Merry and Bright

October 23, 2016

Hello!  Jess here with a CAS card using no-line watercoloring!Merry and Bright
I adore this new Winter Time Fun stamp set from Hero Arts.  It was released as an add-on to the October My Monthly Hero kit.  While the kit has sold out, this stamp set is still available and it’s adorable!  To create my card I stamped the sled with antique linen distress ink and then used distress inks and a small paintbrush to color the sled.  I struggle with no-line watercoloring but I’m slowly getting a little more comfortable with it.  I start by using undiluted distress ink  (as in, smooshed right onto my acrylic block with no extra water added) to outline the stamped image.  I let it dry and then color the image using watered down distress inks to get a lighter wash.  It’s important to be patient and let sections dry before adding a new color (which is something I tend to struggle with).  Once the sled was finished I added a little shading with pumice stone distress ink.  I stamped the sentiment with red pigment ink and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Next I stamped the cardinal from the set on a piece of watercolor paper and colored it using the same technique.  I fussy cut him and adhered it to my card with foam mounting tape.  I trimmed my watercolor panel down slightly and then mounted it to a white card base.
I can’t recommend this set enough….it has some really cute images and sentiments and can be mixed and matched to make all sorts of different holiday cards!  Love love love! 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful night!

Merry Christmas with Hero Arts

October 20, 2016

65 days until Christmas, can you believe it?! I know I’m not going to be ready! At least my cards might be done… Kristina here today with a fun geometric design for this months challenge!

http://ablognamedhero.com/2016/10/geometric-challenge/

I used assorted sized circle dies to create a little cascade of circles to highlight my greeting.

For my greeting, I took a plain white piece of paper and covered it with Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder, heat set and let dry, then ran it through the die cutter with the Merry Stamp n Cut die.

To finish I stamped and heat embossed the rest of the greeting right onto the card.

A ship…but not

October 19, 2016

Hi friends!

I’m here today (a little late–my apologies! Technical and life difficulties) with a card that fits in perfectly (if I may say so myself) with the current theme of
So here’s my card

I took the little ship image from the Hero Arts set below, and set to work stamping it MULTIPLE times 🙂

I then coloured using both the 02 (or 01) shades of four colours, and then the 08/09 shades too.
The sentiment needed to be bold but not take away from that awesome design, so vellum was the answer 🙂 A little heat embossing and voila!
It’s actually even brighter in real life than in the photos, and the Wink of Stella glitter all over the shapes looks amazing in the light!
I thought they kinda looked like Christmas decorations so of course I needed to get a head start of my christmas cards!
Hope you like!
You’ve got a few days left to join us for the challenge, so please enter! We’d love to see your spin on the challenge theme
See you again soon!

Wishing you a sparkling holiday

October 17, 2016

Hi stampers!
Ilina here today with a Holiday card for you. The theme for October is Geometric, so as part I used the Hero Arts circle infinity dies. I used to cut the circle and emboss few concentric circles around.
I used the Color Layering Deer set and the coordinating dies for the main element (the deer) and stamped it using : Soft Brown, Caramel, Cup o’ Joe and Intense black, then I assembled my card. In the background I used some gold glitter paper.
Hope I’ve inspired you to create something today and participate in this month’s challenge for a chance to win Color Layering Grateful Leaves set from Hero Arts provided by A Blog Named Hero.
