Christmas Tree Card Set

December 27, 2018

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are getting a chance to relax after all the hustle and bustle of the holiday. Or if you are like me, you are still sending out Christmas cards. Yes, this is the one thing that I always wait till the last minute to send, so instead they become “Hope You Had A Merry Christmas” cards lol.

Here are three more cards that I will be sending out a little later than expected but were so fun to make.

Have you had a chance to play along with out “Winter” Challenge this month?

The stamp and embossing folder is an older Hero Arts product that I still have in my stash, called Birds ‘n’ Trees Set. I made the gold embossed cards first.

I started the first one by using the embossing folder and then gold embossing the tree stamp. I wasn’t happy with the result and so reversed the steps by gold heat embossing first and then running the embossing folder through my die cut machine. The result was better details which can be seen on the card on the right.

I then trimmed down the panels and added them to a white card base. I added the “merry” die in glitter card stock and heat embossed the Christmas in gold.  To finish the card I added a little Nuvo Glitter Drops.

I also wanted to stamp the trees in blue so created a third card.

The details of the stamp really comes through in the ink. I used the same sentiments and glitter drops to finish of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to play along with us in our Winter Challenge!

Winter Fun!

December 24, 2018

Happy Christmas Eve! Kim with you today for my last 2018 post on a Blog Named Hero! The theme for this month is winter so I chose a fun winter scene!

For my card, the inspiration was the fun Sledding Stamp and Cut by Hero Arts. I just love this dog! I stamped my images and used my Copic markers to color the dog, sled and mouse. I used the accompanying dies and set them aside to work on my background panel.

I used Distress Oxide in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet for my background. Once the blending was complete I used my Distress Sprayer and some Picket Fence Distress Paint for the snow effect. I then die cut my full panel using the Hero Arts Rounded Rectangles and added a frame die cut from Mirror cardstock.

Placed all of my elements on the card base and finished off with some Hero Arts snowflakes, stars and a mix of Nuvo Drops!

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season spent with loved ones!

Sending Winter Hugs

December 19, 2018

Crafty friends – I am back with my last A Blog Named Hero post in 2018! The theme for December is Winter and is totally appropriate!

Recently, Hero Arts released the Warm Animals stamp set and the set has been sitting in my craft room waiting to be colored. This challenge was the perfect opportunity to bust them out!

  • Starting with Neenah Solar White cardstock, I stamped my images in a copic friendly ink
  • Once each critter was colored, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out
  • On a piece of craft cardstock, I white heat embossed the Graphic Snowflake Bold Prints stamp
  • The heart was cut using the Nesting Heart Infinity dies on vellum
  • For the sentiment, I used a greeting from the Polar Greetings stamp set and white heat embossed it on the craft cardstock
  • The craft cardstock panel was trimmed to 5.25×4 and added to a top folding notecard with craft foam and adhesive
  • I added the vellum heart and the critters with adhesive and foam tape
  • The sentiments were added on a playful slate with foam tape
  • I added Moonshine confetti from Simon Says Stamp for shine
  • Additional details were added like black gel pen for the critter’s eyes, glossy accents on the pom-poms and shimmer pen on the scarves

I hope you enjoyed this card and I can’t wait to see what you make for this month’s challenge!

Challenge: Winter

December 15, 2018

Good morning to you! We hope you’re having a good start to your weekend and if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere enjoying the colder weather. We thought we’d help you enjoy it a bit with our new challenge theme. If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere this theme will just help you look forward to cooler temperatures.

Make sure to read our challenge rules so that you are qualified to win one of our two monthly prizes sponsored by the wonderful Hero Arts!

Now that I’m typing this post, I guess “Winter” is a bit of a vague description, due to our worldwide audience. So let’s describe it as chilly winter, ice blues, winter holidays, snowmen, snow covered mountains, etc. If you’re somewhere where winter means sunburn, please consider this extra challenging. 🙂

And now for some inspiration from our design team members. Click on the photograph to go directly to their blog for more details.

The challenge runs until January 10th and there are two prizes up for grabs. A $50 gift certificate and a $25 gift certificate to Hero Arts!

Challenge Winners: Grateful

December 13, 2018

Thank you to all of our participants this month. It’s a busy time of year, so we are grateful that you took the time to join us.

We have two winners each month. Our chosen challenge winner will win a $50 gift certificate to Hero Arts and a randomly chosen winner will win a $25 gift certificate to Hero Arts!  Winners, please send us an email at ablognamedhero@gmail.com and we’ll set you up with those prizes!  And, of course, many thanks to Hero Arts for sponsoring our challenge!

Our randomly selected winner is:

Gwendolyn!

#15, Gwendolyn. I love this image, and how soothing the colors are, makes me feel calm. We all need calm this time of year. 🙂

Our chosen challenge winner is:

#21, Dandi93. This card is just beautiful, and even though that floral image is an oldie, it’s definitely always going to be a goodie. Ha.

Please make sure to email us to claim your prizes, there is a new catalog coming from Hero Arts next month, so this will help pay for your wishlist!

A couple of other entries struck our fancy, so we thought we’d share them here for all to see.

#3, Debbie Rumpza. Adorable, love all the different coffees features, and it makes me want a cuppa!

Grateful holiday

#12, Teri Wilson. We love anything with a wreath, but add in kraft cardstock and gold? That is definitely swoon worthy.

We’ll be back in a couple of days with our next challenge. We hope you’ll be as excited about it as we are. Have a great day!
