Archives for March 2014
It’s Cristina here and today I have a couple of projects to share with you. I loved playing with the kits from Gossamer Blue, they are amazing! I had so much to choose from that I didn’t know where to begin 😉
The first thing that caught my eye fromt he March Kit was the Gold paper, it’s gorgeous!!! So I decided to make a card with it:
If you have a Silhouette, you have to go check some of the latest cutting files from Hero Arts, cause they are SO beautiful!!! I can’t wait to make a stencil with this flower background!
I just cut a piece big enough to cover the front of a card and glued it down. I added a tag, for the sentiment and some of the gold twine from the kit. I saw Julie Ebersole make one of this double tags on one of her videos and I wanted to give it a go. To finish the card, I added some cute enamel hearts from the kit! Here you can see the shine from that gold paper:
Now, for my second card I wanted to go a completely different way, and I decided to use the March Life Pages Kit to make a baby card:
I love the colors and the designs of the the 3×4 cards in the kits, and although I don’t do Project Life, they are perfect for cards. So I used the one with the clouds, as I thought it was super sweet, and I made the hill with another 3×4 card. I stamped and colored the elephant from Hero Arts and I added one of the enamel hearts over the heart design on the stamp.
I have one more card to share with you:
That’s a lot of gold, right? I wanted to make one last quick card using the lovely gold paper, the gold ink and the stamp set from the Main Kit.
I started by inking the Envelope Pattern from Hero Arts and stamping it over one of the sides of the Rays embossing folder. Then I run it through with a piece of white cardstock. Then I inked over the “rays” with the same gold pigment ink, and I stamped a card base with the Envelope Pattern.
I embossed the beautiful sentiment over the gold paper and die cut a circle with it, to form a “sun”
So, go over to the Gossamer Blue shop and have a look, as you can see their kits are a must have 😉

I set myself a challenge – use one stamp set from Hero Arts, to make 3 wedding cards in different styles, all on a white card base. I wanted to start out slightly complicated, and gradually CASify!!
My task was made a little easier, because I had a heap of goodies from Gossamer Blue’s Main Kit for March, as well as their March Life Pages kit to play with! I also used this gorgeous stamp set from Hero Arts:
With this card, I tried to use more product but keep it looking not too busy. I used 2 stamps, 2 patterned papers, 3 embellishments and some Copic Markers. I think it looks interesting without being overdone.
(OK, I’ll ‘fess up. I had originally made another card where I took the
idea “more is more” and ran with it – I ended up with a hot mess.
Seriously bad. I mean SERIOUSLY BAAAAAD. I was going to post it, but
the more I looked at it, the more horrified I was with it. I had to bin it. And before you say, “it can’t have been THAT bad”, yes, yes, it could.)
I wanted to go a bit more subtle and quiet for my next card. I used a few journalling cards from the Gossamer Blue Life Pages kit, as well as some stickers and that oh-so-cool ampersand paper clip. 1 stamp, 1 embellishment, 2 patterned papers and some stickers.
I selectively inked up the “MR. AND MRS.” stamp from Hero Arts’ “Best Wishes” clear set to avoid getting ink on the word “and”.
For my last card, I wanted to go very CAS. I like this one the best (by a long shot!) – in my opinion, less is definitely more 🙂 1 patterned paper, 1 stamp, 1 embellishment hanging from gold and white twine.

Hi everyone, Sue here with a new post and it’s all about patterned paper and without a card in sight!
If you follow me at all, you know that I rarely use the stuff on my cards because I’m just not comfortable trying to figure out the whole patterns and colours going together thing but when I saw the wonderful scrapbook kits we got from Gossamer Blue I really wanted to play with a lot of the goodies and decided I would do so without making any cards..
If you’re not familiar with Gossamer Blue, please go check them out here. They have so many items in their kits, including rubber stamps, papers, ink and embellishments. I’m using products from the March 2014 Main Kit and the March 2014 Life Pages Kit.
I started off by making two quick and easy projects. A bookmark and a gift card holder.
I used some striped paper to make the bookmark, added gold stamping with Hero Arts stars and added chipboard alpha stickers to personalize the bookmark.
When giving someone a gift card how about placing it in your handmade card inside a jazzed up glassine envelope. I die cut the Hero Arts speech bubbles from journaling cards and stamped some sentiments. Simple but fun!
Next up is a gift wrapped package.
Have you thought of using some of your paper stash to decorate a present? I took kraft wrapping paper (or parcel paper) and gold stamped it with circle images to go along with the circles that appear in the the papers I’m using.
I layered two patterned papers with a gold foil paper between them for a pretty belly band to go around the gift. I wrapped twine around the package as well and used it to attach the tag and the heart charm.
Inside the kit were these journaling tags and I wasn’t sure how I could use them since I don’t scrapbook.
I decided to punch some flower shapes out of them and make embellishments. You can’t even tell that these papers had words and numbers on them once punched out and layered to make the flowers.
I hope this gives you some ways to incorporate patterned papers into more than just your card making. And please visit Gossamer Blue to see all their wonderful products.
In case you’ve missed it, we have a new challenge going on right now. Wow us with your stenciled projects and you could win a gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until March 14th to play along.
