I am beyond excited to be part of the A Blog Named Hero Challenge design team! It has been my dream to be part of this team for awhile now as I am a huge fan of Hero Arts!
Let me introduce myself. My full name is Anna Patricia Celdran Mahtani — haha, yes that is a mouthful of names! I was born, raised and currently live in the Philippines. I am married to a very supportive and loving husband and we have three teenage girls, ages 15, 14 and the youngest turning 13 next month. I’ve been an avid paper crafter since I was a child – Origami, scrapbooking, decoupage, paper mache etc. Four years ago I discovered cardmaking and have been hooked ever since. A Hero Arts Cling Stamp was one of the few stamps I started my stamp collection with! I am @craftyannastudio in all my social media handles. I am really looking forward to inspiring you all in the coming year!
This month’s inspiration is Anything Goes. And since it’s a day after Valentine’s Day, I created something fitting for the occasion. My real inspiration for this card was a conversation I had with my crafty friends just the other week. We were discussing how slow the mail was and possible reasons behind it — the pandemic, the holiday season etc. – that some cards I had mailed out in November still have not reached the intended recipients! It was then I thought to myself – wouldn’t it be nice if letters and cards sprouted wings and flew straight into their hands! Thus, the inspiration for this card!
I took a panel of watercolor cardstock and cut it down to 4.25″X5.5″ . Then I took some Blue Hawaii, Splash and with a little bit of Thistle reactive inks and swiped them on my glass mat, sprayed it generously with water and dabbed my watercolor cardstock on the mat picking up the inks. I repeated the process until the whole panel was covered with ink. Then I set it aside to dry.
While it was drying, I die cut several of the envelope dies from the US Mailbox fancy die set out of Dove White cardstock scraps. I layered each of them, three layers thick for some dimension. I colored each of the envelopes with copics. I looked in my stash for a die that resembled wings and I found a leaf die from an old My Monthly Hero kit from February 2018. This is how I transformed a leaf die into “wings”. Then used copics to highlight the folds in the wings. I adhered the wings onto the back of each envelope.
I die cut some little hearts from smallest die from the Heart Infinity die set out of Dove White cardstock scraps. I shaded them a little with copics and adhered them to the envelopes.
I die cut the clouds from the Cloudy Scene Fancy dies set using Dove White cardstock. I adhered it to the topmost part of the ink smooshed card panel. I stamped the sentiment “Sending You Love” from the My Monthly Hero May 2020 card kit with Intens-ified Black Ink.
I added little black “trail” marks with a .5 micron pen then adhered the little envelopes onto the card. I added shine to the little hearts with a shimmer pen for a finishing touch.
I do hope you were inspired by my creation! I can hardly wait to see what you create for our challenge!
Sending you all lots of love!
