ABNH July Challenge: Birthday Scenes

July 30, 2018

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend and your week is starting off right. I am sharing a birthday card for this month’s challenge, this time making a non-birthday scene into a birthday scene.

I really wanted to use the June My Monthly Hero, but building an ocean scene does not inherently lend itself to a birthday card. So After creating my ocean and sky scene (ocean from the layered stamps and the sky from ink blending), I searched through my stamps to find so stamps that I could use for fireworks over the ocean.

In an old New Year My Monthly Hero, I found some sparkles and small bubbles whose size would make them perfect for small silhouette fireworks over the ocean. I bet you have some stamp sets that have some sparkles or dots that could help you build a small firework scene!

After I created my firework birthday celebration, I stamped and die cut out some hibiscuses in some tropical colors and adhered them in an arrangement on the bottom of my card, so it looked like they were much closer to us in perspective than the beach. I added some Nuvo Drops as some dew drops and accents to our flowers and our card is complete! I think the silhouette fireworks, mermaid and sentiment in black help contrast our colorful tropical setting.

I hope these inspired you to experiment with your own birthday cards and I can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks so much for stopping by!

xoxo

Elephants Never Forget

July 27, 2018

It’s Ericka here and I hope you’ve had a chance to play along with our Birthday Card Challenge.

I have a fun and easy birthday card today using the Color Layering Elephant set and some Pom Poms I may have borrowed from my daughter.

I started by stamping the elephant on to some white cardstock using several gray inks I had in my stash. I decided to trace the outline of the image in some black ink to give it a little more definition.

I then took several Pom Poms and glued them onto the card and drew in the lines for the string. To finish the card , I stamped the sentiment and used a little washi tape from my stash. That’s it, a quick and fun birthday card, using just a couple of supplies, that can be for both kids and adults!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to play along with us this month!

Birthday Butterflies!

July 24, 2018

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! Kim with you this morning sharing a quick and easy Birthday card as the challenge this month is all about birthdays!

I decided to use the beautiful Butterfly Pair Stamp and Cut for my card today. I love the detail in these butterflies! I randomly stamped the two butterflies from this set on white cardstock.

I chose a rainbow array of Copic markers and colored them in order from top right down to the bottom left.

Once that was complete I die cut my panel with one of the Hero Arts Rounded Rectangle Dies and added some white gel pen detail on the centres and the wings of the butterflies.

I chose the fantastic Happy Stamp and cut for my sentiment and die cut it from black cardstock and fun foam. I felt the sentiment was lost with all the black so I chose this gold glitter paper and added that on top of the sentiment at an angle. I then white embossed the birthday from the Butterfly Pair set on black cardstock. I finished by adding some sequins. This card was quite simple and quick to put together.

Go check out the challenge you still have time to enter!

Sending Birthday Fishes

July 21, 2018

Hello, it is Karen Bull and I am back touting that you can never have too many birthday cards!

Since it summer and Hero Arts just released a ton of fun beachy stamps and critters, I had to use them all together.

Using selected stamp images from I’m a Beach Messages, Seas the Day Seagulls and Beach Please Stamp & Die, I scattered images on a piece of white cardstock. Images were stamped using Hero Arts Black Ink. I then colored each image was colored with my prism color pencils. For the hermit crab’s shell and the umbrella I used Glossy Accents to add shine. On the pineapple leaves, I used my shimmer pen first, then added a layer of glossy accents. The shell was covered in Morning Due Nuevo Drops.

The sentiment was from the I’m a Puffer for You stamp set and was heat set with white embossing powder on a black cardstock strip. I used clear confetti sequence to fill in the white space on the card. The entire panel was mounted to a piece of black cardstock and added to a top folding notecard.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I cannot wait for all the birthday wishes!

Cake and Confetti

July 18, 2018

Jeanne here today!  Have you checked out the theme for this month’s challenge?  It just started on the 15th so you have lots of time to join us!

This time we’re looking for Birthday cards!  And it’s not a birthday without a cake is it? LOL! I’m pulling out all the stops with cake, confetti, and some sparkly bling!

I started with a distress inked card stock panel that I die cut with the Party Confetti background.   I used Ranger Distress inks in Worn Lipstick, Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed.

The focal point of the card is a stack of Infinity Rounded Rectangles in white and gold.  I stamped the sentiment and confetti on the top panel.

I inked up the cake in colors to match the background.  The window frame die cuts make it easy to stamp and cut the images.

I sure hope you’ll join us this month!  I can’t wait to see what you make!

Finished Size 4.25 x 5.5″
