I wanted to keep my design CAS and for some CAS card design inspiration and crafty mojo I went through some class notes from a CAS card making class I took awhile ago. The technique I decided to use is great for using small stamps. First I used a heart shaped die to die cut adhesive masking paper. I centered the mask on card stock and stamped around the edge of the mask. I made sure to stamp the images around the mask without much space in between overlapping some of the images so that I am sure to define the heart shape. As I move my stamping away from the mask I stamped the images farther apart. I removed the mask than embossed the sentiment in gold in the center of the heart.
The style of clean and simple card making has minimal embellishments, lots of “white” (or empty) space for the eye to visually rest and minimal layers. I like the look of CAS layerd cards, the layer of turquoise helps the card pop but this technique also works well for one layered cards. With CAS cards I have to be careful that I don’t have any smudges from inky fingers since the CAS style uses minimal embellishments, I still managed to have a smudge of ink so I used some Nuvo drops to hide the smudge and add some sparkle.
Our challenge starts Monday, February 6 and I look forward to seeing the inspiring projects you share with us at A Blog Named Hero.
