We’ve Had a Blast Lil inker designs!

June 30, 2016

We have had such a good time this month collaborating with Lil inker designs. I hope you’ve had fun along with us, and did a bit of shopping. Although, I’m not sure how one does “a bit” of shopping over there. Everything is just so fantastic. I want it all.

Our theme this month was to use vellum, and we’ve had some amazing entries. Let’s take a look at a few that caught my eye.
Look at what Kathy did here! She used the vellum as the “european bouquet” wrapper for her flowers.

This colorful card from Ashwini makes me happy. Well done!
This pretty card from Helen uses one of my all time favorite Hero Arts stamps. And kraft paper. Love it.

Love the use of vellum on this card from Bozen.

And now for the winner. Let’s get random.org to pick the lucky entrant!

That’s Helen! I guess I have good taste.
Helen, please send us an email and we’ll get your information over to Laura at Lil inkers design right away.

See you here tomorrow for our new challenge.

Hello Vacation

June 29, 2016

Happy almost July! This month has just flown by, and I don’t like that as I get older, time just goes by faster. Hmm…
This was a pretty easy card to make. Die cut all the suitcases, color them in with Zig clean color markers. Stamp my sentiment and pop up the suitcases around the sentiment. In rainbow order, of course.
The die and sentiment are from this month’s Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit. If you’re ever on the fence about these kits, may I recommend just taking the plunge? They’re chock full of goodies and you won’t be disappointed.
After I finished the card I realized I forgot about the challenge theme. Oops. 🙂
I hope you joined us in our Vellum challenge. So many pretty entries. A winner gets picked tomorrow and wins a prize from Lil’ inker designs.

Sent With Love….

June 28, 2016

Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with a collaboration project with Lil’ Inkers for our Vellum challenge at A Blog Named Hero.
The Modern Mehndi set from Lil’ Inkers is stunning when white heat embossed on vellum.  I colored the back of the vellum with Copic Markers and created a frame with the Lawn Fawn Stitched dies.  The background was embossed on vellum using sparkly powder and I popped up the flowers with foam tape.

Coloring Vellum

June 26, 2016

Recently I came across this video by Elena Morgun who used inks and alcohol blending solution to color vellum.  So I decided to try it with Hero Arts inks.  After trying Elena’s method,  I tried smooshing my inks right on the vellum, put a drop (you don’t want very much) of the blending solution on the ink and then used a brush to make about a 3″x5″ colored section.  I just wanted enough colored area to cut a few flowers and leaves.  I think this was faster and easier.
I made sure the inks were all dry (heat gun works if you’re in a hurry), made sure the vellum was static free by using an anti-static tool and then I embossed the flowers and leaves in gold and fussy cut.   Figured out where I wanted the sentiment by laying it out on my Misti.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink and heat embossed with clear powder.  Added the gold washi tape (from my stash), did the flower arrangement with the gold thread, chomped the corners and done!
Lil’ Inker Designs is our wonderful sponsor this month and will provide a great prize for this month’s challenge winner.  There’s still enough time to enter here.  Thanks for stopping by.

Daisy Watercoloring

June 25, 2016

Hi friends – welcome back to another mini Hero Arts card featuring this adorable Daisy Style flower; I just love it!

This month, we encourage you to use vellum on your card…

And yes, in case you were wondering? My first card is what we call a #vellumfail. OOPS! So what’s a crafty girl to do? Make another card and use vellum as the base. 😀 Ah…better!!

On the first card, I embossed the image 3 times on watercolor paper with Hero Arts white embossing powder and colored the images with Zig Clean Clear Brushes – allowing the colors to dry in between really does allow you to layer the colors and get some gorgeous BRIGHT color combos. I added a turquoise blue outline fading it out softly. Once everything was dry, I used my fingernail and the brush of the Zig markers to make super tiny flecks over the main panel. I added some clear wink of stella, washi tape and a sentiment from Hero Arts . A few sequins finish it off.

The second card is made basically the exact same way – I just added some black and white splatters as well as some white enamel accents, layered it on to a fun stripped vellum for the base. I added another Hero Arts flower, Zinnia Bloom as well as leaves from the Color Layering For you Flower stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll join the fun in showing us YOUR creations using vellum! See you again soon!

Hugs,
