Sending Love and Kindness

March 29, 2016

I am so in love with this Hero Arts stencil. And was so excited to use it with distress stains for this Rainbow challenge. I knew I wouldn’t get a perfect impression, and looked forward to embracing that imperfection. That’s a hard thing for me to do, ahem.
Super simple to make, just placed the stencil over the watercolor paper, pounced the distress stains over it in a rainbow order, then adhered that to a card base. Stamped the sentiment on some vellum, and used a die from Lil Inkers to cut that out, and also to cut the same shape from pool paper so that you could see the sentiment on the vellum. I’m happy with this card, but now that I stare at it in a picture, I think I’ll make it again, and use a black strip for the sentiment.
Make sure to play along with our challenge this month, we’ve got a prize from Avery Elle up for grabs!

Rainbow Flowers

March 26, 2016

Today I have a softened version of rainbow colors since our challenge theme this month is
I have a really hard time doing anything in bright colors and to soften the colors, I added a piece of vellum over the top.  You can see another card with vellum overlay here.  I did manage to get all the rainbow colors into the flowers too!

Love these new Hero Arts layering flowers and they are super easy to line up.  I did a bit of masking to put the leaves and flowers behind in places.

I embossed the sentiment on the vellum which warped a bit when I heated it even though I did it from the back, so added some vellum tape which pretty much took care of the problem.
There’s still time to enter our rainbow challenge – and have a chance to win a prize from our sponsor, Avery Elle.  Thanks for stopping by.

Colorful Canopy

March 25, 2016

Hello!  The Crafty Nurse here with another card for our Rainbow challenge here at A Blog Named Hero.
rainbow
For this card I used the gorgeous stamp by Avery Elle called, “Canopy” from their newest release.  It pairs perfectly with the Hero Arts sentiment from “Enjoy Today.”
It’s been great to see all the rainbow cards shared by the designers and entered by our great followers.  To make this rainbow background, start by white heat embossing your image then take a mini distress cube and apply it to the end of an acrylic block in a 1/4 inch line.

Then, spray the ink with a little water and apply in rainbow order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.  I use watercolor paper for best results and try to overlap the colors a little bit for good mixing.

I hope you’ll join us at A Blog Named Hero for our March Rainbow Card Challenge!  Thanks again to Avery Elle for their collaboration this month and don’t forget to stop by and check out their new release.

Hello Rainbow

March 24, 2016

Greetings – welcome back to another fun RAINBOW challenge.

I made a very CAS (clean and simple) card using some rainbow paper, a bit of glitter paper and a fun rainbow HELLO with matching hearts. I colored a piece of watercolor paper with Zig Clean Color Brushes and lots of water letting the colors run together, then die cut the hello. I also cut the hello from white fun foam for quick and easy dimension.

Using Press’n Seal to adhere the hearts in place

The circle is from MFT’s wonky circles, I cut two different size circles at the same time to get the open circle frame, stamped the sentiment inside the frame with Hero Arts black ink. I used Laurie’s trick of applying Press’n Seal once I had all the hearts in place, peeled it off, flipped it over to apply adhesive, then flipped back over and pressed the hearts onto the card. Easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you can join our RAINBOW challenge this month, link up is HERE.

Hugs,

COMING SOON!
