Archives for February 2016
Hi friends! Welcome back to another card featuring Hero Arts, Simon Says Stamp and a wee bit of sparkle!
We hope you’ll join this month’s challenge; you can link your cards up HERE!
I saw a video from Kristina a couple weeks ago where she used freezer paper to preserve images before water coloring the card stock; you can see the video HERE. ADORABLE; I had no idea! I cut several small hearts and outlines from SSS’s February card kit, then also die cut 3 of the sketch hearts, all from freezer paper. I adhered these to my Tim Holtz water color paper with my household iron! 😀
I used Distress Inks to create the background, re-heated the wax paper as Kristina shows in her video and removed the pieces. Voila, is that not gorgeous?!? Once it was completely dry, I gave it a spritz with shimmer sparkle – absolutely impossible to see in the photos, but it’s there, I promise!!
I added some silver/white washi tape down the side and finished up the card. I layered on some pink polka dot acetate, thread, the HELLO stamp and die cut from Hero Arts cut from craft foam and silver card stock, and embossed the tag line on black card stock. I added some enamel hearts and sequins to finish off the focal point.
For some added interested, I scored 3 lines in the lower right-hand corner at varying lengths.
Thanks for stopping by; we can’t wait to see what little bit of sparkle YOU create this month! Have a great day!
Aren’t these just the cutest little kids ever??? I felt like I was 10 years old again coloring my paper dolls!!
Colored my little friends with Zig watercolor markers and die cut them with the dies that coordinate with these stamps. For the background, I tore some paper, added it to the bottom and then coated the torn edges with WOS. Stamped the background with some HA snowflakes in Versamark and embossed with white EP. Lastly I sponged on some Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass) and added a few clear sequins. The sentiment (from the same set) is stamped in HA black and embossed with clear EP. Finally, I dressed my sweet little kids in their hats, mittens and scarves and sent them outside to play in the snow!
You have all of February to create your own “sparkle” card and enter it here.
Hey Everyone! Kristina here today! This month we’re collaborating with the fantastic Simon Says Stamp, one of the best online retailers for all things craft and card making! In addition to carrying anything you could ever imagine needing, they have their own amazing line of stamps, dies, inks and more! Thanks to Simon’s crew for sending us some goodies of their to play with for this months collaboration and the February Challenge!
Here’s My Card!
Isn’t this the cutest little teddy bear! I original had him copic colored, but the more I looked at him it just felt like a good image for watercoloring so I pulled out my Prima Watercolor Pencils!
I wanted something very soft and subtle. For my background I cut out some cloud masks from post its and very lightly inked around them with Hero Arts Soft Pool ink. To pull it all together, I mounded Mr. Bear onto a vellum die cut and added my sentiment to some Hero Arts Pool Layering Paper. To add my Bit of Sparkly, I went over the clouds with my clear wink of stella, Here’s a close up:
Now, Make sure you head over to this months challenge post to view all the details and link up your ‘Bit of Sparkle’ creations!
Hi there my fellow crafters, Alisha here with my card for the February challenge “A little Sparkle”. For this card I used the Hero Arts set “Mason Jar Bugs” and it is adorable! I had a million beautiful artsy ideas for it and each one kinda crashed and burned as I worked through them – so sad. After a few tears my husband came over and told me to stop trying so hard (not helping honey) but he was right as usual. I kept it clean and very simple, hope you like it!
