Hello, all! For my solo post this month, I wanted to join in with the challenge that is running at A Blog Named Hero at the moment – it is Ombre. I love this look, but I usually acheive it with Distress Inks and a heap of blending (that’s what I did for my card for our previous challenge on August 1st!). I wanted to try something a bit different for me, so I pulled out the same stamp set from Reverse Confetti as I used on August 1st, as well as the same stencil (Hero Arts Rain Dance Pattern stencil – I am so so so in love with this stencil, you have no idea!!), and then got messy with some Gelatos from Faber Castell Design Memory Craft, and embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi / Dreamweaver.
I used 3 different Gelatos – Watermelon, Guava and Butter Cream. I mashed the gelatos into the embossing paste on my craft mat with a palette knife. I then applied the different colours onto the card using the stencil, but tried to overlap the colours a bit to get an ombre look. I really love the results I got with this technique! The result doesn’t just look cool, but the card is so touchy-feely – great texture!! I just need to get some more Gelatos, because I can’t wait to do this same thing with shades of blue and green (which I don’t have many of!!)
Have you entered our latest challenge??
As always, there’s a prize up for grabs from the FABULOUS Simon Says Stamp
