Thinking of You Peonies!

September 7, 2016

Good evening, Jess here!  I am so excited to be collaborating with Ellen Hutson this month and getting the opportunity to play with some of her gorgeous new Essentials by Ellen stamps!  I received the lovely Mondo Peony in the mail and couldn’t wait to color that gorgeous bloom!  Here’s what I created!

abnhsep2
I started by taping the Hero Arts stencil to a piece of white cardstock.  Then I applied a thin layer of metallic gold embossing paste, removed the stencil, and set it aside to dry.  While it was drying I stamped the peony onto watercolor paper with versafine and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I colored it with a combination of zig clean color real brush markers and blended the colors with a damp paintbrush.  Then I used the coordinating dies to die-cut the flower and leaves.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Mondo Hydrangea onto vellum with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I adhered the flower to the stenciled panel and then wrapped the vellum sentiment around the panel on an angle.  I adhered the vellum to the back of the stenciled panel so no adhesive would show.  Finally I mounted the stenciled panel to a white card base.
Thanks so much to our very generous sponsor for September, Ellen Hutson!

Our challenge theme this month is Texture. I created literal texture with the use of the embossing paste and I love the subtle shine the metallic paste gives to the card.  I hope you’ll play along with our challenge for a chance to win a prize from Ellen Hutson!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
