Not my style…

September 25, 2014

Hi there,
it’s Christine.
I’d like to be honest with you:
Today’s post could also be about frustration and the feeling that you can’t create a card that you like. I guess we’ve all been there: Today is a mojo-free day for me.
I just couldn’t think of any good combo and then I came up with this card I knew this was not my style. Not at all. It’s not an ugly card but it does not feel right. Do you know this feeling? What do you do with cards that are nice but not your style? Do you still keep/post them?
I’m posting mine today (because I have nothing else to share today – so sorry!):
It’s a pretty simple card that could also be used as a Valentine’s card. Maybe you like it. I thought the hearts/arrow background would go well with Winnie&Walter’s love sentiment. I added some score lines and a tiny red heart. That’s it.
You already know we are collaborating with Winnie & Walter this month:

Thanks, Winnie & Walter!

You still have some time to play along with our latest challenge:

There is a lovely prize from Simon Says Stamp for a lucky winner.

You’re a gem!

September 23, 2014

Anyone else who loves shaker cards? I think they are just so much fun and I made one with lots of sparkle this time.

On the acetate for the window of the card I stamped the sequins from Winnie & Walter and a sentiment from Hero Arts that went so good with it. I used glitter cardstock as a background and painted the frame with my clear Wink of Stella pen to get even more shimmer. I filled it with some mixed sequins and was so very happy with this really glittery and fun card.

You haven’t missed that we are collaborating with Winnie & Walter this month? I had so much fun using their stamps.

Have you seen the latest challenge? It’s time to grab some patterned papers and play!

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing all the entries to the challenge.

A happy hello!

September 21, 2014

Hello everyone!
Sindhu here with two cards to share with you.
We have a collaboration with the awesome Winnie and Walter this month and I have used their free printable backgrounds coupled with the gorgeous Hero Arts stamps for my cards.

For the first card, I printed the dotted pattern on a piece of white card stock and printed the same on vellum. I stitched (Ahem…yeah, I just called it stitching…I know it’s very bad!) the printed vellum on the printed card stock and I love the result. I then stamped a feather image  from Hero Arts stamp set and finished the card with a sentiment from Hero Arts ‘Flower Garden’

For the second card, I took the remaining printed card stock, keeping it as base, cut out a fish tail banner out of a background printable from the  The Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1: Journaling Cards. I then stamped the cute image from HA ‘Li’l hoot’ stamp set

As always, Simon Says Stamp is our awesome sponsor.

Don’t forget to enter our current challenge for a chance to win the gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp.

I hope you like today’s cards… See you!

Making patterned paper with stamps

September 19, 2014

Hi, all, Michelle here!  I love my collection of background stamps – there’s just so much you can do with them!   With these three cards, I tried to make a patterned paper look by stamping and then adding ink in two different ways.

This month, we’re lucky enough to be playing with Winnie and Walter stamps, along with Hero Arts.   I also used two stamp sets from My Favorite Things on this first card.

To make the patterned panel, I stamped and white embossed the Fresh Cut: Raindrops background stamp, then used my Tim Holtz spritzer tool with some Distress Markers (Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Peacock Feathers).  I then lightly blended over the lot with the palest colour, which unified the background, and also removed spritzed colour from the embossing.

I liked the results of this technique so much, I made two more cards using the same technique!

This last one is a one layer card.

Miss Your Smile

September 17, 2014

It’s time for another challenge, and this time it is all about patterned paper. Which is a great thing, because I love it, and seem to have quite the collection. Patterned paper and this fantastic stamp set from Winnie & Walter? Yes, please.
All of the papers here are from Lawn Fawn, I used one of the new Spruce woodgrain notecards, and the Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad. Stamped the gorgeous flowers from the Winnie & Walter “The Big The Bold & The Extras” stamp set. So many great uses for this set, I know I’ll use it time and time again.

To make my flowers, I stamped the solid flower image onto the patterned paper with versamark ink. Then clear embossed. Once that was cool, I used the outline flower image with versamark, and then white embossing powder. By the way, I use Hero Arts white and clear embossing powders. I just love them, they never disappoint.
Stamping onto the already embossed image is a little slippery, but I embraced this effect. I thought it was more watercolor – like, and didn’t mind if my hand slipped. Also, you can see in this next picture that when you emboss the white atop the clear, it kind of melts into the clear, and becomes what I’m calling “painterly”. I absolutely love it. Happy accident.
To make the leaves, I didn’t have any green paper. I didn’t let that stop me. I used Hero Arts Field Greens ink over some blue paper. Then I used the same stamp and versamark, so that I could clear emboss the leaves. Then the white, again, with the outline image. And you’ve got some pretty leaves. A little fussy cutting, some assembly, and all is done.
I know you’ve got a bunch of patterned paper in your stash, so please make sure to join us on this challenge. You could win a $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp. Have you been following their Stamptember goings on? So much fun. Hide your wallet. Hide MY wallet.
