A Card with a See-through Element

November 3, 2020

Hello there! It’s Cha here with another card for this October challenge. Remember that you can use a transparent element to your cards and Hero Arts products to join us in this challenge. There are a few couples of weeks left before this challenge ends. I hope you could join us!

For this card, I used the Cloudy Sky Scene Dies, and a piece of acetate to create this card. I picked a Dove folded card and I trimmed the front of the card leaving a strip on the left side so that we could glue the clouds on top and the piece of acetate. So, I die cut the Cloudy Sky Scene Dies from White Dove Premium Cardstock using my Die Cutting Machine, Sizzix. Then, I glued these clouds on the left side adding some adhesive tape on the strip that I left from the folded card. Later, I added another cloud piece behind the main one and added the piece of acetate behind. Finally, I  added another cloud at the upper right corner and cut off the excess.

Now that I had the background planned, I colored the top part of the inside of the card so that you could see the inside from the acetate window. I masked the bottom part and the left side. I put over the Sun Background Stencil and colored it with the Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks, using an ink blending tool. I removed the masking pieces and, as you can see in the photo, there is enough space to write the message inside!

I used the images from the My Monthly Hero kit May 2020. I decided to use the hot-air balloons and the airplane. I colored the images with Copic Sketch Markers. I did not do anything fancy at coloring because I’m not an expert. I also stamped some stars on top of the clouds using some Hero Arts inks – Soft Pink and Rose Madder. I also stamped some hearts here and there with Intense Black ink and colored them with Copics.

In order to stamp the sentiment, I used the Mini MISTI Stamping tool because I cut with scissors the sentiment strip that comes with the kit so that I could add it at the top left corner. I placed every word on the lid of the MISTI and I stamped this sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink several times.

To embellish this card, I added some dimension to the airplane with the Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen, and I added a little shine to the images with the NUVO Aqua Shimmer Pen. Finally, I added some star sequins.

I hope you like this card. Grab your Hero Arts products and create a card today. Don’t forget to join us on this challenge! You can participate in this challenge until November 10.

Thank you so much!

A Cute Birthday Card!

September 3, 2020

Hello there! It’s me, Cha. Today I’m up at A Blog Named Hero with another card with this Cute Challenge for this August 2020. Remember to use Hero Arts products to join us in this challenge. This challenge will end on the 10th of September. For me, cute cards mean cute critters or animals. So, this card is with a dog in the sky. I know many crafters have lost furry friends. My dog, Tara is 11. I cannot imagine how hard would be to be without her. So, this card is for those dogs that are barking in heaven.

First of all, I picked a 4,25 by 5,5-inch Hero Arts Canary Premium Cardstock (soft yellow cardstock) to create the background. I placed the stencil on the cardstock and held it with masking tape temporarily. The stencil that I used is called Hero Arts Sun Background stencils. I blended some Distress Oxide inks using an Ink Blending Tool, you can use a blending brush or sponge dauber. The inks that I used were Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Distress Oxide Mustard Seed. You can also use Hero Arts Reactive inks. Later, I sprayed some water to the background and dried with a cloth. Also, I trimmed the sides of the panel with Tim Holtz trimmer. I left this piece aside to continue with other elements.

Later, I die cut a cloud on Hero Arts Dove Premium Cardstock (white cardstock) from the Cloudy Sky Scene Die. I adhered to the bottom of the background that I’d created earlier with some Foam Tape.

I used my Mini MISTI Stamping Tool to stamp several times the dog and the balloon from the Birthday Paw-ty stamp set. I stamped the dog with the Hero Arts Intense Black ink and colored both images with Copic Sketch Markers. I used E31, E33, E79, 100, R27, R46, R89. I also added some white dots to the birthday hat that this dog wears, some black to his eyes, and some shimmer to the balloon. I added these elements on top of the cloud using adhesive tape and a piece of the adhesive foam circle.

For the sentiment, I also used the Mini MISTI Stamping tool to stamp the sentiment several times with Versamark ink on Hero Arts Black Pitch Premium Cardstock (black cardstock). Before stamping, I applied an Anti-static tool to avoid the powder adhered to other parts of the card that I did not want. Then, I added some Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and dried with a heat tool. I repeated the process twice. I cut myself the sentiment around the letters and added to the bottom of the card with adhesive foam strips.

To finish this card, I added some balloon sequins that came with one of the past kits of Hero Arts although it is discontinued you can see the sequins HERE if you could find something similar. These sequins were pink but I decided to color them red to fit with the colors of the card. I colored these balloon sequins with Copic markers and added them to the card.

And this is my card for this challenge! I hope you join us with this challenge! You can visit my blog if you are interested in more inspiration!
Thank you so much!

A Beautiful Scene for the May Challenge

June 3, 2020

Hello there! It’s Cha here to show you my card for our monthly card challenge. You can still join us in this challenge until June 10 for having a chance to win some gift certificates. Use Hero Arts products and create a wonderful scene for sending hugs from a distance! This challenge is about this difficult time that the whole world is confronting. We want to see your cards! I hope you feel inspired by our cards and show us yours!
To make this card, I picked a piece of 4,25″ by 5,5″ Dove Premium Cardstock and die-cut the cover plate die with a facade of a house that came with one of the Hero Arts kits (My Monthly Hero kit November 2019). I die cut all my pieces with the Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine although you could use the one that you have already. Once die-cut, I colored the front using alcohol-based markers (the Copic markers), apart from the Chrismas decoration that surrounds the top window from the front because I wanted to create a decorative arch to put on it. To cover this part, I aligned two of the circles from the HA Circle Infinity Nesting Dies and die cut both at the same time. Then, I cut the extremes with scissors and cut two tiny rectangles to embellish the ends of this arch. I also colored this arch with Copics markers.
The Copic Sketch markers that I used for coloring this card, were the followings:
The bricks: C-00, C-1
The door: B05, B16, B18
The door frame: C-1, C-4, C-7
The floor: 100
The carpet: R27, R46, R89
The lamps: C-1, C-4, C-7
The plants: C-1, C-4, C-7, YG03, YG17, YG67
The arch: C-1, C-4, C-7
At that moment, I thought I could remove the little triangle pieces from the window that is surrounded by the arch, and the lamps that are on each side of the door so that I could add a piece of acetate behind the panel to give some dimension to the card.
Later, I blended some yellow ink. I went for the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink to color the front part of a White Folded Card base. I put the panel with the facade of the house over the card base and traced the door opening with a pencil. Then, I stamped the sentiment with HA Intense Black ink inside that opening and over the yellowish background. Once stamped, I erased the pencil lines.
I added adhesive foam tape and foam strips behind the card panel and adhered it to the card base later. I decided to stamp the word ‘Welcome‘ on top of the carpet with HA Intense Black ink.

To embellish this card, I decided to glue some envelopes to the door mailbox and in the opening door. I also added the knob of the door with some dimensional glue pen as it is the Hero Arts Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen and also, I added some dimension to the arch. Finally, I added some shimmer to some of the elements of the card, the pavement, and the arch with the NUVO Aqua Shimmer pen.
And this is all! I hope you like this card as I do and see your cards joining us in this challenge that will come to an end soon. Thank you so much and see you the next time!

Watercolor with Metallic Glimmer inks

May 3, 2020

Hi there! Cha here with another card for our current card challenge that is Watercolor. I hope you are enjoying this challenge as much as I am and I invite you to join us before it comes to an end in a few days. For some inspiration, I will be using some Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic inks for creating my card for today’s post.
First, I picked a piece of watercolor paper in which I stamped the Hero Arts Crafting Tools Bold Prints with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Embossing Powder. I had first applied an Anti-static powder tool so that no particles of powder adhere to where I did not want to.
Then, I colored the piece with Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks mixing the colors in between. I used Blue Glimmer Metallic, Red Glimmer Metallic, Pewter, and Gold Glimmer Metallic. I let this background dry for a while.
I created the sentiment by stamping one of the phrases from the Hero Arts Crafty Messages Stamp Set. I placed a piece of Hero Arts Mustard Premium Cardstock in my Mini MISTI Stamping Tool and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink. I heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Embossing Powder. Later, I fussy cut the sentiment.
I glued a piece of Hero Arts Pitch Black Premium Cardstock on top of a 4,25 by 5,5-inch white top folded card. Later, I trimmed the sides of the background that I had colored with glimmer inks and adhered to the top of the card base with adhesive foam tape. Finally, I added the sentiment with adhesive foam circles.
I wanted this card simple, so I just added a little bit of gold shimmer on the images with Nuvo Midas Touch Shimmer Pen.
And that’s it! I hope you like this card and feel inspired to create your own watercolor card and join us in this April challenge!
Thank you so much and see you soon!
Stay safe.

Home décor

April 3, 2020

Hello there! It’s me, Cha! I want to show you this idea for the March challenge. I hope you are going to love this idea for decorating your home. Remember this March challenge is going to end by April 10th. Make sure to use your Hero Arts products to create something different except a card and to join us in this March challenge. Let’s started!

First of all, I picked heavyweight vellum, such as the Hero Arts. I used four sheets of vellum to create this decoration. You can use your MISTI Stamping Tool if you want to but I preferred not to use it because I used a Cling Stamp which is easy to stamp without using a stamping tool. I used the Hero Arts Venetian Fleur-de-lis Bold Prints that is a 6″ by 6″ rubber stamp. I faced the rubber up on my work surface so that I could press the vellum down on top of the stamp. So, I used an Anti-Static Powder Tool first on the vellum sheet and inked the stamp with Versamark Ink. Then, I pressed the vellum down the stamp firmly and I heat embossed this piece with White Embossing Powder. As it is a sheet of vellum, I trimmed the piece down to the size of the stamp (6″x6″) excepting the right side that I left 0,75″ and scored it to create the lap for gluing this to the next side of this candle decor using adhesive tape.

I created three more pieces like this one. Then, I wanted to create something similar to a square, so I glued each lap to the next piece of vellum until I created this square.

Finally, I added this decorative square on a decorative plate and added artificial candles inside. However, you can create one of these as a vase for indoor plants, cacti or flowers.

I hope you understand this process and like this idea. Also, I hope you get inspired to join us in the March challenge!

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!
