Happy Birthday Card

March 3, 2020

Hello there! It’s Cha here with another card for a birthday. There are a few days left so that this challenge is going to end. If you have not joined us for this February Challenge, you have an opportunity to do it! If you win, you will get a 50$ gift certificate, also another crafter will be chosen randomly and will get a 25$ gift certificate! Hurry up and upload your birthday cards! Let’s start creating a birthday card!

I decided to make a simple card using several Hero Arts products from two different My Monthly Hero kits. They are not available but you can find other similar products at the Hero Arts store. Remember that there are optional subscriptions in order to purchase these monthly kits. If you are interested, check them out here!

My Monthly Hero kit – July 2018

My Monthly Hero kit – February

First of all, I picked the fancy die that came with one of the kits (the July 2018 My Monthly Hero kit) and decided to create a mask from this die using Masking Paper. I just wanted to use the frame of this die and the centerpiece. Then, I added the masks on an A2-sized panel. For coloring this card background, I used Distress Oxides but you can use the Hero Arts Reactive Inks. The colors that I used were Squeeze Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. Besides, I sprayed some water and some shimmer to this background. I waited a few seconds and removed all the masks from the panel.

As I wanted this card simple, I just stamped a small present on white cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers – R89, R46, Y19, Y02. I used the Mini MISTI Stamping Tool to get a more crisp image. I used the coordinating die to cut the image. This image was from the February 2020 My Monthly Hero kit  which I said this is not available. I added this image in the middle of the card with some adhesive foam circles.

I stamped the sentiment underneath the image with black ink, Hero Arts Intense Black ink. The sentiment was also included in the February de 2020 My Monthly Hero kit.

In order to arrange this card, I glued a piece of black cardstock on a white card base. I trimmed a little bit the edges of the main panel and glued it on top of the black piece so that a black frame is shown around the central panel.

For finishing this card, I just added some gold shimmer to the present and some confetti sequins to the background.

I hope you are encouraged to take part in this challenge before March, 10th.

Thank you so much!

A Magical Card with Muted Tones

December 3, 2019

Hi there! It’s Cha! I’m here at A Blog Named Hero to show my card for this November challenge – Muted Tones Cards. I’d always created cards with vivid and striking colors and from now on, I must say that I would like challenging myself by creating cards with softer colors. Yes! It was a challenge for me! For this card, I used one of my favorite cardmaking techniques, masking, to create a magical scene combining some Hero Arts stamp sets. Join us in this November challenge until December 10th for a chance to win a gift card!

I used a piece of 4,25 by 5,5-inch white cardstock. I used my mini MISTI stamping tool to stamp all the images. I placed this piece in the stamping tool and stamped one of the unicorns from the Dragons & Unicorns Stamp Set with Soft Sky ink. I die cut the same image of this unicorn with its coordinating die on masking paper in order to mask this unicorn. Then, I used the Color Layering Sleepy Moon stamp set. I stamped the first solid image from this set with Soft Yellow ink and stamped the same image on a piece of masking paper in order to mask also the moon on the card.

Before moving on coloring the images, I preferred coloring the background first as I had all the images masked. I die cut some clouds from the Color Layering Sea & Sky, Frame Cuts on masking paper. I masked some areas on the background and started coloring with Soft Pink ink and Fresh Peach inks, using an Ink Blending Brush. I moved the masked clouds around the background while I colored with the brush. Then, I removed the masking piece from the unicorn and colored around the moon with Soft Yellow ink, using the ink blending brush, too. I removed the masking piece from the moon and stamped the other layers of the moon with Dandelion ink. Later, I colored the unicorn in soft colors with Copic markers. For coloring the unicorn, I did not do anything fancy, I just added some dots to the unicorn to give a little bit of interest as well as the halo around the unicorn that we could see when we removed the masking piece that we die cut with the coordinating die.

I stamped the sentiment from the Dragons & Unicorns Stamp Set with Soft Granite Ink and some stars around the background with Soft Pink Ink.

I hope you like this card and remember that you can join us in this challenge for a chance to win a gift card. Be sure to upload your cards with soft colors before December 10th. We are waiting for your cards!

Thank you so much!

Partial Masking

November 3, 2019

Hello there! It’s me, Cha! Today I’m at the blog A Blog Named Hero showing you my card for this challenge that is going to end in a few days. I encourage you to post your cards with a nature theme in order to win some prizes! Good luck!

For this card, I used an acrylic block in order to stamp images from the Tropical Flowers stamp set on the background here and there. I stamped the images with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and used white cardstock. Then, I masked the center of the card using one of the dies from the Rectangle Infinity Dies set.

For coloring the piece, I used Copics. I colored the whole piece except for the area just in the center of the card with the masking piece.

I removed the masking piece and traced the lines for the rectangle in the center of the card, using a black pen and a ruler so that I could trace straight lines. I traced these lines several times to make them a little bit wider.

I used one of the sentiment from the same stamp set (Tropical Flowers stamp set). As I wanted to heat embossed the sentiment, I used the mini MISTI to stamp the phrase twice even three times. I used black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink after using an anti-static powder tool. Then, I added some White Embossing Powder and heat it with my heat tool*. I heat embossed the sentiment several times. I cut the sentiment in one strip, and also, I cut the word “sweetest” separately.

I adhered the panel to a white card base and glued the sentiment in the center just in the area that is no colored with foam squares.

I gave some highlights to the flowers using a White Gel Pen and added some small dots to the background with a Gold Gel Pen.

To embellish this card, I added some shimmer to the flowers in the center. Also, I added some iridescent sequins to the background and two little hearts around the sentiment. What’s more, I added dots in the center of the flowers with a Gold Gel Pen and the Mustard English NUVO Drops.

I hope you like this card and… don’t forget to participate in this challenge! We are waiting for your cards! Thank you so much!

ABNH Inspired by - Cha LionArt 1

Hello,  Cha here!  About a month ago, I saw a gorgeous card on Instagram. That card was created by Debi Adams and you can see the card on HERE. I’m a big fan of her cards! I changed a little bit the process because Debi used two pieces of colored cardstock but I preferred to mask and color the piece. The technique that Debi showed to us is how to dry emboss a die-cut image through design. Debi created a beautiful Christmas card with new Hero Arts products but, I created a card for Valentine’s Day, using the same technique. Let’s see!

First of all, I used the Window On Love Confetti Fancy Die from Hero Arts to die cut a piece of masking paper, using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. I put the masking piece over a 4,25 by 5,5-inch white notecard in order to blend some colors. Using an Ink Blending Tool, I blended some Distress Oxide Inks – Fired Brick and Candied Apple. Here comes the magic that Debi made. I placed the die again over the notecard, lining up every heart. I temporarily taped the metal die which I used and the notecard. I used the platform in tab 1 from the die-cutting machine. First, I put a cutting pad on this platform, then an embossing pad, added the metal die with the piece of the cardstock and, finally, added the other cutting pad. The metal die has to be upwards in order to create this type of impression. If I wanted more dimension, the only thing that you would need to do is to pass the piece through the die cutting machine several times. I passed through the die cutting machine several times until I was satisfied with the result.

As you can see, the rest of the card is too simple. I die cut some pieces with the metal die “hugs” on white cardstock and gold cardstock. This die comes in the My Monthly Hero kit February 2018 (Love this kit!) which is still available although you can use another one that you already have. I also used the stamp with the phrase “i love you” that came with another kit which is not available anymore but you can look for other stamps with phrases that you can use. I stamped this phrase with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Glitter Gold Embossing Powder. I cut around the phrase by hand.

To finish this card, I added the background on a card base. I stuck three white “hugs” and, on top, I adhered the gold one. I attached the entire piece in the center of the card and glued the phrase underneath with some foam tape. Finally, I added some gold shimmer to some hearts from the background and I added some hearts and iridescent sequins here and there to the background.

I hope you like this card and get inspired to upload your cards inspired by another crafter on A Blog Named Hero! There are some days left to join us in this challenge and… you can win some prizes! Let’s see what you create!

Thank you! See you soon!

A New Perspective with Chibitronics

September 3, 2019

Hello there! Cha here and I would like to show you another card for the “Stretch Your Stamp” Challenge. Like my previous card for this challenge, I used a die set but giving it a twist. I hope you feel inspired to create your cards for this challenge! There are a few days left to join us in this August Challenge!

ChaLionArt - ABNH Challenge - Stretch your Stamp 1

For this card, I used the Hot Air Balloons Nesting Infinity Dies for creating my card but in a different way. The aim of this set is to create a hot air balloon as this set is named but I used this set for creating a light bulb!. I picked two of the dies of the set that I lined them up and die-cut on a piece of white cardstock. I just wanted the frame for creating a bulb-shaped window card. I also used the smallest die from these two dies that I chose to die cut the front and the back of a white folded card so that we can see the inside of the card. I also die cut two pieces on a piece of acetate.

ChaLionArt - ABNH Challenge - Stretch your Stamp 3

I glued the piece of acetate on the front of the card and started making the circuit for giving light to this bulb. I folded a little piece of cardboard that would hold the battery and glued the piece at the bottom right side of the notecard. I created the light circuit by adding the copper tape which will go from this folded piece of cardboard to the center of the piece of acetate, meaning that I had to create a “road” that goes from the battery to the led lights. I split the copper tape into two fine strips. I added one strip (positive terminal) from the base of the cardboard to the center of the acetate piece and added another copper strip (negative terminal) from the cardboard piece to the piece of the acetate without overlapping both copper strips. I added a yellow led light in the center of the acetate piece, between the two copper strips (the positive and the negative terminals). I made sure that this led light was a little bit on top of each copper strip. I added double-adhesive foam strips around the folded cardboard piece and added the battery correctly focusing on the terminals of the battery and the copper strips.

ChaLionArt - ABNH Challenge - Stretch your Stamp 5

I created the bulb base on a piece of Silver Mirror Cardstock that I cut with scissors and left aside for a while. Besides, I die cut a small circle on Pitch Black Cardstock from the set Circle Nesting Infinity Dies. The sentiment that I picked was from an old My Monthly Hero kit (August 2017) that is not available anymore but there are many sentiment sets that you can use. I used an anti-static powder tool before I stamped the sentiment on the circle with Versamark Ink. Then, I heat embossed the sentiment with White Embossing Powder. I heat it with my heat tool*. Later, I added double-adhesive foam strips around the acetate piece and at the bottom of the acetate (bulb base), next to the cardboard piece that holds the battery so that I added the circle with the sentiment on top of the battery and the piece that I created as the bulb base next to it, too. I also added another piece of acetate and the bulb frame that I created previously on top of the foam strips that were around the bulb. In the inside of the card, I added a circle previously colored with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink.

ChaLionArt - ABNH Challenge - Stretch your Stamp 2

To embellish this card, I added some adornments to the base bulb – I did some lines with the Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen and added some silver glitter. What’s more, I also added some dots of Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen here and there and added some gold glitter. I gave some gold shimmer to the frame of the bulb and added some gold confetti and stars on a piece of the acetate and some black confetti around the front panel. The confetti was included in the My Monthly Hero kit February 2019 that is still available.

I hope you get inspired to create cards for our August Challenge that is going to end in a few days! Show us your cards for this month!

Thank you so much!
