It’s Cristina here, and today is a great day! Did you see the new catalog from Hero Arts? Don’t you just want it all? Me too! You can see it HERE, and start your wish list, because you still have to wait a couple of days to find them in the shops. But if you have a Silhouette, you are in luck! The latest files released by Hero Arts are some of the new stamps, and I just couldn’t wait to use some of them.
The Birthday Constellation was one of my favorites straight away, so I decided to try it with the “engraving” technique.
With this technique, you basically want your Silhouette to “engrave” the design without actually cutting it all the way through. This are the settings I normally use for 80 lb cardstock:
Once I have my cardstock engraved, I use distress inks to color it. The cuts pick up the color and show up a lot more.
When I was happy with the colors, I added some splatters with Picket Fence distress stain, and I used the stain to color the words too. I like that it is very subtle so you can still see the engraving.
I wish you could see the texture in the picture! Here is a close up:
To finish the card, I glued down a strip of double sided tape and added some glitter. Then I mounted the panel with foam dimensionals.
For card #2 I used one of the new backgrounds in the Silhouette store:
I cut the design onto white cardstock, and I used my distress inks as watercolors for the “ombre” look. After I dried it, I glued it over a piece of white cardstock and then over a kraft card base. To finish it, I added some enamel dots and for the sentiment I used a wood chip pin from Freckled Fawn, although I pulled the pin out and added it with foam dimensionals. You already know that Freckled Fawn is our collaboration for April, and their embellishments are super cute, so you should go check them out:
Now, for my last card I had to make a shaped card:
I know this onesie is not one of the new shapes from Hero Arts, but it was perfect for that sequin bow from Freckled Fawn. I just had to make a onesie card!
So that’s it from me, but remember that you still have time to play along with our current challenge, and you could win a gift certificate for Simon Says Stamp!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
