Hello everyone, I hope you are working on cards for the latest challenge which is “Cute”. I have been playing with a lot of mixed media lately and so while my card is not cute in the traditional way, I do think the pineapple below is cute.
I die cut the pineapple fancy die from some dove white cardstock and then cut around it to separate it from the paper. This die is neat because you can actually keep it attached to a card front or just cut around it and you get all those neat pieces that pop up too. This was messy but fun to make, I got out a Gelli plate and brayered some green ink onto it and scratched it with a bamboo skewer, then I pressed the pineapple down onto the Gelli plate and took a print. Then I mixed some yellow with some gold paint and printed the bottom portion of the pineapple. I took another die cut pineapple and painted the body of it brown and the top a darker shade of green and then put foam squares in the center and attached the top pineapple to the bottom with glue around the sides so it curved up in the middle. I used a craft pick to pull up the die-cut pieces so you can just see the darker bits of the base below.
I brayered some more of that green onto an A2 piece of card and a bit of gold and yellow too and my background was done! SO EASY! I glued my cute pineapple on top and added the aloha sentiment from an older Hero Arts pineapple layering set, and there you have it…”who lives in a pineapple under the sea…..?” There are som many great fancy dies that you could make with this easy technique.
Make sure you enter the challenge and show us all of your cute cards. See you soon. Lee Ann
