Video: Pulling a card together by colour

June 25, 2014

Hello everyone!

I can’t believe June is nearly over already, time flies! My last post is one month ago? Wowzers!
Did you get to see all the beautiful Design Team Inspirations using
and
products? This combo is inspiring, sparking our creation and full of possibilities. I made a card again, but different from the cards that I usually create. It seems to be a little more classy this time. But I know many of you like classy cards, right?
Last time I created a card by theme (stars), today it’s all about colour. Blues and warm greys. Repeating colours on different parts of your projects really pulls everything together. This is what I came up with:
I made a video showing all the different steps to achieve a card like that. I really hope you like it!

So, if you’d like to know how this card was created (or just like to listen to my lovely voice, hehe), here’ the video:
Thanks so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed it and found something inspiring.
A big thank you to Faber Castell Design Memory Craft and Finding Nana for the great products I got to play with this month!
I also wanted to remind you there is still time to create for the current challenge, the theme is Bokeh. There is a geat prize from our generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp.

Making pretty backgrounds

June 23, 2014

I’ve been making backgrounds using some water color pencils and Gelatos for my post today. We have collaborations with two
awesome companies. Faber Castell Design Memory Craft and Finding Nana. And of
course there are some Hero Arts stamps invloved as usual. Lets get to it!

For my first card I used water color pencils in yellow and pink on some water
color paper to make a pretty background. I then stamped the typewriter on top of
the colored paper. Then I colored the typewriter with Copics, since the Copics
won’t react with watercolor and the colors was so light it worked without
problems. The typewriter is small and i made sure to be careful not to damage
the tip of the marker on the rough paper. I stamped the typewiter again on
regular printing paper and also the sentiment and cut out just the sheet of
paper and adhered on top of the watercolored piece. I like the combination of
Watercolors and Copics. And the washi is so cute!

On this card I colored a piece of Vellum with the same watercolor pencils and
made a shaker card out of it. I turned the colored side of the Vellum in so it
won’t smudge and embossed a geeting. I used a sheet of shimmering cardstock as
background, it’s very pretty! And again, that washi tape! Love it!

On my thid card I used Gelatos to make a background. I stamped and embossed
the hello in black and also made some shading with Distress Markers The Speech
Bubble paper clips are from Finding Nana and I think they matched the hellos.

A big thank you to Faber Castell Design Memory Craft and Finding Nana for the great products I got to play with this month!

I also wanted to
remind you there is still time to create for the current challenge, the theme is
Bokeh. There is a geat prize from our generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp.

Stencils and some doodling

June 19, 2014

This month, all the design team girls at A Blog Named Hero are lucky enough to be playing with goodies from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft, Finding Nana, as well as Hero Arts!   So much fun!!

I’ve also been playing with stencils and doodling – just playing and seeing what I could come up with. I thought I’d see if I could combine doodling with pens, using stencils, as well as using Hero Arts sentiments from the new “Many Birthday Messages” set, and some washi and a paper clip from Finding Nana.

For the patterned panel on this card, I used a stencil I’ve had for a while now, from ScrapFX (called Flower Pattern Stencil Small).  I traced around it with the Indanthrene Blue Pitt Artist pen from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft, then did some freehand doodling with the other colours in the set (Pthalo Blue, Cobalt Green and May Green).

For this next card, I used my Hero Arts “Large Lotus Pattern” stencil.  I did some doodling, but I also sponged some Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass over the stencil as well.

For my last card for today, I used my brand new Hero Arts “Rain Dance Pattern Stencil”.  This one particularly reminded me of the paisley-like patterns on the Faber Castell: Design Memory Craft packaging – I love the doodles on the packaging (which is where I got the idea for doodling in the first place!):

I kept the rest of the card pretty CASified. (Actually, all 3 of my cards today are fairly CAS! Remember, CAS includes lots of “white” space – but that doesn’t mean it has to be white!)

Thanks SO MUCH to our generous sponsors for all the goodies they sent:
