45 years have fluttered by

May 30, 2019

It has been so much fun this month celebrating with Hero Arts and their 45 years of bringing us amazing stamping products.

I purchased my first Hero Arts stamp over 30 years ago and I still have all the catalogues I purchased from them as well. Browsing through them brings back wonderful memories of projects I created with their stamps.

For today’s share I’m actually using a couple of NEW stamp sets I recently purchased.

I wanted to create a simple card but add interest by layering ink on the background.
I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle from watercolor paper and then used the Teal Hero Arts Liquid Watercolor to add a light wash over the left side.

Next, I used the Rain Dance Hero Stencil and the Green Apple Ink with my Life Changing Brush to add a little contrasting detail to my background. (you know me and green and blue – love it together).

The final step for the background was to use my Misty Stamp Positioner to stamp 3 of the butterfly stamps from New Day Butterflies Combo set in black in and to try and resist the urge to color them haha.

I layered this to a piece of Kiwi card stock before attaching it to my Hero Arts Adriatic card base.
I stamped another single butterfly onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# card stock with the Hero Arts Intense Black ink and used my copics to color it before cutting it out with the coordinating dies.

The final piece for the card was white heat embossing the sentiment onto a scrap of black. the sentiment is from a New to me set “hand drawn Everyday Messages” and I love the font in this set.

Congratulations to you Hero Arts on your 45 years, and for being such a positive leader to this stamping community of ours. Here’s to many more successful years ahead.

Thanks for Everything

May 27, 2019

Hello everyone!  Has everyone had a chance to join in on the blog hop for Hero Arts 45th Anniversary?  There are so many awesome creators and giveaways celebrating the greatness of Hero Arts!

I recently went on a trip to Florida and took along my Zig markers with a bunch of stamped images.  I hadn’t had a chance to use the Venetian Neighborhood Cling stamp yet, so this was the perfect opportunity.  This was such a fun stamp to color!  I love all the windows.  I paired this with a sentiment from the Beautiful Day Agapanthus stamp set.

Don’t forget to join in on this month’s challenge celebrating Hero Arts.

Hey Succa!

May 24, 2019

Happy Friday, friends! Seeka here and I hope you’ve had a good week. I don’t know about you but I am really looking forward to a long weekend of getting inky! Today I’m sharing a card using a stamp set I’ve had my eye on for a while, especially for this punny sentiment!

I started by stamping one of the potted succulents from the Succulent Stamp & Cut in Copic-friendly Intense Black ink. Then I used YG0000, YG11, G14, and G05 to color the succulent, and B32, B34, and B37 to color the pot. I used the coordinating die to cut out the image and then set it aside.

For the background, I used Hero Hues Premium Cardstock in Pebble. I die cut it with the Abstract Graphic Texture die and then adhered the panel to an A2-sized card base. I really like this die for tone-on-tone texture and I thought its angles and spikes would be a good match for a succulent-themed card.

For the sentiment, I used the same black ink to stamp “Hey Succa!” onto a strip of white cardstock, and then layered that strip over a strip of black cardstock.

To assemble the card, I adhered the sentiment strip to the card front, and then used foam tape to adhere the potted succulent.

Thank you so much for visiting us!

Here are the amazing creations that the A Blog Named Hero Design Team have come up with. We’ve all made cards that remind us of our roots in the crafting community–whether old or young!–and they are of course, roots in Hero Arts.

Hero Arts stamps were my first stamps, over ten years ago, and this little girl was and still is a favourite (I wish they’d re-release her and do more so she could have friends!) I just love Hero Arts for the designs, the quality, but mostly, for the incredibly supportive creative industry they helped create–Hero Arts, you were a life saver for me!! THANK YOU
I’m so grateful to Hero Arts for starting me on my card-making journey! Here I’ve used the same sentiment that I used for my very first Instagram post just last year. It’s from the Stamp & Cut Love set and I’ve paired it with some floral images from the December 2018 My Monthly Hero card kit. Thanks for the opportunity to celebrate with you!

This card was made using the kit that made me fall in love with cardmaking a year ago! I’ve never looked back 🙂

My first My Monthly Hero kit was May 2017! It was my very first stamp set that I ordered online! So glad that I did!
Happy 45 Hero Arts! I love when a stamp set is absolutely perfect for a specific occasion or memory. For me that set is Road Trip, it’s a touchstone of a summer vacation filled with laughter, warm campfires and adventure in our most eastern province. We didn’t exactly stay in a camper, maybe we’ll be brave enough next time!

I’ve been using Hero Arts for so long I couldn’t decide on a favorite! My oldest stamp (Happy Birthday) Dates back to 1996, I was 11 though so I think that was a hand-me-down. Crafting runs in the family 🙂
Cheers to 45 Years of Hero Arts! Thanks for keeping us al creative for 45 years!
So excited to help celebrate Hero Arts 45 years! For my card, I mixed the old with the new. The sentiment is from my very first clear stamp set from Hero Arts called Birthday Sayings. For the new, I used the Flower Garden Bold Prints background stamp.

As I have only been crafting for 3 years, I don’t have old Hero Arts stamps but this gorgeous wood block stamp is one of the first stamps I bought. I hope that Hero Arts never stop dreaming up such beautiful designs!

Ok now onto the ‘business side’ of the hop!

Winners will be drawn from people who leave comments along the blog hop over the three days – comment all three days for more chances to win! Comment by Sunday, June 2 at 11:59pm PST, and we will announce the winners on the Hero Arts blog the following week.

Let’s Celebrate!

May 21, 2019

Hi, everyone, it’s Lee Ann here. I hope you are all having a great week! Today I’m sharing another Celebration Birthday card featuring some of the first stamps that I picked up over 5 years ago at the Hero Arts Factory Store. This card for me shows that you can create something completely new even from your older stashed items.

I am loving the current trend of black and white left uncolored with a bright pop of spring colors. This palette in the center of the card is made up of, Hero’s Mid Tone Dye Inks Butter Bar, Bubblegum, Fresh Peach, Pale Tomato, and Soft Vanilla. I used a long paint strip stamp from my stash and over-layed the pretty pinks and yellows, then white heat embossed on top and added white gel pen details. I slipped this strip under the partially cut circles that I stamped in black ink with the top part of the tree stamp. I added some small illustrations copied from the stamp set with a black micron pen to fill in the blanks.

I used white gel pen and some nuvo drops in coordinating color for small embellishments and trimmed the corners for finish.

Be sure to check out our 45 years of Hero Arts celebration and join our May challenge! Click here for all the details.

Thanks so much for stopping by, More details on my blog if you are interested!

– Lee Ann
