Hi, crafty peeps! It’s Michelle here today to show you two cards using a baby set called “Nursery Deco” from Mama Elephant – all the DT at A Blog Named Hero are playing with some awesome stamps from this fabulous company this month. I thought I’d try to make non-baby cards using this baby set.
I also tried a technique that’s new to me, using Distress Inks, water, and a stencil from Heidi Swapp.
To make this background, I first used my blending tool to add some different Distress Inks to some watercolour paper. I then took my stencil (which was a gift from Joy Taylor – thanks so much!!) and misted it with water. I then placed the stencil on top of the watercolour paper, wet side down. I then removed the stencil and blotted the water off, which removed the ink. Such a cool technique, with awesome results!
I then stamped the Hero Arts “Dancing with Flowers” stamp in black (this stamp was a gift from Iwona Palamountain – thanks heaps!)(aren’t I the luckiest!!), and added a sentiment from “It’s your Day” with a border underneath from my Mama Elephant set.
For my second card, I used the same technique, but with different stamps and composition.
OK, so 2 things.
1. I couldn’t have just these 2 cards in my post – neither of them is CASified! and
2. The offcut from card 2 of watercolour paper with this cool technique was crying out to me – “don’t chuck me in the bin!! Use me!”!
So I did. And it’s a baby card.
And here’s a close up of this fun technique:
