January 19, 2013

Hi All!
It’s Amy T …guestie for today:)
I wanted to play along with the current ABNH challenge, Golden Oldie.
I used my older cling stamps:
I’m pretty smitten with the ole aqua & orange color combo….

I heat embossed the chair with Zing…This is actually going to a friend of mine that recently lost her Grandmother.  I wanted to make her a non-traditional sympathy card, whaddya think?
The chair & sentiment are from the 2011 release
Wishing you Were Here

and the background stamp is also from the same release

Getting ready for Valentine’s Day

January 19, 2013

Hello everyone!
It’s Cristina here. This year I decided to start a bit early than usual with my Valentine’s Day projects, because I always think I have lots of time, and suddenly I need 20 cards and I have no time to make them.

I decided to make a small gift box, cause you always need something like that  to give to your Valentine 🙂

To make this box, I followed the awesome tutorial that Michelle posted here last year. You should check it out!
I made so many boxes for my Christmas presents following her tutorial, it’s perfect! I just change the measurements to make it the size I want.
For this mini box, I cut the “box” cardstock at 5″x5″, and scored at 1″ from each border.
And for the “lid” cardstock, the measurements are 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″, and again you score at 1″ from each border. Super easy!

To decorate it, I just embossed the sentiment, and added a couple of hearts using one of my favorite color combos: navy and coral.

I decided to make a card too, but in a completely different style:

I had to play along with the current challenge here at A Blog Named Hero, so I used the first 2 stamps I ever bought from Hero Arts: the Heart Flourish and the Old Letter Writing.
I had so much fun making this card! I love emboss resist and adding all that color, and the different stamped layers… It was fun!
I don’t tend to make a lot of pink cards, but Picked Raspberry Distress Ink is a gorgeous color.
I added lots of perfect pearls too, so this card is shiny, here is a close up:

So don’t forget to play along with our challenge and get those old stamps inky again!
Thanks for stopping by!

my old heart(s)

January 17, 2013

I’m in a Valentine’s mood with my card making this week and thought it would be fun to break out some oldies but goodies and play along with the current challenge here at A Blog Named Hero.

I love my Hero Arts stamps and the woodblock ones will always have a special place in my heart. I keep all of my woodblock stamps in a drawer, by category. Here is a peek into my collection of Hero Arts. I thought I would pull them out and make a few cards using some old hearts combined with new sentiment stamps.

Does anyone remember the Three Stitched Hearts stamp? I think I bought it when I took one of my very first stamping classes! I thought it would be fun paired with the new Happy Valentine’s Day script.

And how about this Blooming Heart? I thought it would look fun all dressed up with bling. I still love it.

Hope you liked this peek into my collection of heart stamps. What are your very first Hero Arts stamps? Do you still have them? I would love to know in the comments!
