Using a bold background

June 19, 2015

Hello, Hero Arts fans!

The card I am sharing today was made using one of the new-ish background stamps from Hero Arts and Basic Grey – Triangle Background. Also, as you know, we’re collaborating with our wonderful sponsor, Simon Says Stamp, this month, so I also used one of my favourite sentiment sets from Simon Says Stamp!

Thanks so very much to Simon Says Stamp
for sponsoring our blog, and for letting us play with their stamps for
this awesome collaboration!  Make sure you come back tomorrow for our new challenge – I know you’re going to love it!

Dream Big Little One

June 17, 2015

Hi friends!

I’m here with a fun card I made recently using Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp!

Thanks so much to Simon Says Stamp for providing us with a set to use this month in our collaboration month!

http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/

I stamped the W from the Simon Says Stamp Dotted Alphabet set in Surf Blue Ink on some aqua cardstock, multiple times, to create a pattern, with a tone on tone effect.

I then diecut that panel using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die.  I used the same die to cut the outer rectangle in deep purple.

I then stamped the bird from Hero Arts, and added a sentiment.  I added the little handdrawn circles using a white gel pen 🙂

Be sure to join in with our current challenge! It’s a great one 🙂

Thanks again to our wonderful sponsors Simon Says Stamp for their support!!

See you soon!

Happy Birthday (to my Sissy!)

June 16, 2015

My sister’s birthday is coming up, and what better reason to use some fun new products I purchased from Simon Says Stamp?

I’m channeling my inner Laura Bassen on this card, everything she makes is perfection, so I hope a bit rubs off on me.

I used the new colors of mini distress inks on this, or two of them, fossilized amber and cracked pistachio. Honestly, I wasn’t too keen on them when I first saw them, but knew I’d buy them as they came out in mini sets. Now that I’ve used them, wow, they’re gorgeous. And I must have them all. I think their evil plan worked.

Simple sponging over the awesome grid stencil from Simon Says Stamp, and then one of my favorite stamp and die sets from Hero Arts complete this card. So simple, would be easy to make a bunch of backgrounds all at once and then add the sentiments as you need them.

Please don’t forget to join us for our current challenge! As always, Simon Says Stamp has generously offered a $25 gift certificate to the winner!

A Cheery Birthday

June 11, 2015

ALOHA friends!
Did you see the latest challenge?
http://ablognamedhero.com/2015/06/favorite-challenge/
Today I’m showing off my favorite thing to add to a card…
COLOR!
I love all things bright and cheery and knew that our collab partner
had a tons of fun stamp sets to play with!
Pair the Simon Says Stamps with Hero Arts Ombre inks and you’ve got
a match made in heaven!!
Let’s get to the card…
A bright and cheery birthday using Simon Says Stamp Baby Party Animals,
All Boy (for the dots) and Sentiments of Be (small happy).
I created a window using Simons Says Stamp Stitched Square die.
To create the background I inked up the confetti stamps in the Butter to Orange shades.
The dots were inked up in the various shades of the Hero Arts Ombre inks
using the Fiskars Stamp Press to stamp them nice and straight on the inside of the card.
tip: pencil mark the square opening for better placement.
The dots was the perfect size for the square die…no masking necessary!
Then that sweet bunny was stamped, colored with copics and fussy cut.
The googly eyes was added for fun.
I adhered the bunny to the front of the card and the balloon to the inside with foam tape.
So that’s my Cheery Birthday card for today!
I hope you’ll join our challenge for an AWESOME chance at

A BIG MAHALO to Simon Says Stamp!!
And a mahalo to you all for stopping by!
