Hi there! Kate here…
I’m so glad that this month’s theme is Anniversary since it’s the month of my wedding anniversary. This card is going directly to my hubby of 24 years!
Did you know that you can make your own colored cardstock with your ink cubes?
Here I took some 1/4 inch strips of Bristol Smooth 110 lb cardstock (thicker paper holds up better) and swiped my ink cubes (Soft Pool, Pool, and Navy (AF 380)) across the strips. Keep swiping until you get the color you want! I even swiped the strips into the 2 blue sections in the Ombre pads (Mermaid AF365 and Dolphin AF364).
Adhere the 5 strips (or as many as you’d like) across your Artic white cardstock (PS314) and use a rectangle die (D1798) to cut a highlight panel in the center of the card front. Pop this up with some foam tape.
Now onto the butterfly from the Color Layering Monarch Butterfly (CM331).
Stamp the outline image in Intense Black Ink (AF345). Here’s the tricky part–take the first layer of the butterfly (the more solid one) and stamp it into only the top 2 rows of the Ombre ink pad (Mermaid AF365)–not the purple part. Make sure you get good coverage and blending by moving the stamp around a bit. Stamp down and then use the detail stamp in Pool to add the final details to the butterfly.
And here’s another tip–glue down the body of the butterfly and only pop up the wings for added dimension.
This card is so versatile and you can choose any colors you’d like. Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to enter the challenge. I look forward to seeing your creations.
