender cardstock.

To finish the card, I added the ornament chain and then adhered the card front to a card base.

Thanks so much for visiting and don’t forget to visit the challenge to link up your project for a chance to win a Hero Arts gift card!

Clean And Simple Wintry Day

September 24, 2020

Hi there, it’s Seeka and today I have a clean and simply wintry card to share.  This card features the gorgeous Decorated Winter Branches Window die, and a sentiment from the Snowy Town stamp set.

I started by working on the background which is an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Using foam blending tools, I blended Carved Pumpkin, Scattered Straw, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks onto the panel.

Next I used the die to cut a piece of Neenah Solar White.  Then I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

To assemble the card, I used foam tape to adhere the die-cut panel to the ink-blended background.  Then I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting, and don’t forget to join in the latest challenge!

Today Is Your Day

August 24, 2020

Hello! Seeka here and today I’ve got card that depicts where I want to be at the moment, relaxing in a tub with a view of green hills and a clear blue sky.

I started by stamping the bathing lady from the Bubble Bath stamp set in INTENS-ified Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I colored her up with very light colors: C1, C2, and C4 for the tub and towels, BG000 for the bath water, and YR20, E21, and E34 for her skin.  Then I used the coordinating dies to cut her out.  I also used the Window On The Garden die to cut a window out of an A2-sized piece of Neenah.

Next, I used the Vineyard Heroscape stamp set to stamp the green hills.  I stamped the base layer in Lime Green, the second layer in Fresh Lawn, and the final layer in Pine.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the hills.

I created a blue sky by blending Splash and Blue Hawaii Reactive inks onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I adhered the hills onto this panel, and then adhered the window panel on top of this vineyard scene.

To finish the card, I adhered the bathing lady with foam tape, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting and don’t forget to join in this month’s challenge!

Just Floating By To Say Hello

July 24, 2020

Hello! Seeka here and today we’re going under the sea with an ink blended sparkly background and a cute little guy from the new Need A Hand stamp set.

I started by blending Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks, in a circular pattern, onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock. After ensuring that the ink was dry (I happened to put this aside to dry for several hours while I worked on other things), I used Embossing and Watermark ink to stamp the School Of Fish Bold Prints background stamp over the panel. Then I poured Sparkle embossing powder over the panel and melted it with a heat gun.

Next I stamped the octopus in Copic-friendly Intense Black ink. After coloring him up with BV31, BV02, and BV13, I used the coordinating dies to cut him out. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock and then backed both pieces with foam tape.

To assemble the card, I adhered the octopus to the background and then adhered the sentiment, tucking it under a couple of tentacles. I trimmed a little bit off each side of the panel and then adhered it to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting and be sure to visit this month’s challenge post to enter your project for a chance to win a gift card to Hero Arts!
