I am back with another post for A Blog Named Hero and continuing with the “put a flower on it” challenge for the month of April.
I was inspired by the Mouse Tea Party stamp set from Hero Arts. I thought the flowers (and the mouse) were so cute and that I could do a subtle flower theme for the the challenge this month. Once the card was complete, my crafty friend Karen (find her @karendejarnette on Instagram) suggested I photograph the card with a teacup in the background – enter my grandmother’s old tea set! Just darling!
If you look really close at the stamp set and the little mouse in the tea cup, she does not have a flower in her ear – I added that detail after the fact. Watch my video for me details about how this card was made.

On a piece of what Bristol Smooth cardstock, I stamped the small tea cup with the flower on it. I then made a mask and covered the image so that I could stamp the tea pot and other tea cup so that it looked like they were in the background. I then stamped the other details and the sentiment to complete the look. Using black versafine ink, I clear heat embossed the sentiment at the bottom to offer some shine. I colored the images using my Zig Real Color pens and a waterbrush to create shading.
The outside of the card was created using flowers from the stamp set and Soft Granite ink. I used a rounded rectangle die to lightly trace where I would die cut a window and stamped around the entire edge of the card.
Once the stamping was complete, I cut the center window using the rectangle die. I wanted card to look as though it was one layer even though it is not. I glued the little mouse scene to the back of the rectangle window and adhered everything to a side folding white notecard. For some shine and interest, I added confetti sequins to the project.
Thank you so much for stopping by this week and I hope you enjoy this month’s challenge! I look forward to the entries you create for this challenge!
