Thank You – Together We Bloom

March 27, 2017

Good morning! Emily here with you today for another round of Bling it Up with Studio Katia! We are combining our beloved Hero Arts stamps with the beautiful stamps from Studio Katia. I was lucky enough to get to work with the stunning Together We Bloom set from Studio Katia, and I’ve got another watercolored flower card for you today in shades of peach and blush. Let’s get started!

I started with a panel of watercolor paper that I heat embossed with white using the Lia Griffith Woodgrain background stamp from Hero Arts. I then used the “smoosh” technique to create a pretty wash of watercolor on my background. To do this, I simply “smooshed” my Distress Ink pads (in Tattered Rose, Antique Linen, and Dried Marigold) onto a piece of acetate, sprayed it with my water bottle, and laid my heat embossed panel over the top, lifting it directly up and letting it dry. The result is a very pretty, subtle wash in which the colors blend beautifully. I die cut this panel using the Dotted Frame die from Studio Katia.

Next, I heat embossed several of the blooms from the Together We Bloom onto some watercolor card stock, then tapped some of the same Distress Inks onto an acrylic block to use them as watercolors. After they had dried, I fussy cut them out and arranged them in a cluster, using the Press ‘n Seal method to pick them up and add dimensional adhesive to the back. I laid down a strip of rose gold glitter card stock in the center of the smooshed ink panel.

The final step was to die cut the pretty, scripty “thank you” from some gold shimmer card stock and adhere it to my floral cluster. A few pretty sequins from my stash finished it off.

Thanks so very much for joining me today! If you haven’t already, be sure to hope along with our A Blog Named Hero Birthday Celebration Blog Hop! There are over $500 in prizes up for grabs, and some seriously amazing eye candy along the hop. You can find the full hop lists for Day 1 here and Day 2 here. You have until Tuesday, March 28 at 11:59 pm EST to leave your comments to be entered to win.

Have a marvelous day!

A Blog Named Hero’s 5th Anniversary Celebration Blog Hop Day 2 + GIVEAWAYS!

March 26, 2017

Happy Anniversary to Us!  And welcome back for the second day of our Anniversary celebration!

A Blog Named Hero is celebrating five amazing years of inspiration and we are so excited to announce a special blog hop. We have invited all of our current and past Design Team members, special guests, and the amazing and generous companies that have collaborated with us over the years to celebrate with us. Speaking of those companies, here’s a graphic showing all of their logos. It makes our little crafty hearts go pitter patter to see all of them together.

This crafting community is so wonderfully generous and kind, and that’s what this blog hop is celebrating. Two friends with a love of Hero Arts got together and created a challenge blog that has grown into A Blog Named Hero today. Here’s the story of this blog came to be:

One day Mary Dawn Quirindongo and Linda Trace had been talking about how much they love Hero Arts products and one or another of them (Linda will say it was her, but Mary Dawn will disagree) said, “Why hasn’t anyone ever done a challenge blog for Hero Arts products?!”

After a few moments of stunned silence between them, as the possibilities unravelled in their minds, they both said “Let’s do it!” After a little research into the Hero Arts company and where the name came from, A Blog Named Hero was born.

In 2014 Mary Dawn stepped down to concentrate on her family and Lisa Stein came on board to help Linda with the blog. Fast forward three years and Linda steps down to spend more time with her family and Jessica Frost-Ballas now runs the blog with Lisa. It is an honor for us, Jess & Lisa to have stepped into Mary Dawn and Linda’s shoes. And we hope we continue to provide inspiration to you for years to come.

Just in case you’re new to A Blog Named Hero, we are a challenge blog with a monthly challenge featuring Hero Arts products and a collaboration company. We love how easy it is to mix and match other company’s products with Hero Arts. Each month our collaboration company offers a prize for one of our challenge entries. We’d love for you to join along.

Now, let’s have some fun! Here’s how this hop is going to work. Yesterday and today we are hopping, with different participants on each day. Several companies decided to help us celebrate our fifth anniversary with giveaways and they were so generous that we decided to spread the love over both hop days with different prizes to be won each day!  Giveaway prizes total more than $500!  To win, leave a comment on each hop stop.  We will select winners randomly from different blogs so the more blogs you visit each day, the greater your chances of winning!

Floral Thinking of You

March 24, 2017

Hello there!  It’s Melissa back to share some more clean & simple inspiration!

I wanted to create another card using our sponsor, Studio Katia‘s, beautiful Thank You So Much set and paired it with a Hero Arts sentiment from the Everyday Sayings set.  A perfect match!

I watercolored the main panel in pastel colors using distress crayons.  After the panel was dry, I stamped the flower and sentiment in black ink.  The little beads were adhered to the flower center to play along with our current Bling it Up! challenge.  The assembled main panel was adhered to the kraft card base using foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the overall design.

You still have time to play along in this month’s challenge!  It ends at 11:59 EDT on March 30th.  That’s just a little less than a week away!  Hope to see you linked up!

Until next time, happy stamping!
