Happy Birthday

April 12, 2017

Hello everyone!

Coralynn here with a card I made for my husband’s birthday for Anything Goes challenge. He commented on the gems when he opened the card and I told him that everyone needs a little sparkle once in a while. 🙂

Now on to today’s card.

I started with white card stock and the Large Flower stencil from Hero Arts and distress inks.  I placed the stencil on the paper and used a mini ink blending tool and blended in the colours from dark to light towards the outer edges.  I then took the nested postage stamp dies and cut out the front panel.

Then I took a piece of black card stock and the sentiment from the Many Everyday messages stamp set and heat embossed it with silver embossing power.  I then added it to the card front and added a couple small pieces of foam tape to the sides so they wouldn’t droop.  I added a few gems from my stash and popped the whole from panel onto black card stock and then added that to a white card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by and we hope you get a chance to join us with our Anything goes challenge.

Flower Dot Pattern

April 10, 2017

Did you hop along with our blog hop last month? If you did, you might have seen two cards from me using my favourite Hero Arts stamp, the Flower Dot Pattern background.  I have to apologise in advance – this stamp is discontinued 🙁  But the technique I used would work with lots of other Hero Arts background stamps, so it is making another appearance here today.

The technique is the same I used in the March 25th blog hop – stamp and heat emboss the image onto watercolour cardstock, colour with Zig markers, then spray with lots of water, heat set, then repeat the colour and water step if desired.  This technique works particularly well with stamps that have enclosed line images, making little areas that trap water and colour. It results in some areas getting more intense colour than others, and so there is heaps of variation in the shades you get. Seeing as this stamp is discontinued, I will link below to other Hero Arts stamps that I know (or think) would work particularly well with this technique.

By the way, I have been in contact with Hero Arts after all the comments I had on my blog last month about how disappointing it is that this stamp is discontinued.  Unfortunately, I’ve been told that there are no plans at the moment for this stamp to be revived, but I will always keep a lookout for stamps that will work well with techniques like this one in new releases from Hero Arts.

Have you linked up at our April challenge yet? The theme is Anything Goes, so you really should!

Thanks for visiting 🙂

Wishing you Oceans of Joy

April 8, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you are enjoying this months challenge.

If you want to check it out then just click on the image below or in the sidebar.

One of the things I am loving at the moment is layering stamps. I have to admit when they first come around I LOVED the look of them but they scared me ! I am pretty rubbish with lining up stamps (thank god for the Misti) then when Hero Arts  brought their layering stamps out I knew I had to get over and purchased some and I have to say I feel in love.

If you haven’t tried layering stamps I highly encourage you and they really are awesome to work with.

For my card today I am working with Hero Arts  Seahorse Layering set.

I wanted a fairly clean and simple card so on the main card piece I used an ink blending tool to add some colour to the card.

I then set about stamping up the elements that I wanted to use from the set.

The ink pads I used are pictured below

Never overlook you Ombre ink pads as indivdual colours also using your white (especially the dye based white) can give fantastic results.

You can see here on the middle shell I used Wet Cement for the base colour and then the white dye ink for the detailed layer and it has worked perfectly.

Once I die cut my elements out I wanted to work out placement for everything on the front of the card , I knew where I wanted my sentiment so I stamped that, I also knew where I was placing my Seahorse so once I had worked out the rest I added some bubbles from the set.

I then set about adhered everything to the panel. On the actual card base I adhered some paper I had in my stash and adhered the main panel onto.

I decided to add some dimension by using some Nuvo Jewel drops on the bubbles to finish the card off.

And that it was it all finished.

I hope you like the card and I hope it has inspired you to have a play with layering stamps.

Happy Crafting

Colorful Wedding Card

April 7, 2017

Hello, happy Friday!  Kelly here sharing my card for April’s challenge, Anything Goes.

I am attending a Indian Wedding this month which will be very colorful and I needed a colorful card for the couple.   I used a fun technique I learned from watching a Justine Hovey YouTube video.  I taped a piece of water colour card stock onto a board, painted the card with clean water then dropped water colors on the card stock  (I used the wet on wet water coloring technique).  Then I put a Hero Arts stencil on my colored card stock, taping down the edges.  My card stock really warped even though it was taped down and the stencil was not making enough contact with the card stock so I weighed down the stencil with a large acrylic block and let it dry over night.

I die cut the Hero Arts “happy” die twice from black card stock and twice from pink, adhering the layers.  I stamped the “wedding day” with a stamp positioning tool (I didn’t want to mess up my water color panel by stamping crookedly) where I wanted it on my water colored background before adhering the happy die cut.  The water colored background has a piece of fun foam adhered to the back of it for some dimension.  I colored the happy die cut with a sparkle gel pen than coated it with some glossy accents.  Finally I adhered some crystals upside down because I like how they looked and the sparkle they added.

Thanks for coming by, have a great day.

Happy Birthday

April 5, 2017

Hello everyone!

It’s Donna here to share another project with you featuring Hero Arts!  How did you enjoy the 5th Anniversary Blog Hop?  To stay in the line of celebration, there is a new challenge for this month and it is “anything goes”.  We want to see your love of Hero Arts, so please join in on the fun!

Here is my card for your inspiration:

I am using the Hero Arts Layering Large Orchid stamp set and the sentiment is from one of my favorite sentiment sets by Hero Arts called Year Round.

  1.  My car is an A2 card,
  2. I used the Hero Arts rectangle infinity dies for my layers,
  3. I used the 80lb neenah paper to stamp my flowers,
  4. I added my sentiment with Hero Arts black ink,
  5. And finished my card off with some sequins.

My card is a clean and simple card, if you have not used the layering stamp sets they are so easy.  Most of the combos come with suggested inks you can use. I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge, there will be one random entry can win a prize from, A Blog Named Hero.  Please remember to follow all of our challenge rules so that you’re eligible for our prize.

The challenge ends at 11:59PM EST on April 29th and the winner will be announced shortly after! Please add your card using the linky tool here. Good luck and we can not wait to see what you create.

Thanks for stopping by, please come back again soon for some more inspiration!
