Monochrome Rose

September 27, 2018

I hope your week is going well! Ericka here with another monochrome floral. I love trying to use one color in a variety of ways. Have you had a chance to play along with our challenge yet?

Here is my card, I wanted to use a fall color so I picked orange hues.

I started off by stamping the rose images on some Bristol Smooth card stock with Hero Arts Orange Soda. I then took some orange Tombow Markers to watercolor the images. After they were dry, I added in some color pencil to give the petals some texture. I fussy cut the roses and started on the background.

For the background, I started by using an old manila folder cut down. I took out orange Distress Ink paints and sprays and smooshed them on my mat to get a marbled effect. When it was dry, I used a background stamp I had in my stash and some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I spritzed the stamp with a little water and then stamped the background.

I then die cut the hello from the Hero Arts March kit five times and glued them together and used some glossy accents to add a little shine. I hope you enjoyed my card today and I can’t wait to see what you will create.

Christmas Hogs!!!

September 24, 2018

Happy Monday crafty friends! Kim with you today featuring another Monochromatic card! That’s the challenge this month and you still have time to play along!

For my project I chose the Warm Hogs set by Hero Arts 🙂 I have always wanted a pet pig! I think I started bugging my parents for one when I was five (LONG time ago…) So my Mom decided to start a porcelain pig collection for me, lol! I still have not given up on having one of my own one day!

I started by die cutting a piece of Strathmore Bristol paper with one of my Rounded Rectangle dies so that I could do some ink blending using the Hero Arts Graphic Snowflake stencil and some Tattered Rose and Spun Sugar Distress Ink in the centre of the panel.

I then stamped and coloured my piggy with my Copic Sketch markers using R20, R01 and R000 and used the accompanying die.

I die cut my Hero Arts Christmas sentiment using Tonic mirror card stock. I lined up my die cut so that I could stamp the secondary sentiments and the snowflakes using Rose Gold embossing powder. Once that was complete I glued my die cut and my piggy to the card base.

To finish off I added some sequins to the panel and glued it to fun foam and placed it on the card base! You still have time to enter the challenge!

Thanks for taking the time!

Kim

Monochromatic Smile

September 19, 2018

Hello Crafty Pals! This is Karen and I am back with a monochromatic card that aligns with this month’s challnege at A Blog Named Hero.

If you have been following me, it seems that lately I have a special place in my heart for blue! I thought I should change things up a bit, so I decided for a green pallet for this card.

Starting with a piece of 110lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock, I prepped my panel with an antistatic tool and inked up the Figure 8 Bold Background with Versamark ink. The entire surface was covered in white embossing powder and heat set. Using Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide ink, I ink blended on the top of the pattern ensuring I inked heaviest at the top of the panel and allowed it to fade to white at the bottom.

On a scrap piece of white cardstock, I ink blended and then die cut my Smile sentiment using the die from the  Smile Stamp & Die Cut set – I cut an additional 3 sentiments out of white card stock so they all could be stacked for dimension. The sentiment strip is a white peice of cardstock stamped in Evergreen Bough Oxide ink. From a piece of vellum, I die cut a heart from the Nesting Heart Inifinity die set. I cut the stamped and inked panel down to 5.5×4 and adhered it to a top folding notecard. The die cut sentiment was added to the top of the vellum heart and added to the upper portion of the card and I then used glossy accents over the sentiment for added dimension and shine. For the smaller sentiment strip, I used foam tape to add it under the larger sentiment. To finish the card off, I added some sequins for sparkle and shine.

Okay! That is it. I hope this card inspires you to enter our challenge this month – I look forward to seeing all of your beautiful entries!
