Inspired by RlBreaks

September 30, 2019

092019_InspiredHi all! Its Gwendolyn here to share a project I did to inspire you to join our challenge this month, which is to make something which was inspired by another crafter. I made a calendar which was inspired by a talented new to me crafter called Richard Breaks.September calendar.jpgI’ve had the idea to create my own calendar for a while now but it wasn’t until I saw Richard’s calendars on Instagram that I decided to go for it. So I went to my local (and only) art store and bought a 12-page 300gm watercolour pad as I could then use either alcohol markers or watercolours.September calendar mid.jpgI chose to highlight cakes for September as I was in York, in England, for a week’s training on Intercultural Communication, and I couldn’t resist trying all the scones there, as I LOVE scones! I used Hero Arts Tea Time and Mouse Tea Party stamp set to create my little scene and watercoloured it with my Hero Arts reactive inks. It isn’t my best water-colouring as I haven’t done any for afew months now, but I’m still happy I got time to do it!September calendar cuWell, I hope I’ve inspired you to create something, which was inspired by another crafter, and I really look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations in the link-up here.

Have a great start to your week!blog signature

Happy Halloween

September 27, 2019

Hi crafters!  It’s Caren here, hope everyone had a great week.  I’m ready for the cooler weather, it is still pretty warm here in Oklahoma.

For today, I have a one layer Halloween card to share.  I love making Halloween cards, I think its the bright purple, green, and orange colors.  I used the Pure Magic stamp set and Happy Halloween die from the September My Monthly Hero kit to create my card.

ABNH_09272019

I started by drawing a line on my card base to ensure my bottles were lined up.  I then stamped the bottles using a couple of masks where the bottles would over lap.  I added masks to the rest of the bottles and some post it notes to mask off the area below the bottles.

Next, I ink blended the top part of the card with a few shades of purple distress ink.  I removed the masks and colored the bottles with Copic markers.  I stamped the stars from the same set in black ink onto the card.  I added glossy accents on the bottles to look like glass.

I ink blended with orange and purple distress ink on a piece of white card stock and then die cut Happy Halloween from it.  I die cut the Happy Halloween two more times from white card stock and adhered the three die cuts together.  This is a great way to give a little dimension to the card.  I adhered this to my card and added a few green jewels to finish the card.

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

September 24, 2019

Hello friends, Seeka here with a winter-themed card featuring the Snowflake Pattern Cover Plate die.  I know it’s only the second day of fall, but I was really excited to get this cover die and couldn’t wait to try it out!

I started by blending Distress Oxide inks onto an A2-sized piece of white cardstock.  I blended Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, and Seedless Preserve inks to create a pretty diagonal gradient.  Then I created a splatter effect by sprinkling clean clear water over the panel.

I die cut the panel with the Snowflake Pattern Cover Plate die and then splattered it again, this time with white gouache.

To finish the background, I adhered the die cut over a piece of cardstock that I’d covered with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.  I applied glue around the frame and then only to the centers of some snowflakes so that they would lift away from the background for a bit of dimension.

For the sentiment, I used a stamp from an older Hero Arts stamp set in my stash called Kelly’s S’no Problem.  I used white embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment three times onto cardstock that I’d covered with Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink.  Then I trimmed the sentiment strips, backed them with foam tape, and adhered them to the card front.

Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you for stopping by, and don’t forget to join in this month’s challenge!

Inspired by…

September 21, 2019

Inspiration is a funny thing, it can hit us at any time or place and it can also disappear for periods of time. When I lose my “Mojo” I take a look around me at different colors, paper, social sites, and other crafters. Usually, something hits me as an”oooh I really like that or I want to try…” fill in your blank here. Those moments for me are portholes to new ideas and taking inspiration and stretching or twisting it to make it your own.

This months challenge is a tip of the hat to all of the other crafters that inspire us every day to make something pretty. In our challenge post, I was inspired by a card from Kristina Werner and today I showing a card inspired by Seeka @skypaperscissors, the link to the card I was inspired by is here: My inspiration from Seeka

This design is beautiful and easy to do and can be done with any medium to large size florals you have. You can also change it up and use a different color other than black as your background.

ABNH_inspired-by-seeka

I started by using a rectangular piece of masking paper centered on my A2 card base leaving a .5″ border so you could see the florals stamped in black. If you were making a bigger card you could even go wider with the border. I stamped all of my border roses with the Hero Arts Antique Roses woodblock stamp and removed the masking paper, and saved it for another card.

I used my ruler and a micron pen to draw the borders at the corners and taper them off at the ends you just list and release the pressure on the tip of the pen.

I then stamped, die-cut, and colored in the Antique Rose Stem woodblock. Hero also has this in a clear stamp and they have a coordinating die. I used zig markers in the lightest colors of blush and tea rose and then used some Prismacolor over the top to smooth it out.

I chose the sentiment from the “A little bird told me” clear set and arranged the pieces so the sentiment fit in the curve of the layered smaller rose stem.

I mounted the die-cut roses with foam and added some Wink of Stella on the rose petals for shimmer and a few clear water drops to frame the sentiment.

I hope you are as inspired by this as I was Seeka’s card. I am starting to soften my color palettes as well now that it is fall.  These old roses have that sort of end of summer feel to me.  Enjoy and make sure to enter your inspiration card into the giveaway check out the details here!

Friendship Blooms |HA + Gina K

September 18, 2019

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here with a gorgeous “just because” card featuring the HA + Gina K Friendship Blooms Collaboration stamp set.

I started by stamping the main image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured in the image using Spectrum Noir TriBlend Markers. Can you believe I only used two markers for this whole card? It’s true! I chose the Purple and Dull Green (3 markers in 1) Blends.

2A5F836F-9832-4009-8D91-4CC1F8145924.jpeg

Next, I worked on the background and blended Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink using a stencil from my collection.

To finish off the card I added a sentiment strip, coordinating sequins and 3D foam tape for dimension.

Have you joined our September Challenge? This month it’s all about inspiration, check out all the details here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
