Merry Christmas

August 27, 2020

Hi everyone, Caren here today.  In honor of the 2020 Winter card catalog release yesterday from Hero Arts, I created a card with one of my favorite background stamps Christmas Lights Bold Print.

I stamped the Christmas Lights onto a black piece of card stock with Versamark Ink and used gold embossing powder to heat emboss the image.  I die cut out the portion that I wanted with a stitched scalloped rectangle die.

I used an older Hero Arts set – Christmas Sentiments – for my Merry Christmas sentiment.  I again heat embossed on black card stock with gold embossing powder.  Also, inked the edges of my sentiment rectangle with Versamark ink and added gold embossing powder.

I added shimmer to all the light bulbs with a shimmer pen – this doesn’t show up in the pics 🙁  I popped my sentiment up on the card using dimensional adhesive to finish the card.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to join in on this month’s challenge!

Today Is Your Day

August 24, 2020

Hello! Seeka here and today I’ve got card that depicts where I want to be at the moment, relaxing in a tub with a view of green hills and a clear blue sky.

I started by stamping the bathing lady from the Bubble Bath stamp set in INTENS-ified Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I colored her up with very light colors: C1, C2, and C4 for the tub and towels, BG000 for the bath water, and YR20, E21, and E34 for her skin.  Then I used the coordinating dies to cut her out.  I also used the Window On The Garden die to cut a window out of an A2-sized piece of Neenah.

Next, I used the Vineyard Heroscape stamp set to stamp the green hills.  I stamped the base layer in Lime Green, the second layer in Fresh Lawn, and the final layer in Pine.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the hills.

I created a blue sky by blending Splash and Blue Hawaii Reactive inks onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I adhered the hills onto this panel, and then adhered the window panel on top of this vineyard scene.

To finish the card, I adhered the bathing lady with foam tape, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting and don’t forget to join in this month’s challenge!

Messy Paint and Fancy Dies

August 21, 2020

Hello everyone, I hope you are working on cards for the latest challenge which is “Cute”.  I have been playing with a lot of mixed media lately and so while my card is not cute in the traditional way, I do think the pineapple below is cute.

I die cut the pineapple fancy die from some dove white cardstock and then cut around it to separate it from the paper. This die is neat because you can actually keep it attached to a card front or just cut around it and you get all those neat pieces that pop up too.  This was messy but fun to make, I got out a Gelli plate and brayered some green ink onto it and scratched it with a bamboo skewer, then I pressed the pineapple down onto the Gelli plate and took a print.  Then I mixed some yellow with some gold paint and printed the bottom portion of the pineapple.  I took another die cut pineapple and painted the body of it brown and the top a darker shade of green and then put foam squares in the center and attached the top pineapple to the bottom with glue around the sides so it curved up in the middle. I used a craft pick to pull up the die-cut pieces so you can just see the darker bits of the base below.

I brayered some more of that green onto an A2 piece of card and a bit of gold and yellow too and my background was done!  SO EASY!  I glued my cute pineapple on top and added the aloha sentiment from an older Hero Arts pineapple layering set, and there you have it…”who lives in a pineapple under the sea…..?” There are som many great fancy dies that you could make with this easy technique.

Make sure you enter the challenge and show us all of your cute cards.  See you soon.  Lee Ann
